About north east not being adequately represented in Hindi/Bollywood cinema is a genuine question but also a tricky one. As India has an insanely large population with lot’s of diverse cultures and languages, many in north India still don’t know much about the north east. People in the north didn’t know much even about south India. It’s only since the last decade that south has gained ridiculous attention in the north especially through movies which are Hindi dubbed. I think this decade is going to belong to the north east. They too are rising and are capturing minds across other regions.And I agree it’s high time north easterners are given space across all fields especially the entertainment industry as they are very good when it comes to music and also sports.
Only Danny denzogapa is in Bollywood from North East India.

I am an Indian from Uttarakhand and I have never been to northeast India however I do wana visit there once also I have few north eastern friends and honestly they are very sweet, kind and polite.

I had some friends (students) from Pakistan in the US. Most Pakistanis want to talk and know about India but they are uncomfortable to talk to mainland Indians, or afraid to ask. Nonetheless, when they come to know I am Indian from Manipur, they were surprised and became very open and free to talk to me about India and Pakistan. Mostly, the boys and girls in India, particularly in NE India, do mix and have friendly relationship quite openly amongst boys and girls, and they can go out together to movies, restaurants and markets and socialize. This is one aspect of India the Pakistanis (even in some parts of India) cannot do in Pakistan or even in the US. The Pakistani boys all love to watch Bollywood movies, and at home Indian TV for men in one room while the girls/ladies watch mostly the Pakistani TV in a separate room. That is what they think unfair for the girls and boys not allowed to mingle in public. This story is many years ago.
Yeah this happens in Pakistan and personally we don't like this but if some people have this kinda mentality we can't change them but the best thing we can do is we can change our mentality...

India's North-East has seven states often called The Land of Seven Sisters. These states are Assam, Manipur, Tripura, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram. Please look at the map of India. These states share borders with Bangladesh, Myanmar and China. These states are strategically very important as far as India's links with south-east Asia are concerned. At present, there are attempts to link the North-East of India directly with Thailand through the land route. This can give a major push to trade between India and South-East Asia. The people of North-East India are very peace-loving, and are known to be fiercely loyal. Insurgency had prevailed in many parts of North-East India, but today peace largely prevails all over. One cannot visit certain areas of North-East India without the Inner Line Permit. Most tribal areas are protected against land grabbing and demographic changes. The major religions in those areas are (in order of population): Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam and various tribal identities who have their own system of worship. Mizoram had a sprinkling of Jews as well, many of whom left India to live in Israel. The North-East people are very friendly, hard working and loyal to their traditions. Do read about Ahom Hindu kings, the Vaishnavites of Manipur, the Christians of heavenly Meghalaya and Mizoram and Buddhists of Arunachal. Amazing region and amazing people, indeed. Being part of northeast by birth....in North eastern part is like people are good and down to earth and not developed like Bangalore, Mumbai. Delhi and Kolkata but still they are very humble towards every caste system and so called rich society yes there will be difference but not discriminate by people of North East. Dowry system is free... specially in my family my great grandfather made a strict policy against dowry if you're a man then marriage will be there but if you marry someone then take all her responsibility. Only girl should come from there house rest things will buy as come your salary and status of the family. This policy followed by my uncle, dad and my aunt.
