RE: PAUSING, EXPRESSIONS & AIR-INSTRUMENTS:
Please be mindful that we will pause (we prefer to react in the moment & to avoid copyright strike), we will react with enthusiasm, smiles, tears, conversation, exchanged looks and air-instruments. We are expressive by nature and are truly very quirky in every sense of the word. This is who we are and this is what we’ve got to offer. We understand it may not be for everyone, but here's to hoping you all enjoy and we absolutely love positive comments and feedback.

'Headlights on the parade' of The Blue Nile .............
One of the best songs ever !!!!!!
Sublime. Everything they've ever done
God bless you kid, and everything you did.
There's that fur ball!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Marley sighting right from the get go!!!🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶
The Blue Nile are one of music's best kept secrets but they were championed by Peter Gabriel & Rickie Lee Jones and their songs have been covered by Rod Stewart and Annie Lennox...they only released 4 records over a 20 year recording career with very few live performances...but their first two albums were given rare 5 star reviews by the prestigious Q Magazine who also voted Hats in their top 100 Albums of the Century. This song is from their third CD and while it's good their best songs are from their earlier releases...the shimmering melancholy beauty and doomed romanticism of Downtown Lights and Saturday Night...and their anthem for their and my own home city of Glasgow, Tinseltown in the Rain. When it's dark and raining and you are feeling reflective and introspective the Blue Nile is your soundtrack.
Haven’t heard anyone reference Blue Nile for a minute! Lets hear it!
😊
'Tinsel town in the rain' and 'stay' are another 2 great songs
Hi Nick, I have not heard of this group, but I really enjoyed that. This was played through my computers small external speakers, which are pretty good, but not a patch on my 3 foot high main hi fi speaker system, so this would sound even better. I would definitely like to hear more. Thankyou for playing. Byee Jim X
Glad you enjoyed Nick ! Sting bought tickets for every night that they played at the Royal Albert Hall !! A great band I love every single song, album ....a very special band !! I hope everyone enjoyed it !!
Saw them in Liverpool when this album first came out in 90s. They opened up with “ Over the hillside “ from Hats album. From the opening sound me & my brother were absolutely mesmerized 🎶🙏🏽💚
no such thing as a bad blue nile track, absolutely love all albums
The Blue Nile were an incredible band. Would love to see you and Lex react to their song "The Downtown Lights." It's a gorgeously atmospheric, romantic piece.
They do this with Chris Botti. Beautiful song.
This song is perfectly fine, but it's not one of their best. One of the greatest atmospheric tracks ever is The Blue Nile's "The Downtown Lights". It's just basically gorgeous. As is the lush, polyrhythmic "Headlights On The Parade" or the breakthrough on their debut "Tinseltown In The Rain". THOSE are the songs to hear first. The ones that get used in movies and TV shows because they're evocative. The ones that musicians play for other musicians. Try out these songs Nick, you will dig it! I promise you, you will both love them because you appreciate all kinds of good music.
It was a toss of a coin between the downtown light and love come down!!
i wen+ +o Sco+land jus+ +o see 'em in concer+ in 2008 or so; was incredible; 2 shows....
I really liked this! I know that The Blue Nile were well received in the UK critically in the 80's/90's, but I never got to hear them. I am certainly going to follow up on them. Thanks Michael and Nick.
Great journey Richard 👌enjoy our friend 👍
Love The Blue Nile. As an adopted Glaswegian I thank you for this one! You really need to do Tinseltown in the Rain too. Actually as tomorrow is St Andrew's Day here in Scotland how about a wee Scottish themed #nicknlexrequest ? I'd start with a rousing medley from the Scotland 'boom years' of the 1980s. Big Country - In a Big Country, Deacon Blue - Dignity Texas - I Don't Want a Lover and The Proclaimers - 500 miles. So many great bands came out of Scotland in the 80s!
Yeah Tinseltown in the rain is a song, super and much under rated band
Enjoyable first listen. Much more jazz oriented than I was expecting. I wanted it to go on a little longer...that's a sign of a good song.
The Blue Nile are amazing! Downtown Lights
Wow! Someone reacting to The Blue Nile? One of rocks best kept secrets! 'Tinsel Town in the Rain' next please!
Tinseltown in the Rain is my favourite.
I used to love the River Detectives from Glasgow. They were like Simon and Garfunkel.
Wow I forgot about this band. Very cool reminds me of The Waterboys
Two of my favourite bands my Matt.
This band originated in Glasgow, Scotland and were much in demand as producers by other artists due to their "studio wizardry". The original, (and best?), lineup imploded after the third album, but the band continues to this day with original guitarist/vocalist Paul Buchanan and others. Interestingly, their first album "Walk Across the Rooftops" was commissioned by Glasgow based Hi Fi Manufacturers Linn Products in order to best display their equipment's capabilities in dealers showrooms, Hi Fi Shows and the like. For, IMO, the finest display of the aforementioned "studio wizardry" I'd strongly recommend the track "From Rags to Riches", an absolute "tour de force". Link below:

Check out their Hats album there’s not a bad track on it
Absolutely Duncan 👌
Try Tinsel Town In The Rain by the same band
Strange Choice for this great band but still Buchanan a voice still shines through
Sounds like the lead singer from Marillion.
I keep waiting for Natalie Merchant to start singing.
Tocate una de la renga NICK
Honestly, it was okay. Didn't really do much for me. Pretty mediocre IMHO. But that's just me.
Thumbs up for a good video with good guitar playing by Nick. I m always amazed at how quickly you figure things out. You have a great ear Nick.
Strange song to start on. It's fairly a-typical (and mediocre) for their sound (more guitars, less keyboards) and on this record the classics are Family Life and Happiness. Their classic albums are the first two. Have you checked out any of these already?
Not mediocre for me, I love this song :) Buchanan's voice is achingly gorgeous.
I've probably see Blue Nile videos on local LA Video shows back in the day. But this was really cool, something I'd add to a "Chill Out Already" Playlist. Almost an uncategorizable genre of music that is sort-of Alternative, but not. Agree with Peter and Sting, and someone like Robbie Robertson. I guess "Contemporary Adult"?
- Really enjoyed them :).
