thank you for this video! My struggle is I can pick a winning trade 6 out of 10 times, but when I'm in it I don't have the confidence to hold it and get out too soon due to lingering doubts from previous losses.

This video was great! I placed to trades, won one of them and lost the other... This helped me realise that my decision making was the reason I lost one. I have a system that I follow, and I saw a similar system and thought id give it a go not being fully confident. The outcome as above is the result of that. Lesson learnt, TRUST MY SYSTEM! I now have my confidence back and ready to go again! Thank you!

Yet another video from Sensei Mark that hits home for this aspiring trader. I've been reflecting after some big losses and I totally agree; it feels horrible to lose but you absolutely have to frame it as a good thing: "What expensive lesson did I just buy?"

I think confidence comes from knowing when to enter and exit trades to make a profit and the only way to do that is to get experience and learn which comes from incurring financial losses and the accompanying emotional turmoil which makes us focus and try harder next time. So, in the beginning, after some big, very hurty losses, (and stroke-inducing rages) I've learned to keep the trades really small (pennies profits and losses - if possible) until I've developed a working knowledge of the market and its movement patterns (and a bigger equity level). After 4 months in the game, I realise now it's all about learning rather than earning, for a long time. Confidence will (hopefully) come later. But I think perseverance and experience are definitely the keys to building confidence. Love your videos, Mark.
Thanks for a great video. It's nice to be reminded. That really works for me. After win or loss doing trade autopsy the next day and seeing what I can learn from the losses and trading to the best of my current strategy. And not being hard on myself if I slip up here and there.

Great video Mark! I know what market conditions I like to scalp in and I know what I don't. If we get a day I don't like the price action I'll just stop after a couple hours. Yes conditions might change later in the day and become clearer and more to my liking but before that happens I'm likely to have several losses and hurt my confidence. I'd rather start fresh the next day with confidence still in tact.

The two ways I achieved this was to have over 100 positions open, this made cutting a loser the moment it didn’t go my way very easy as I had 99 other positions that made sense. The second was by asking, if I didn’t own this asset, based on these technicals, then would I buy it now? If I would the I keep the asset , if I wouldn’t then it makes 0 sense to hold it. Keep up the great work, love this content!

in my eyes Consistency builds Confidence and we all know the way to build that is with winning trades, we know your not going to win every trade, you want a good winning percentage..

Nice video. As amatour i got strategy tested with 60% wins out of around 100 backtests and everytime i read chart waiting for signal (trying conservative approach) and i enter and loss every time. R/R 1/1. Not easy to get confidence back then.ps what books You guys recomend to start with. Thanks
my problem is that I tend to get greedy and over leverage myself. then my ego convinces me to forget the stop loss cuz egos like your always and you are 100% correct always and it will play out as I desire. haha then Im like ego, sorry u aint my amigo splash some cold water on the face or drop and bust some burpees or break out my journal and check myself... well its a work in progress actually my weeknesses aren't exactly all accounted for, I find new ones all the friggin time o.O
Hello, thanks for another great video. Could we have a bit more technical video at some point as well please. And by technical I mean I’m curious what platform do you use to trade, how many screens do recommend and how to select the right broker especially for spread betting. I’ve heard some warning messages agains market makers etc and that would be great if you could maybe clarify some of those things.
We use a number of brokers - some recommended ones www.financial-spread-betting.com/spreadbetting/compare-spreads.html You need to stick to reputable European regulated brokers and you will be okay. Market makers don't get much love but at the end of the day you need someone at the other end to open a trade.
Overtrading ruins confidence
There is only 1 indicator that gives you a clear starting point of every move. Clarity : confidence.
That's not how i build my confidence, it's on backtesting new or even old modified ideas every day... That' why i'm sure the next day i will improve. It's a dynamic process. I always compare strategies and indicators, the problem is, very few are consistent... always switching my mind. And in the moment i don't have time either.
