I love the direction they took this in. The vulnerability as they gaze into themselves in the middle of this black “abyss” is so evocative. Eli’s arrangement really hit home. Using super expressive Cesar to open and close was inspired. When his voice breaks on the word “cry” I pretty much break down. It wouldn’t have worked without Layne and Geoff providing the backbone for all those soaring vocals. Eli and Anthony together are just so well-suited. They sing in the same range but they have such different voices that they complement each other rather than compete. It was never one of my favorite songs - until now. Even though it makes me cry just a little bit every time, I think I’ve probably heard it about 100 times so far. When they released it on Patreon I had to take a break because emotionally I was wiped out. When they released it to the public I thought I could just listen without feeling…nope. A work of art
Go look at the credits. It's almost all Eli. He's a beast who is more than just a rock God. His lighting. His arrangement. His video work. They are all just so very talented
@@DanAngie Geoff does all arrangement for his channel. Until recently he split vp arranging duties with Layne. Now it's Layne, Geoff and Eli. Go look for yourself.
You were pretty good at mimicking Layne's beatboxing. Eli did the arranging, stage, lighting. This is gorgeous, heartrending, and wistful. A powerfully written song.
I like that you noticed the eye effects. I’ve been waiting for someone to mention that. Eli is amazing at lighting, AND he arranged this so he’s due most of the kudos. Another great reaction!
Voiceplay will always pay homage to the original, but Voiceplay it up every time! Usually the arrangements are done by either Geoff (bass) or Layne (beatbox), but not this one. This one was Eli, the rock tenor. Eli has been doing the lights and effects for several years. That run, run, run sequence with Eli's gestures on each and the light change on each was phenomenal. The only other arrangement Eli has done for them is Eleanor Rigby. That was three years ago. The arrangement was done and then their high tenor, Earl Elkins left before it was recorded. They had the option of rewriting the arrangement for four voices or bringing in a collaborator. They did neither. They recorded it as written, with Eli singing both tenor parts. Would love to see your reaction to that one, it is really wonderful. I hope we don't have to wait another three years for an Eli arrangement.
Eli also did an arrangement, before Earl Elkins left, of "Happy Birthday" with animated emoji characters "lip syncing" the words... That was before RUclips started their "Shorts" format, but the song would kinda fit there.
This so phenomenally fantastic!! These guys can do anything and turn it into gold. Had to grab me a box of tissues for this one. Cesar killed it with his emotions and I feel he deserves a hug, Eli did amazing with this arrangement. I have no words. I mean They all put so many emotions into this song. I was crying through most of it, and I have cried everytime I watch it. It is already on my playlist! Great reaction!!
It's pronounced as Garjoola. :) I think Cesar just blinked rather than his eyes changing colour. Could the put any more emotion into a song? This was Eli's arrangment and brilliant. The mirrors was Geoff's idea, to illustrate introspection. Not everyone gets that. Roxanne is another brilliant song I agree. VoicePlay don't so much cover as re-imagine songs. And their transitions always brilliant. Their editing skills are as incredible as their singing and arranging. They are multi-talented and so much fun.
I wanted to just crawl into my laptop and Cesar and Geoff. They both just made me feel this so much with their faces as much as their voices. Anthony and Eli took the top off of this song and Layne was insane with the beat boxing in the background. The background vocals were nuts and hit so hard. WOW!!! Another winner from Voiceplay.
They're use of sound and breath is masterful.... I really wish you had watched it a second time because there is so much going on and I want to know all about it You are one of the 1st that I go to for new music.
I always look foward to your Voice Play reactions- thanks! This one was a little different as high tenor, Eli, did the arrangement (usually it is Geoff or Layne doing the arrangements). So much of Eli's talents as he does the lighting and everything in this one.
THE BEST COVER I'VE EVER HEARD OF THIS SONG IS BY A GUY NAMED"Greg" from guitar 5000 sing with me. It's gotten over 14 million views in one year!!! Nothing has come close to that guy it just him a mic and Reggie on guitar. Oh, and a little affect with guitar. It's pure RAW.
Desde Argentina... Me encantan tus reacciones y tengo que decirte algo... Sos el único que pronuncia bien el apellido de Antony... Jajajajajajaja un abrazo a la distancia!!😊
Heartbreaking song, but they are missing the anger! The original, had a beautiful melancholy....with a pi$$ed off edge! That took it the the BRINK of incredibly AWESOME ❤❤
Great reaction! Love your beatboxing!! Won't you do a tutorial one day? Also your remarks on details of the video are helpful for me. It's "gaar-djuu-laa" btw. Look for "golden hour"... didn't you do that as well? And "seven nation army"? But: you do so many reactions, I understand... 🎉😂❤
Such a fan of your reactions. I’m getting into a lot more of your own work and it’s amazing. Why haven’t I subscribed sooner 😅😂 you’re so handsome too 😫😊
Always love your reactions! Have you seen the cover by Postmodern Jukebox and Haley Reinhart... Also truly marvelous! Edit: I’m stupid and mixed up Hailee Steinfeld and Haley Reinhart
@@maddalenacherchi holy shit imma edit my comment. I feel so endlessly stupid. Only excuse is that I was talking about Hawkeye with a friend a couple of hours ago…
This is not my favorite music video of theirs, because I prefer their more theatrical videos. But I think this might be the best thing they've ever done. I'm blown away, no matter how many times I watch/listen to it.
I had to leave this comment because I just came across this interview I think you'd be interested in. It is by peter barber another reactor who is an opera singer and a bass singer. He interviews Jeff castellucci. Peter channel is a reaction and analysis Reaction. He goes very much in depth about singing technique. You might be interested in listening to his reaction to rob singing Nessun Dorma. Here's the link to the interview with Geoff ruclips.net/video/qZw_UZbIj-c/видео.html

It gives me chills every time I listen to it. Voiceplay knocked this out of the park.

It might be an effect, but I can just as easily see it as the white light from the mirror reflecting as he moves his head. That is what I had assumed.

beautiful reaction as always. i think, VP makes no covers, they make upgrades.
I’ve heard this song many times by many other artists, but this version seems to have the most impact on me.

Stellar.
