  • The treatment of aphasia with transcranial magnetic stimulation is addressed to patients with non-fluent aphasia, that is, aphasias with difficulty for verbal expression that maintain an acceptable ability to understand language. It is suitable for patients in an stable evolutionary phase, therefore, in the particular case of stroke, after the first 6 months since injury.
Aphasia is the loss of ability to produce or understand language, due to lesions in specific areas of the brain. In most people, areas specialized in language are located in the left hemisphere. Therefore, an injury in these areas can cause symptoms of aphasia.
Although in most cases the cause of the injury might have been a stroke, patients with aphasia of another etiology (cranial trauma, tumors ...) may also benefit from the program.
USED TECHNIQUES: Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) for the treatment of aphasia allows us to modulate the activity of the cerebral cortex painlessly and safely. Through this modulation and in conjunction with an intensive speech therapy intervention, we can contribute to the improvement of aphasia.

i read many papers and many of those conclude this treatment could induce seizure in post stroke patients, Is it really safe?
