Spectrum Cable Box No Audio - Call Your Cable Company

  • We were on a service call, and thought this was an interesting problem to make note of. No audio on the TV from the cable box was the symptom. Spectrum was the provider. To verify it was not the TV, we checked the bluray player and did have audio from that. We also replaced the HDMI cable from the box and tried a different HDMI input on the TV from the box. This cable box was a Spectrum 210
    Things to check first:
    1) Go into settings and audio of your cable box menu (this video shows how for this specific box) and make sure the HDMI audio output is selected to HDMI. You may see options such as dolby digital or other. Select HDMI since more than likely you are using an HDMI cable out of your box.
    2) Unplug cable box from electricity, wait 10 - 30 seconds, and plug back in.
    3) If you still have no audio (like we did) call cable company and see if they can run an audio diagnostics/repair on your box.
    4) This is not a guarantee that contacting the cable company will fix this every time, depending on who you get, your company and your box model, the box may need to be replaced.
    Generally when you call the cable company for a box problem you may get the answer to replace the box, or have a service call. It was nice to see a setting change on spectrums side corrected this issue instead of changing out your cable box.

    I could understand this clear explanation! Very helpful. Thank you. Stephen formerly at NASA. I Analyzed the trace elements in the moon rocks in the 1970's. Later I invented Bcalm to stop panic attacks by removing CO2 from indoor and vehicle places which can trigger panic attacks because the CO2 in those places can be 200 to 300 % as high as outdoor fresh air. And I co-invented Narcan with David Sinclair in Finland. But despite all that I needed your help to fix my TV. Thank you!!!

    I had this same issue for two Cisco brand receivers from Spectrum. I thought the new LG oled had an issue until I set up an older tv in the bedroom with the same issue. This only happened after I paired the Spectrum remotes to work with the tv's, prior to that the audio was fine. Thanks for the heads up

    Before anyone says the TV still had no audio in your video, we had the TV muted during the recording of the video.

    I haven't had audio for almost 5 days. Paying $166 a month and can't watch TV. I checked the HDMI setting. I unplugged the Receiver and waited. Still no audio. This isn't the first time this has happened. Went to website and talked with a tech...no help at all. Called Spectrum and he said no such thing as Audio Diagnostic fix. They want to send a technician and charge me. It's already been 5 days. I am thinking to just cancel tv service. Last technician that came to my house said my tv speakers were bad and to buy a soundbar. I am so upset I am in tears. I just can't get anywhere with Spectrum and I am so frustrated.

    I ran a sound diagnostic test and that fixed the audio

    I did all that i can hear the channels but not the apps like netflix or utube

      If you have a cable box or satellite box and can hear the audio from the TV channels (coming from the cable/satellite box), but can't hear audio from apps like netflix, the problem is in your TV, or streaming device with the apps....such as a fire stick, roku, apple TV etc...
      Unplug from power (not just turn off), the device you watch your apps on, (TV, apple TV, firestick roku), wait 5 minutes and plug it back in. See if audio returns from the apps. If not do a factory reset on that device, then check for audio.
