I have a 2001 my son and I are turning into a pull truck with compounds 850 hp is the goal 6 speed and suggestion would be awesome totally new to this haven’t even pulled but getting ready for next year now so I’m watching you tube trying to learn
Short but lengthy answer no. 2001 2nd gen Cummins chassis we trussed and built every last bit of in house… The reason being the first Gen chassis wasn’t thick enough and it wasn’t boxed. Also we were getting rid of leafs and doing coil overs. 2nd gen chassis is just a stronger and more practical base point. Lots of pullers other than the superstock class will build on 2nd gen chassis to the superior chassis design. It’s becoming more common to see Open Run what ya brung class trucks to have the setup of a superstock but built onto a 2nd gen chassis but it’s not the best at that power level but it’s just a ballin on a budget at that point. Our chassis before this was actually off a 73 Dodge I do believe. The truck was actually a single cab but it was cut in half and made a ext cab. Built one of the better runnin hot street trucks back then. Our 1st gen chassis just did to many goofy flexing things.
@@evanrichardson101 that’s exactly what I was thinking I just figured I’d ask I’m starting my 2.6 first Gen build and planted on ditching the original frame for a second or 3rd Gen Frame. Thanks for the reply!
