Not all moms wear capes and these moms actually do NOT want to be called superheroes.
Welcome to our first episode of Moms Actually! In this episode Moms Actually Talk About Identity. We share a little about ourselves and talk about not putting our identity into the title of mom or wife. We also discuss how we felt we no longer recognized ourselves after motherhood and the period of time we found ourselves resenting our partners and/or friends all while not asking for help or speaking our minds.
At the end of the episode (21:42), in our Hey MA! Segment we answer a complicated question for a mom that lost her identity in a relationship that ended suddenly and left nothing to her name.

As a man, this was super informative. We aren't mind readers. Lol. BUT being more aware of the need to create a safe enough space for a mom (and a woman) to be honest & vulnerable hit home.

My red flag was realizing I didn’t have a strong support system from friends and family so ultimately I had to cut off & set boundaries in the middle of healing physically & balancing being a mom and wife. All I can say is thank God for my husband.

I love, love, love this!!! My red flag was when I wanted out. I literally didn’t want to be a mom anymore or married and I was ready to walk away from it all. Deep down I knew I loved them but I was tired of serving them and just wanted all my time back. I woke up one day and started digging deeeeeeep to figure out how I could fix this and it was literally my own shame of never wanting to ask for help. I started asking for help and started finding pockets of joy throughout my day that fill my cup. Now I’m working on finding my tribe. I have no friends and I want a community so bad. Can’t wait for next week’s episode this was so refreshing to watch and it definitely makes me feel less lonely in this motherhood journey.

This platform is so much needed on many levels. The transparency is delivering and very supportive. From the pregnancy to raising children to juggling a career and not getting lost in the process.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching this . It’s funny how just the motherhood experience changes us and makes us relate to women we don’t even know. Being newly postpartum, I can relate so much to a lot of these points. I’m just starting to have an awakening and renewed self discovery after months of losing myself. I’ll be keeping these in mind . Can’t wait for more episodes ❤️

Literally after having my first baby in 2020 me and my husband made the decision for him to stay home and me work due to me making more income. In attempts to save on daycare because we were so afraid to let her go due to COVID. It has caused us to start over and we struggled finding appropriate childcare. At first we felt so crazy having me work and him be at home with the baby. But we soon realized that we were not alone & that many other couples have done the same. In my history of men in my family I’ve never seen men show up how my husband is willing too. So I definitely agree with verbalizing wanting and needing help.

Thank god I found this podcast. You ladies are beautiful. Still after 3 year of being a first time mom and now pregnant again with my second, I am trying to find my identity and make time for myself. I gave up on myself but I will definitely Work on finding my identity through this process.

One of my red flags were that I live day by day on autopilot. I had the weekend to myself (no kids) and I walk out the door on my way to the mall and guess what direction I head in!? To my daughters daycare on a weekend and without my daughter 😂🥴

This was SO GOOD. Im 5 wks postpartum and I'm experiencing mourning my former self. I often get anxious even thinking about returning to my previous circles and interacting with ppl who I know would never judge me and who love and can't wait to see me. I look at my wardrobe and wonder how I want to present myself now- it's mostly maternity clothes, a lot of the things I have I hate, what will fit, what is comfortable after a c-section? I'm having to change my body wash and deodorant because my hormones are still stabilizing and those products aren't working like they used to, it's wild!! Is it that I'm having to reinvent myself? Am I overthinking?? I wasn't prepped for this part!!😔
