People used to ask me why I joined the army during Vietnam instead of the safe comfortable navy. Easy answer- I can walk a hundred miles, can’t swim a hundred miles
Thanks to all now serving, those who have, and those who will in the future. I would like to add in that everyone on that boat is also a fire fighter from the Captain on down including all the Marines. FLY NAVY!!!
Michael,TRUE, So true but the people making this short video "most likely" didn't make a career in the Navy or be a Navy Brat. Interesting Name you have by the way. AEC USN RETIRED, Navy Brat, 1968-1989 Gordon L Wallace Jr.

I couldn't imagine myself being in the Navy, serving for 4+ years as a Starbucks barista and then call myself a Vet afterwards. They must get so much shit from their shipmates.
The differences design, just like the different COLORS, might help the higher ups from a longer distance, seeing what position they are. Just my humble opinion 😊 some might have a mic. Built in for listening to commands given. Every Navy ship I ever got the experience to ride on. All there ball caps had a different design on front. It might be for what department they serve in.

Then what do you call the pilots, airmen or sailors. My guess is they’d prefer to be called pilots.
@@stanmans NAVY SAILORS FIRST, BLACK SHOES = SHIP ORIENTED RATES- SPECIALIST. AIRMAN, BROWN SHOES = AIRDALES, AIRMAN RATES- SPECIALIST CONCERNED WITH, ABOUT FLYING. INTELLIGENCE, ENGINEERING RATES- SPECIALIST. FINALLY "SAILORS"

If we could stay away from the smart ass remarks, can somebody explain the significance of the different designs on the crew helmets?

What the comment said above me is true- but more commonly, units like to differentiate themselves.
