      Death matches don’t really work imo unless the story is really good. Dustin vs Cody from DON wasn’t really a death match but it was a pretty brutal match and the story was top notch and I loved that match.

    If he just toned it down a bit we'd be cool. But you need color to mean something and for Mox, it doesnt. Also we remember stuff like ECW through blood tinted glasses. Tommy Dreamer, Raven, Taz, Foley, they were weren't bleeding every week. They were taking crazy bumps every week. But that didnt ALWAYS result in color.

    *Moxley is that kid who thought busting himself open was enough to be a big star & never wavered even when lucking into the big leagues, I did all that stupid shlt as a kid, had multiple concussions from being thrown about like a ragdoll & now as an adult I get constant migraines & am unable to sleep most nights, all thanks to reckless youth, something Ambrose/Moxley should have grown out of years ago.*

    There was a time in the build-up to his WM match with Brock when Dean was viewed as the relatable everyman. But, for the last 18 months in AEW, his character has lost the plot. Why the bleeding? Why so much of it, all of the time?

  • @robertosoto2505
    @robertosoto2505 8 месяцев назад +5

    I agree with you, he always had a great character and great mic skills, and if the industry itself give him the opportunity to have one on one single matches he could expose his great in ring athlestism. But it seems to me like he has a plot device of being someone who is intended to have hardcore bloody matches all the time (just like Mick Foley), and not focusing on the in ring athletism.
    I'm glad you brought this subject up, people complain about ''wrestling doing flips and not having a story in their match''................ that's false, even if you're a flippy highflyer there is a story in the ring; plus doing flips is not bad, flips with no selling is the problem. Hardcore wrestling is something i've always find myself hard to get into these days, cuz like you said this isn't the late 90's anymore. Once i started to tune into other Promotions in the 2010's like ROH, NJPW & Rev Pro i loved the athletism inside the ring. That was the counterpart of WWE & TNA's goofyness back then.

      He was great on the mic in the Shiled days, he was even better than Seth tbf. I'd argue that his mic skill carried the Shield in it's initial year. Some people at the time (me included) believed he was gonna be a bigger star than Seth and Roman. After Shield was when the problems started. His character became the stale and boring unhinged guy that just wanted to beat people up for no apparent reason. If he ever invested more time into developing his persona/gimmick and stop bleeding all the time he'd be a huge draw, he's definitely got talent.

    I like Jon Moxley, I thought he was great in the WWE and always made me want to root for him. He felt like a big deal when AEW first started. He still ocassionally has an amazing match, but he's grown a bit stale for me around the time the BCC formed and started feuding with Jericho. I don't think it's necessarily Moxley's fault, I think it's cause of AEW's super erratic booking. They have abysmal pacing, very few interesting stories, random matches with no reason/no stakes. They over-feature some wrestlers, while others get one TV match per year. Zero finesse. Like, of course Jon Moxley is gonna get repetitive as opposed to special (as they want him to be perceived) if they have him wrestle random dudes every week without any buildup. Especially cause he's never been that interesting in-ring, he needs a story
