Considering that you walk around daily, your calves might just be overloaded and never getting enough time to rest to grow properly. I started playing tennis 4-5 times a week when I was 5 years old, by 15 my legs were like trunks and my calves huge. Not saying it has nothing to do with genetics because it does but also improperly training them could lag the development. Less weight but exercising until failure, like legit failure is the way. But you gotta let them rest properly afterward.
@@death8570 You gotta listen to your body in regards to how much time it needs to recover, hard to assign a timeframe because it will vary individually depending on your body. It would feel normal to do your routine, but those last % are what your muscles need for that final growth. Seated calf raises have the problem that by simply sitting down you shed a lot of added weight, so you need to further increase the weight to see similar difficulty compared with standing. The positioning of your feet matters and might actually be part fo the reason your calves are not growing as fast as you might think they should. Your feet should be facing straight forward, not in or out. Most people tend to lean outward to some degree. An easy way to check is to stand on the ground and bend your feet at the balls of your foot. The line of where your foot bends should be in a straight and flush line one foot to the next. This will ensure your load is balanced and engage the muscles equally. Likely by doing so you will feel the difference some and your feet will likely look like they are pointing in a little. If your feet are pointing in too much, then you will engage the outer calf more. If your feet are pointing out too much you will engage the inner calf more. This is the same when doing squats. An alternative to calf raises is to combine them with squats. When you squat remain on the balls of your feet. When lifting back up perform a calf raise and hold it for a moment. By not standing fully flat footed you keep the tension up.
