Another thing I want to add to "why Luna is the most liked princess in the MLP Community" is she's also more relatable to several people. Why, y'all may ask? Well, one episode, in particular, speaks volumes about that. The one where we're introduced to the Tantabus, the very entity that she created to constantly punish herself of her past actions. It's that reason, alone(among others that I can't currently think off the top of my head, right now), why Luna's the most liked princess, and most loved pony, imo
“Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep?” is the episode that sold me on Princess Luna being a top tier character. She tortured herself for years in a state of remorse and depression out of guilt for her actions as Nightmare Moon. It’s one of the heaviest topics the show has ever covered, which is saying something considering it covered cults and childhood trauma in the same season.
I certainly loved Luna before watching 'Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep'. But after that, she became so much more relatable to me and cemented her place as my favourite MLP character.
Honestly I liked her from episode 2 back when she turned normal again from Nightmare Moon. At the time it was simply because she was blue. That was literally what I liked about her at first since we didn't really get to see her again at all until season 2 after that.
I also personally like the way they do Celestia and Luna’s hair in the comics. The flowing manes are cool, but I feel like they don’t give much room for actual style.
Luna looks dignified in guard armour. Her transformation is like growing up from a teenager into a young adult. 3:08 I absolutely love how Pinkie imitates the Royal Canterlot voice. 4:32 This particular comic story is like a precursor to "A Royal Problem" but without the cutie mark switch. 7:58 The ponies as skeletons could almost pass off as changelings. I also think that Luna could almost be a sister to Discord if they kept up their pairing together. I really hope we get to see Luna in MLP Generation 5 comics. Would be awesome to know what she's been up to for the last millennia.
That sort of explains twighlights name because i think twighlight might be a.. sky related thing (i forgot the word) or another word for stars or something and Celestia and Luna are both princesses of day and night but.. does that mean that Twighlights mum or dad are Celestia and Lunas sibling? But you said in law.. are they related to Cadence? That might explain why Cadence is an Alicorn. How did she become an alicorn actually? Because she looked to be one from a very young age, you see that in an episode where Twighlight is having flashbacks of when Cadence babysat her. Twighlight became an alicorn at an older age than Cadence and it seems it takes a long time for “students” to become alicorns. Sorry i rambled
IDW is canon. It has several moments where they reference events in the show for g4. It is an official collaboration. It does not go both ways. Nothing that happens in the comics is referenced in the show but damn they did a much better job keeping the continuity then MYM and TYT today.
There’s a Comic series that really shows her development that’s sadly not canon. It’s nightmare knights with five issues and it represents all of the characters but, Luna shines really well in these comics (this comic is one of the first ones I’ve ever read also I still to this day absolutely adore that comic series) I just wanted to talk about it :)
Sorry but nightmare knights is canon and was stated to be canon. Not just when advertising those comics but the comic staff have said so. Some people don't know this but it was stated by a Hasbro executive ages ago that IDW comics that don't majorly contradict the show are canon. Of course the writers got around this rule in the official season 10 comics.
Nightmare Knights and the Legends of Equestria comics treated my boy Stygian so good (+ Capper and Tempest!!!) while the actual show was like 'fuck that guy here's some episodes of the Mane 6 being garbage at teaching instead'
i never read the comics but it sounds like celestia gets way less spotlight than luna. wish they give her more love, plus i headcanon celestia still does the royal old english speech because it makes her sound cooler
Luna has been my favorite between her and Celestia, because she does so much more than Celestia. She is out to do her part, to not let others suffer for mistakes she made, she really is trying to help where she can, improve is she could, she is such a strong and hardworking Princess. Celestia is mostly about fun, tea, cake, smiles and some paper work, teaching but that seems more of a try in order to find someone who can replace her, when she retires after doing nothing. Luna does so much around, and all nights are probably filled with her trying to fix the mental health of ponies when they sleep. When she makes a mistake and a threat is around because of it, she makes it to be her problem only and tries to avoid having ponies interfere with her trying to fix it. Celestia, she would just cry for Twilight and let her deal with it. Luna is one of the best ponies and better than Celestia for sure
0:51 do I remember that design? DO I REMEMBER THAT DESIGN?! Is that even a question? I love that design. I honestly wish they had kept it. Don’t get me wrong, I love her normal design. But her first design distinguished her from Celestia more. I feel like they often tried to make her too much like Celestia in the series even though they’re supposed to be as different as day is from night
Luna is definitely my favorite character in the series, although nightmare moon is just not my thing tho. But the way she is pottsyed is actually suitable & very sustained!
0:16 because Twilight isn’t a princess princess. Jokes aside, I still do think she has the most growth growth in the series. I mean not everyone can claim they have five forms (season one, normal, Nightmare Moon, Nightmare Moon with glowing eyes and non-pointy teeth, and smoke😂). She’s my favorite character in the series.
So was like every interesting character in mlp except for the main six, starlight, and maybe the cmc. Just be thankful Luna actually got a personality. Cadence barely has one 😂
