Just Finished building it! Had a hard time dealing with the blazes and the magma cubes that were spawning in the platform all the time, but when you put down the roses everthing is settled. Very good farm and i'm glad i built it
@@antonhagerstrom the rates will be nearly zero. Like super slow, you’d be better off just hunting in the fortress at that point. If you pick a good spot in only takes a few hours tbh.

Built this farm today. One thing you don't mention is that the Soul Sand Valley spawn mechanics that make this farm great also mean building it in survival is utter hell, even with fire resist pots and a beacon on Resist/Regen. Anyone building on an open fortress might as well start by walling in the 25x25 area for the platform or they'll have to content with dozens of Blazes and Ghasts blowing everything up all the time. Current rates per 30 minutes: 15 heads, 6 stacks coal, 10 stacks bone. Spawn proofed the fortress as far as I can tell but I have loads of open terrain around for Soul Sand Valely mobs to spawn. Will see if adding Striders helps.
True, probably should have mentioned that. I would definitely look around for a other biomes as well within the spawning sphere to see if that helps. Good luck!
I need some help I built it and nothing is spawning I spawn proofed the whole thing but only thing different is that after the carpet I just carried on with the whole fortress in carpet which is dumb but nothing spawns
This farm does work in 1.21, and is very effective, I'm getting a lot of skulls per minute, I would recommend only spawn proofing the fortress and just turning your render distance all he way down when farming, works wonderfully, literally simpler and easier than any other farm I've seen while still getting very good rates and with minimal spawn proofing.

I will definitely be using this design! I didn't want to mess with the portal method or transporting the piglin, so this seems great. And I have a huge soul sand valley with a fortress, hopefully it has the right kind of bridge in a good spot.
Great Farm. I got lucky with all 128 block sphere being inside the warped forest. I just thoroughly slabbed the entire fortress. Its so quiet except for wither skeles getting sliced to bits. I find that I have to move away from the killing area about 40 blocks and afk for 30-60 seconds as the killing chamber fills up. If I stand right at killing spot rates are allot slower. Im playing on an PaperMC SMP server. I am getting comparable rates to that in description.
As a bedrock player i tried this and it works great. Only problem is that you cant add a ton of wither roses. You have to make a maze with them. Another than that its great!!

Thanks for this! Every other variant seems to be portal based and way OP for my server of 5 people or involve transporting dogs thousands of blocks and all of the additional building required to use them when I'd rather just afk it with looting 3.
I built a glass barrier around my farm because my carpets kept burning and turning render distance all the way down really helps. Side note check out easy going mc’s tutorial on item sorters without water and for the skulls and sword don’t use a filter just let the go into a separate chest
Great tips. Ghasts can be pesky with the carpet. And great idea with the item sorters. I have a tutorial on my channel, but it’s probably harder to find than Impulses video is :)
this farm works, note you do need to spawn proof! Setting both your render distance and simulation distance all down to the least, for me it made more spawn. I am working on spawn proofing, but for now it spawns skeletons every 20-30 seconds, drops are good. Need looting 3
This farm is awsome and if you want to build it close to your base portal you can lower render distance at the farm to 2 and you only have to spawn proof a tiny area this should make it get more rates no matter the biome

Here is a suggestion: I recommend not getting the nether bricks before starting the building of the farm. The first step of building the farm should provide you with enough nether bricks to build the second step
If I afked above the nether roof, and had the wither skeletons pushed by lava into a portal to be killed in the over world, would this work? This would be to avoid as much spawn proofing as possible. Great vid btw!
If you guys need the wither roses just search up wither rose dupuclation glich and there should be one where you need 2 grass blocks, one wither rose, top snow and one button and then you will end up with infinite wither roses
With the Ice and Fire mod, this is perfect for me because of the graveyards! Thank you so much :) This helps me quite a lot. On modded minecraft, because of the amount of new mobs, it's more difficult to spawn wither skeletons.

The build looks great but I have a quick question. I just got my first wither kill in my survival and got 88 roses from the chickens I put in the spawn room. Could I use those on the platform for now and just put slabs on the dirt I have to go, then use the skulls obtained from the farm to get the final roses. I understand that means my rates will be lowered but it should work for the time being right? Thanks
i spawn proofed everything BUT the soul sand ind the doul sand valley and it doesn't work. there are spawning tons of monsters in the valley but 0 in the farm
Incredible value farm bro. Didn't take that long and only spawn proofed the fortress. Getting 130 skulls an hour. If I added 40 or so striders then it'd be well over 200.
@@samchrischristopher4786 They are but they affect the mob cap in a way that allows you to create a perimeter without actually having one. Gnembon has a video on it that explains it much better.
Great video, I’ll hopefully make this but I have a question. I found a fortress that is partially in a soul sand valley biome and partially in the nether wastes. The issue is that there are no crossroads in the soul sand valley portion, except for one with the wall thing surrounding it. If I destroy the blocks and make it flat like the one you used in the video, will it still work?
You have to use the normal crossroads. It’ll work but you need to spawn proof any part of the nether wastes within 128 blocks of your afk spot. Join my discord if you need further explanation. Minihud mod is your friend here

Is there an alternative to using carpets? Specifically something that can't burn (trying to light up enough of the farm easily, to "turn off" the spawns, and I've done 3 layers.
im having some trouble with the farm, I have mob proofed all the nether other than soulsand walley, and i can see that no mobs are spawning other than in there, but the farm works great for the first 30 mins of afking, but then slowly comes to a stop as the skeletons nearby slowly completely fill up the mob cap... what am i doing wrong?
@@vader0512 I used a flint and steel to like up all of the soulsand valley which stopped skeletons from spawning, but as of now ghasts alone fill up the whole mop cap, i took a screenshot at one point and counted over 50 of them. So to answer your question, no.
I have build this in a warped forest on a sever but no wither skeletons have spawned yet do I need to remove the fortress crossways? Yes I did spawn proofed the fortress and other biomes but till now not single wither skeleton have spawned
@@tayachothman5615 When I was looking into it I found it could actually be an issue with the wither roses. If you move your world out of the version you generated it in, it will cause issues.
You could possibly add one more layer but it might break the farm as the wither skeletons could fall thru and potentially hit the golem. You could test it out tho

I don’t know if it’s because this farm doesn’t work in the newer version of Minecraft or just doesn’t work in bedrock, but it really does come at this time of you’re playing on bedrock please do not wish your time building thisfarm It does not work.
I built mine in a crossroad with overhangs but I cleared them and I built the farm, spawn proofed, and added around half the wither roses, but im not getting that many spawns. Do I have to rebuild it in a regular crossroad?
I've done this farm exactly how you've done it and even if I'm to stand on top of the spawn proofed area the either skeletons won't spawn, do I have to be patient and wait a bit longer or have could their be anything wrong (I'm in soul sand valley in bedrock)

Yes, they will. Definitely check you’ve got all the other biomes in the area besides soulsand valley and warped forest too. Even a little bit can severely harm rates
Yep! Gotta fill it with wither roses. Try the minihud mod and see if stuff starts spawning. Also make sure you’re afking 24 blocks below platform, you may have mis counted possibly
Why have I only gotten like two to spawn in maybe 5-7 minutes? I'm on a server in the basalt deltas where the fortress is, I'm in hard mode, and afk down 24 blocks.

couldnt you just use lava with fences at the appropriate places instead of pistons edit: yes you can use a lava funnel just make sure to be cautious of light levels, i thinks its like 6 blocks down to make sure all light levels are below 7 in the rose area.
Yeah, otherwise other mobs will spawn and fill the mob cap/kill the golem. If you don’t have enough wither roses, just don’t place those dirt blocks in and add more as you can
Like say you have half the wither roses, use that to have half the platform, and then you can use the wither skulls you get from the farm to get more roses

It works in those biomes yes. Just need to do more spawn proofing. You really need the full amt of wither roses. You could progressively add more roses as you go, just make sure they can’t spawn on non wither roses blocks
Is there any need to place the stone walls? cant you just replace them with the glas or something just so items and the withers dont glitch on the corners and so on?

Add striders, breaking bedrock wouldn’t help much due to the changes a couple years ago now. You could find a quad or double intersection and build there and make it bigger by expanding the area
Would just need maybe one more chute? And way to consolidate. You’d have to test the range on their agro to the iron golem and make sure any skele that spawns pathfinds to it

I've never made a wither skeleton farm before but this video changed that, just made this on a 1.19 paper server and it works flawlessly.

Spent 20 hours spawn proofing the soul valley around it, it finally worked!!!

You would have to have dogs kill them on the other side to get the rare drops, otherwise you will not get skulls

I got 8 boxes of tnt in survival and im just wondering if "spawn proofing" can be just by you know.. removing all of the blocks.
That'll work as long as you spawn proof the correct range... I plan on doing the same thing

you can do that but i would make a wither rose farm because if you want to make more layers and more layers is so much worth it

So there is a crimson forest close to the fortress, would it be more worth it to just find a new fortress completely in the soul sand valley...
depends, if ti completly envolps the fortress then yes, if its just like a corner or something lava and slabs will be good for spawnproofing it

@@vader0512 I used a flint and steel to like up all of the soulsand valley which stopped skeletons from spawning, but as of now ghasts alone fill up the whole mop cap, i took a screenshot at one point and counted over 50 of them. So to answer your question, no.
I have build this in a warped forest on a sever but no wither skeletons have spawned yet do I need to remove the fortress crossways? Yes I did spawn proofed the fortress and other biomes but till now not single wither skeleton have spawned

@@tayachothman5615 When I was looking into it I found it could actually be an issue with the wither roses. If you move your world out of the version you generated it in, it will cause issues.

You could possibly add one more layer but it might break the farm as the wither skeletons could fall thru and potentially hit the golem. You could test it out tho

Does this still work in 1.18.2? Just built it and even after spawn proofing the entire nether fortress and lowering render distance I cant even get 1 wither skeleton to spawn...any ideas?
Same did you end up fixing it? If so how? I’m playing on 1.20.1 but after spawn proofing and lowering render distance nothing still spawns
@@bluez0774I ended up having to fully rebuild it in a soul sand valley. Once I did that it worked great
I don’t know if it’s because this farm doesn’t work in the newer version of Minecraft or just doesn’t work in bedrock, but it really does come at this time of you’re playing on bedrock please do not wish your time building thisfarm It does not work.

No they will not spawn outside the fortress bounding box
I built mine in a crossroad with overhangs but I cleared them and I built the farm, spawn proofed, and added around half the wither roses, but im not getting that many spawns. Do I have to rebuild it in a regular crossroad?

im sorry but no matter how far i go i cant seem to spawn proof enough to get more than 1 skeleton every few minutes. im in 1.17, java, no mods.
You must build it in warped forest or soul sand valley
And you must spawnproof the fortress and any other biome within 128 blocks of your farm
I've done this farm exactly how you've done it and even if I'm to stand on top of the spawn proofed area the either skeletons won't spawn, do I have to be patient and wait a bit longer or have could their be anything wrong (I'm in soul sand valley in bedrock)
Uhh bedrock it might not work. I’m not sure how it can be modified. Try looking thru comments to see if it works or not for other people and maybe reach out to them. Sorry dude
@@EasyGoingMC all good now I've just seen the bedrock players comment where he's made a maze of the either roses, you should try make a withsr farm for bedrock though to help people like me out and make their life easier
when I leave and come back, the skeletons are there, but when I stand there, none of them appear. What could be the reason? They are not in any other place because I built everything with slabs

Yes, they will. Definitely check you’ve got all the other biomes in the area besides soulsand valley and warped forest too. Even a little bit can severely harm rates

Yep! Gotta fill it with wither roses. Try the minihud mod and see if stuff starts spawning. Also make sure you’re afking 24 blocks below platform, you may have mis counted possibly

Yes it can be built in any biome, you’ll just have more spawn proofing to do
i accidently changed from 1.18 snapshot into 1.17 and deleted 17 auto farms that took my 3 weeks to make the biggest ones work and now its all gone..

Why have I only gotten like two to spawn in maybe 5-7 minutes? I'm on a server in the basalt deltas where the fortress is, I'm in hard mode, and afk down 24 blocks.
probs because you are on a server other people are taking up the mob cap

couldnt you just use lava with fences at the appropriate places instead of pistons
edit: yes you can use a lava funnel just make sure to be cautious of light levels, i thinks its like 6 blocks down to make sure all light levels are below 7 in the rose area.

Yeah, otherwise other mobs will spawn and fill the mob cap/kill the golem. If you don’t have enough wither roses, just don’t place those dirt blocks in and add more as you can
Like say you have half the wither roses, use that to have half the platform, and then you can use the wither skulls you get from the farm to get more roses

@@quinndonath7958 my guess is you missed spawning spaces - make sure that there are no other biomes nearby where mobs are spawning... if it’s on a server I can come take a look

It works in those biomes yes. Just need to do more spawn proofing. You really need the full amt of wither roses. You could progressively add more roses as you go, just make sure they can’t spawn on non wither roses blocks

Yes, so more than one skeleton can drop at a time. Otherwise they get stuck

You put up temporary walls but you also could just go ahead and slab the fortress before finishing since you’ll have to do that anyways

I keep getting magma cubes falling down and blocking the pistons open so the skeletons get stuck on the open pistons, any way to trigger the piston other than a trip wire?

My farm doesnt work. I have no idea what I did wrong. Not even one skleton spawn on this roses. I didnt make exactly same farm, but the roses and golem are the same. Now skeletons dont spawn anywhere....

If you didn’t spawn proof correctly and you there are multiple people in the nether than yeah possibly. Also,. If it’s not vanilla it could mess it up

Add striders, breaking bedrock wouldn’t help much due to the changes a couple years ago now. You could find a quad or double intersection and build there and make it bigger by expanding the area
Would just need maybe one more chute? And way to consolidate. You’d have to test the range on their agro to the iron golem and make sure any skele that spawns pathfinds to it
