She doesn't know how good of a husband he is. Guys like him are hard to find: someone open to another culture, willing to live wherever wife says, helps with housework, etc. I am really touched and impressed when I see people who are race-blind.. They respect and love people without race bias. I love this guy's outlook.

if i was him, she would have to move with me and our son back to ireland or spain for a better financial living conditions and our future for about 10 years then come back and live in korea plus during that time we can save lot of money and learn korean, we can also visit her parents on holidays but the way the current situation he's in, he's just moving backwards living in korea with her, not be able to find a job or properly communicate in korean just wasting time not only that in desperation he opens a massage store which wasnt a good idea either

Xx1SAGE Spain is going through a tough time... South Korea is better to live right now. Nowadays the new generations have to leave Spain to get a job. It's sad, I know... Europe isn't as good as it seems.
seriously like he was an Engineer in Ireland like your not making millions but your living comfortably. From an Engineer to a dishwasher, he seems like a good guy but if I were him I would take the family and move.
Same for Korea. Nowadays, 90% of the young South Koreans leave the country to work overseas because life is tough in Korea.

After watching these episodes one thing that I noticed is whether it is man or woman ,after marrying a Korean they have to sacrifice many things.

Makes me so mad to see her nagging him "if he does not want to get a real job". He gave up so much for her. And this thing about "older people eating first", she could have told him later too...after the meal.
She is older than him. That’s why their dynamic is mother and son dynamic
lol, Kevin is in Spanish time when serving his dinner, because 9 pm is not that late to eat dinner in Spain. I remember when I was in Madrid, I wanted to eat dinner at 7 pm, but couldn't find any restaurant in the area I was staying that would serve me dinner . The owner took pity on me and let me eat tapas instead. Mind, I was the only one in there and the restaurant section wasn't even opened yet.
Kevin is such a happy, talkative guy and a great compliment to his wife. He knows how to cook, does housework, affectionate to his in-laws/family, and diligent. His parents raised him well. I'd love to have a taste of that paella, that jamon and frittata.

It just irks me a bit how he gave up his high earning stable job because his wife was feeling homesick. At least she has something to do in Korea, but Kevin can't even put his skills to work

J Bang I wouldn't say that but it might've made sense to delay the move a bit and for him to do some intense language course. Because it seems like they pretty much just got up and left.
there were there for what three years. some people just don't adjust well and if you are the type that can adjust well, you move. some people value happiness over money.
J Bang yeah well, if you have to lower your living standards significantly and can't do the profession you love, I'd say those are factors that make you unhappy. And the point is not how long they were there but rather how long the whole moving process took. The way they described it, they just basically packed their bags and left. I'm sure there was an intesive language course somewherr he could've taken to at least be at a decent level of Korean and be eligible for work before they left.
@KPop Rocks ! How is he a freeloader? - I can guarantee he opened that business with the money he saved and accumulated. Also, people move - she met him there whilst she was studying - so she wanted to go abroad initially - assuming, she didn't try very hard to settle in - no country is easy for anyone to settle into - but they should've come to a proper compromise before up and leaving. You can't blame him solely for not learning Korean - if you saw his day it's pretty chaotic - I think you're being too judgemental and rude, if you haven't walked a mile in someone else's shoes you shouldn't speak about them.
Kevin's an engineer?? omg!! Felt so bad to see him quit his job just to be with his wife. It would have been better if his wife is abit understanding. Yes, it's obvious that she will face some problem in the new country but eventually she will be ok with the new environment. Even for Kevin Korea is a new country. But still he is adjusting. I know I will probably get attacked for saying this but his wife is hella ungrateful. I don't care if saying "I love you" or being grateful is not part of your culture but some things like common APPRECIATION are important in a relationship. He seems to be doing so much and yet she still has the audacity to nag him about finding work. Girllll how about you go to Spain or any other country and try getting a job in your field. I hope she puts in effort in the relationship before its too late.
She does put in effort and seems to really love him. I agree she didn't have to nag about the job thing but she did agree to starting a massage cafe because he wanted to. The awkwardness with her not expressing her feelings is just because of her personality and she tried to change it.
The thing that bothered me most was her berating him in front of her parents. No adult should have to be taunted in front of their in-laws - it's a simple thing to learn. I think he seems to go out of his way for her and I'm surprised honestly by how quickly they came to Korea - I would have assumed she'd support him till he was able to learn Korean - like a number of other couples in this series have when they request their family move to Korea.

The wife is such a nightmare. He left his life and family in Spain just so she could be back to her country. He is trying his best to help out at the restaurant and she questions him for not getting a job?she should be as supportive as he is towards her. So self centered.
Love the show doesn't matter if it scripted or not it deals with reality, everyone's common struggles which is to succeed and attain good quality of life. Nothing against Korea, but I wouldn't' choose it to relocate to for the simple fact is their work/lifestyle ethic seems very rushed high pressured working very long hours.
their work ethic and crazy hours is what brought them up from third world to 11th largest economy in the world. koreans be hustling. work hard, play hard
Yes! I admire them for their hard work for their drive, but what I don't like is the older generations have a negative attitude automatically toward the way foreigners work just because they may come from another country that may have a more relax way of working doesn't mean your lazy.
Even for Koreans, dealing with older Koreans are very tough and very stressful. The generational gap in Korea is like night and day. However, they are a passing generation anyway. Time will change Korea forever.
I can understand why Kevin is frustrated... It's just so hard to live in another country especially when you can't speak the language or know the culture well. It's already hard enough EVEN when knowing the language...

As long as he can speak Korean I think he'll be fine. He's such a wonderful husband. He came to Korea and is doing all the housework even though he probably makes way more money than what his wife makes in Korea.

I love how Kevin is struggling with the Korean language and culture but yet he’s so open to learning and works so hard yet his wife just nags him and isn’t content. She needs to be more affectionate or else he will leave. Poor guy can’t catch a break

So sad for a husband to have to ask his wife to give him a compliment, but truly he’s begging for affection! It’s hard to blame her since she grew up in such a cold culture, but I truly hope she realizes that she needs to change or one day he’ll feel so lonely that he will tell her that they are going back to Spain where he has family to give him the love he needs and deserves.

I grew up in the border with France (Catalunya), we don't speak like this. He sounds to be from somewhere in the south of Spain.
My first thoughts as someone who has their own business was why didn’t he just start a small business. So happy they actually decided to do that! Can’t find a job make an opportunity for yourself. Hope they have continued success in their marriage and business

Seriously. I feel like they just pretend to be sweet and make these cheerful shows with cheerful jingles! The reality over there is quite the opposite with a lot of racist and cold people. I won't say everyone is like that but they do a good job in promoting their country in a positive cheerful way but sometimes we can't help but accept that it's all fake.
