- Few people know that there is a little Venice in the outskirts of Berlin. Tucked away near the Müggelsee, Neu Venediq is a postcard-perfect enclave of tranquil, tree-fringed canals, making it a great day-trip destination. Just take a canoe and explore! It's easily reachable by the S-Bahn from the center of Berlin in less than 1 hour.

It's the largest, most affordable and prospective capital in mainland Europe...
I have yet to see it for myself, but I have been advised to go live there rather than any other city in Europe, before.
I might just do that soon after the quarantine.
It is more about „the city vibe”. Berlin has it’s own unique vibe and climate, that only certain people are going to understand, even tho it’s 4mln city, there’s no a lot of “Berlin freaks” 🇩🇪😁

near the Rahnsdorf or S-bahn stations, you can row uninterrupted to Mueggelsee (lake). Gorgeous day out on a warm day. Yeah, some big, elaborate villas, with some seemingly out of place ramshackle little wooden houses, too - just to prove it is still Berlin :). Couple of bars and fish eateries with rowing docks. Big up, Kl Venedique
I went on Sunday with some erasmus friends thanks to your recommendation, we had a great day ! Also afterwards we had a currywurst surronded by Union Berlin fans and a couple of Biers. Keep it up !

It exists also twice: "New Venice" in the South and "Litte Venice" in the West
of Berlin.

I really like this idea of a weekend get away in a calm, green, quiet place.
Where I live, the idea of weekend freshment is going to cinemas/dining/shopping... which isn't really refreshing because you're still trapped in the vibes of a rushed, modern, city. I've reached to a point where seeing cars feels like poison to my eyes.
In Cardiff Bute Park used to run from the city centre all the way to the edge of the city on the east sde of the River Taff. It's crossed by major roads though. Then it goes past Llandaff Fields on one side & Pontcanna Fields on the other side both on the west side of the River Taff. Then it narrows at Western avenue where it's just the River Taff & the Taff Trail & then it meets Hailey Park in the north of the city.
In Brussels there is a green lung running from the southern edge of the city to the edge of Ixelles close to the city centre. It's the Sonian Forest to the south east of the city that narrows and meets the Bois de la Chambre.

Spreewald also has a similar vibe and it is really beautiful there. Over 200 canals which you can explore by taking a kayak or a canoe. There are also punting boats (so very much like Venice).
Same in Bruges in Belgium, Little Venice & Maida Vale in north London & the canal quarter in central Birmingham.

Love this, finding places I wouldn’t expect to visit. Guess this is just like a fancier version of Spreewald/Lubbenau? Just don’t show too many of the secrets or you’ll be invaded with tourists. :p
There are hundreds of lakes and waterways, not all totally close to Berlin. Have a look at a map :) on the Spree river, you could do the Märkische Umfahrt“ in about 10 days in a canoe, start in Erkner. Also Havel-Quellseen.
Done all that several times and will again and I’m not even from Berlin.

As a native speaker of English, I can assure you that nobody would say "New Venice"; however, they would say Neu-Venedig. Changing the name like that would only confuse an anglophone tourist.

New Venice gives new meaning to "draining the swamp". It is fascinating that Elon Musk is building his factory on a ridge of sand 7 km to the east. Until more recent centuries, Berlin would have been a poor place to live.
