I tend to do the loop when im there I avoid the rawson lake end by doing that part very early in the morning, and coming back past the falls on the return leg. I got caught in one hell of a storm as i was passing the hidden lake spot so just sat down for a while and hoped it would pass soon which it did. such a great hike takes around half a day and a bit. but as you say the drive back to calgary is by far the worst bit.
Good points. If I end up doing the whole thing solo, I’ll take that route. Did Rawson a few years back. It was closed due to Grizz activity when we were there. Yes, the commute back is the worst… One of these years we will get a camper van 😆.
@@Dogwalkerdave The worst part is the drive. thats why im in the mountains usually just before sunrise and i like to head back latest mid afternoon, if its towards evening i will just camp out somewhere and avoid the traffic I always have enough stuff in my pack to camp.
@@Dogwalkerdave That is true, I hike on my own 99% of the time so if im in a forest somewhere I can throw up a tarp get a fire going and just wait it out, not so easy with a group.

@@davebloggs that’s awesome. With others in tow (usually), that’s a tough one to swing.
