Ryan,I made a bad mistake in getting off of my 2008 Street Glide and got on a 2017 Road Glide Special for a test ride. Needless to say I am a proud new owner of a Milwaukee 8. I absolutely love the RGS. It handles like a sport bike, The new motor is amazing, has lots of power, no vibration, and is super comfortable to ride. Harley hit a home run with the M8.
Mark, I hear what you are saying. There has been so many improvement in the frame/suspension/motor since 2008. Lurch said the same thing about my 2014 when he had his 2008 SG. Enjoy the new ride! I love your narration and comments!! There are some videos out there that say nothing at all. You are quite descriptive about everything that you notice between yours and this one. You do it in such a way that if I had my pocket bulging with enough, is head right down to the dealership and get one. I managed to sit on one at a recent motorcycle show and it fit me like a glove! That's amazing, and I only have 30" inseam. Im not the tallest guy around by any means. I want to thank you for doing this and a big thumbs up for the review!!
1) You are not the average biker; you are amongst the best on the road. Thanks for your service. 2) Vibration - I missed the way my old TC-96 felt on start-up and at idle. The M-8’s performance makes up for the lack of “character.” 3) I hated the clutch on my 2020 Softail Standard at first. After 2,000 miles I’m used to it. 4) LOL - it was 2019 before I realized H-D made a new engine - I need to pay more attention 5) My FXST feels like a fighter jet compared to my old Heritage.
Rode both the new 107ci and the '16 103ci. Personally, I chose the 103ci Road Glide Ultra. It just felt better to me. The 107ci was smoother, no doubt, but it was too smooth for my riding style. I'm not hating on the 107ci - I'm sure MANY people will love it! However, I'm sure I'll be happy with the staged up 103ci.
Maybe mine's the exception, but aside from a little vibration at idle, mine smooths right out as soon as I kick off. In fact, it's quite comparable to the Victory Cross Country I had before. Mine's an Ultra though, so there may be something else there.
I too own a '14 Street Glide and recently road tested a Crushed Ice White SG special during a my HD Dealer's Demo day. As soon as I got off it, I went for a ride on my SG and I can tell you that the new bike is light years ahead of the old bike. The torque of the new engine is amazing and they've reduced the vibration significantly to the point where I don't feel like my fillings are going be rattled loose. Some people like that vibration, but after riding the new bike, I can tell you that my 50+ year old body likes the new engine and suspension changes. Like you, I also noted that the clutch lever feel has changed. It does let our later and I felt that mechanical feedback through the lever every time I shifted, up or down. I initially told my Dealer rep that it was a possible "deal breaker" after first testing an Ultra, however after riding the new SG back to back with my '14, my mind has changed since there are some many upsides to the new '17 model. All in all, I want one. But then again, who doesn't want a new bike every few years?

I up graded from an 08 Street Glide and just love the M8. I got the blue one and it is gorges. I went from the gold metal flake white. The clutch seems a little stiff to me compared to my 08. Getting in neutral is no problem for me. Taking curves is seamless. No wobble in the curves anymore. Getting used to the friction zone at the end of the clutch was the hardest to get used to but after awhile it got easier. Engine temp is still to be determined because I haven't got to ride in hot weather yet. Gas milage is about 4 mpg better. First time with cruise control on a bike. It didn't take long to love it. Absolutely no buyers remorse on this purchase.

Been a Long time since I was on a Bike...35 years actually back in the day had some go fast Bikes V-Max CBX V65 and the Old Kaw widow maker 500,one Sportster and One Fatboy. Kids got grown and it was time......I went with the exact Bike you test rode. I got it the end of November and so far have right at 1K miles on it. Bikes have come so far I am amazed how much "better" they are now....at my age this will probably be my last bike.....I hope it out lives me. Thanks for the great review.....
Always depending on where you are coming from. I ride a 2014 Ultra limited and the main difference is smoothness and power. But is it what you want? Everybody knows that you can tune your Harley as long as you have a deep pocket. Keep in mind that H-D wants to attract new customers so they need to bring new stuff and at the same time having a good client retention. Great video Ryan your comments are always realistic and objective. I still like my TK....

Great vlog Ryan. Enjoyed it. I think HD is going to have to go towards the smoother and quieter aspect of biking primarily because their target demographic is aging. Younger and newer riders are not looking for the old school HD shakers and decibel crushers. I'm liking the new bikes...may consider the one you are testing here.

With my first Harley 17 107 RGS I am surprised with how that enhanced fork column bearing kept the steering so light and flickable. It exceeds the overall bike point and click skill based on weight. Love my first HD.

Rented one of these on the big island in Hawaii a few weeks ago. I put 500 miles on it over a couple days, first time I've ridden a bagger, also first time on a Harley and I Loved it. I set the cruise at one point and didn't touch the handlebars for like 5 miles, it's very stable, very "sporty" feeling for such a big bike, and the torque the M8 makes is very impressive. Planning on buying one in 2017 to start going on road trips with the wife. The only thing I didn't like was how smooth the click down into 1st is, it's so smooth it sometimes doesn't feel like it went in gear. Just something to get used to is all.
I just bought the '17 Road king, Very happy. Comfort, handling, braking and power are all an improvement. 0-40 mph is a little stiff, 40 and up, is the best road king ever, handles more like a sport bike . Wonderful ride. The bikes torque is 85-90% at 2,000 rpm. Hell of a bike. You will get used to the clutch, it works well.
Traded my 13 RK in on a 17 RGU, I love it. The greatest improvement was to the suspension, also the new transmission. The M8 is just icing on the cake. I also like not throwing my drink out at a red light.hahaha

Great overview of the bike. I am test riding one this weekend and now plan to look for many of the things you mentioned, 75% reduced vibration, quieter trans (don't think I will like that) and all the other stuff. Looks like you slimmed down man. Thanks again for the video.
I bought one two weeks ago .. I had only ridden yahama .. all I can say is wow !! I bought the 2017 ultra limited .. m8 ... holy cow .. it screams down the highway .. rides like a caddy !!
Is it better fuel consumption? I am coming from a 96” Ultra Classic. Irrespective of performance or torque, I would like to know what features of the 107” M8’s differ from the last of the twin cam ultra limited model. Such as sound system, road damping, brakes, electronics or comfort. Thanks.
Roger that Darin and thanks for watching. My 2014 has the same hydraulic clutch and it's not quite as far out. As we all know, hydraulic clutches don't adjust. They are what they are.

I've just had a Road Glide 107 for 8 days I own a 2008 Heritage and I really liked the new motor it had more than enough power for my needs. I found the clutch really heavy compared to my bike. I would defiantly buy a street glide. I was not keen on the shark fairing on the Road glide. but for a big bike it handle really well I took it round the tail of the dragon it was wet but bike handle it no worries.
Test rode a 2017 Limited and fell in love. The bad new for some of us, it would appear that thiis new engine has virtually destroyed the residual value on the newer bikes on trade in. My 2015 Ultra Classic listed at 24,049 and best trade value was 17,000 . Thats about 30% depreciation on a bike I have had 8 months with 5K miles on it. Guess I will keep it!

Thanks for posting this. I have a new 2017 SGS with about 300 miles on it and I like to hear different perspectives from other riders. You mentioned about how Harley's have sort of a "clunky" tranny. I'm glad you mentioned that because I was beginning to think there may be a problem with my tranny as it is really loud sometimes. I do notice though that if I shift more deliberately and smoothly with the clutch the "clunk" dissipates quite a bit. Sounds like it may be more related to my inefficiency as a rider on this still unfamiliar (to me) bike. By the way, I'm enjoying the hell out this bike. lol Can't wait to do some touring this Spring and Summer.
Yes, they are clunky and that is normal. You can reduce the noise by shifting smoother. I would not put in on your inefficiency as a rider. It's just how they sound. You can always drown it out with louder pipes! Ride safe & Ride Often! There's plenty good used 103s which is plenty enough to get you down the road. I'm thinking of going back to the 103 myself when I'm in the market. Too many good deals because some people want the newest thing
Great Video, I will be doing a test ride on one tomorrow, do you think the clutch could be adjusted to engage sooner with an adjustment at the clutch inside the primary ?
I run the same exact hydraulic clutch on my 2014 Street Glide Special. I hate to break the bad news, but there is no adjustment for hydraulic clutches internally or externally. love y'alls videos ,I rode a 114,cu,2017 not bad I ride a 2015 flhx stage 2 , 86hp. 111tq, it's loud and aggressive, when I rode the 2017 I kept thinking I was on a Honda ps I use to be a Honda rider maybe with a stage 1 or 2 it would feel more harley like
My 2017 Street Glide Special Clutch grabs right away ?? Love the bike, love Harleys. Traded my 2016 Road Glide Ultra. This bike is easy on my rusty knees. When I bought my 16, I thought that motor was the answer. This bike is awesome .
My 2015 Harley-Davidson FLHP Road King Police is an exceptional motorcycle! With the Police sprung solo saddle that is a 3rd. suspension component I am feeling less road bumps than my friend on his Honda Gold Wing. We were on a Tennessee back road, a old , poorly maintained back roads near where we live and he kept dropping back. I had the impression he thought I was some kind of speed racer. So eventually I asked him about that and hr replied that even though he also has air suspension shocks the ride was just too bumpy to even do the 35 mph speed limit. I said, yes I noticed that my front suspension was taking some pretty hard hit's but I did not feel them. I said I actually felt sorry for my bike taking all those hits from the terrible road surface. But hey, Harley's are built to last so I did not think my bike would suffer from it. Then about a week ago I was on another back road exploring and I ended up on the road to the "over the mountain" pass. This became a severely rutted hard packed dirt path with major sand and gravel and several very long and pretty deep rain water ruts. I'm 66 years old and I have been injured several times and I'm not a strong man. But, I trust my Harley-Davidson and I rode up and over the ridge and back down and I never even touched a toe down onto the ground. That and I'm on a Touring Motorcycle. No other large or touring motorcycle could have made that pass. My bike remind me of the legends of Harley's being desert sleds. She glided, and yes some jouncing but never became unmanageable in the steering even though I'm about as strong as a 12 year old. I made the mountain dirt road pass. So there you have it. Harley-Davidson's are good for touring across America, good for exploring your own stomping grounds and good for getting you anywhere you want to go. Look, I still have my purchased new 1976 Triumph T140V Bonneville 750 and she beat every bike on the road for over 10 consecutive years, not a single loss on our side. Because of that I am really a Loyal Triumph man. However I purchased a new 1994 Harley-Davidson 883 Sportster Deluxe and she never broke down, never and I still have both of these machines. I wanted a Police Motorcycle since 1956 (age 6) while living in Long Island. Then in 1956 out in Arizona my uncles friend took me fore a ride at a local airport. I sat on the tank and watched that huge speedometer go from "0" to 100 mph and back down again, then we turned around on the runway and made the return pass. Yep "0" to 100 mph and back down again. So I am a Loyal Harley-Davidson Man for life. These machines are the top quality motorcycles on the entire planet. Yes many young men knock them but since I am a two time owner with no problems ever I know the truth. My new FLHP can almost throw you off her if you open the throttle wide open at 65 mph I'd say that's enough, or more than enough power. I always use one finger breaking and have complete control and trust in my Harley-Davidson breaking. I like that at parking lot speeds of about 10 mph and slower, even though my Harley has ABS and a Linked Breaking system the rear break can be used without engaging the front breaks and this is for better slow speed control. It acts like a drag anchor to trim the bike at those slow wobbling speeds. No other motorcycle has this feature. It comes in hand when making U-turns on back roads or when in loose sand or gravel because it provides better control. I like my 2015 FLHP so much I doubt that I would trade her in for a new Harley-Davidson. She's everything I have ever wanted and more. Yes she handles like a sport bike, the only realization to keep in mind is she is 840 ponds wet weight and because the street is full of "two way traffic and people backing into your lane from their driveways " that 840 pounds needs to be kept in mind when you go corner carving. Otherwise she handles like a Bonneville, just twice as heavy so road racing would not be to bright. But other than that she's the perfect motorcycle that gets 45 mpg and will last long enough for me to be too old to ride, not that I can even envision that.
have you ridden one of the 2018 fatbob's yet? really enjoyed this review & hope you get a chance to do one of the 2018 FatBob... I can't make up my mind which way I want to go. The only downside to the fatbob that worries me is not having any protection that you'd get from the street glide fairing. Around town and on back roads it would be fine, but being out on the highway & interstate worries me w/ nothing to help push air/bugs/rocks/ up and over you at high speeds. Thoughts?
Thanks for the intelligent review. Although I do not ride Harley Davidson Motorcycles, I appreciate the marque, and applaud Harley Davidson for the improvements found in this new model.

I'm 5'6 and it's hard for me to plant my feet on the ground on this bike. What would you recommend for someone like me who is looking to move from the sport bike world to the cruiser world? I sat on a new street glide at the dealership and fell in love with it. I hope to get one soon. How does the power feel compared to being on a sport bike? I own a 2013 gsx-r 750 but I've rode a hayabusa a couple times.
They make a lowering kit for these. That might be the option for you. Also I think they make some "LOW" models as well. Talk to your dealer and see what options they offer. Thanks for watching. Rick from LAB
The Harley dealer suggested that it might ruin my paint by changing it to a gloss finish or causing the paint to rub off where my legs touch the tank. I'm a believer in BugSlide. But I don't want to ruin the denim.
That's information dealerships tell you to get you to buy the bottle with HD logo on it....many of them have no clue anyways. Trust me, Bugslide works on denim paint. It won't shine it over time.
They got me... Damn it. I bought a bottle of their Denim Paint Cleaner for $8.95. Shame to see it go to waist. But it will. Back to Bugslide! The best cleaner I've used to date. Thank Ryan!

I test drove a 2017 Road Glide Ultra last week at Laconia H-D and really enjoyed it. Never got it on highway though and don't think I got it past fifth gear. Definitely less vibration at idle. Felt the better torque, but the stock pipes could of used an upgrade. Not ready to give up my 2010 R.G., but maybe someday. Thanks for the video review!

Nice video Ryan! Rode these on the preview week before the open house and overall thought these are a nice evolutionary step from the 2016 model year. Engine seems to breathe better and rev quicker, although I'm not convinced it's more potent on the top end. I guess a dyno shootout is needed to confirm. :) I had the same experience with the clutch, where it felt to take up right at the very end. Looking forward to future updates and will keep watching.
I read a couple of people reporting about the clutch engaging near the end of the lever travel, but that wasn't my experience, nor was the transmission clunky.

Is this a ride you can keep stock? I personally don't know anyone who gets an HD and doesn't at the very least do a stage 1 but most usually end up changing the full exhaust which you need even deeper pockets after the initial purchase. Don't get me wrong; I love the way HD looks and sounds but for the same price you can get two good metric bikes. I used to own a 1996 FLSTC in states blue pearl which I think was one of the best factory colors HD had. I probably dropped approximately an additional $10K in mods and chrome on the 3 years I've owned it. I enjoyed every mile on it but in all honesty it would probably cost me close to $40k (Canadian dollars) to get one the way I would like it. That would be a tough sell to get the Mrs. to sign off on that 😉
Ryan, thinking of trading in my 2016 victory vision for a 2017 electra glide ultra limited....im looking at RUclips videos about the M8 and the trouble ppl are having...what is your take on the M8? I don't want to inherit any problems...
I have a 2008 Heritage Soft tail and perhaps I am a hardass but the ride is perfect and I don't notice vibration. It really is a perfect machine and I am grateful to own a HD.
John W. Peterson if you think your Harley is a perfect machine you either found the one bike that fits you or you haven't ridden anything modern lately.
Accurate and very complete review. Bought a 2017 Limited and agree with comments in this video except that my tranny does clunk loudly on shift change like the 103 Street Bob I traded in. This is my first bike with ABS and linked brakes so not sure if this is the same on previous bikes, but if you engine brake, the system can make the rear brake almost impossible to depress. Says this right in the owners book - my ONLY gripe with the bike. Otherwise a real pleasure to ride.
I'm on a 2014 Limited. If you haven't already, try pre-loading the shifter. That is, when lifting up or down(heel shift) put a little bit of tension on the lever before pulling the clutch. I find it does make a differenc

Stopped in about month ago to pick up a few things for my 2015 Ultra Limited at my local Harley dealer. I casually mentioned to the parts guy I'd like to ride one of the new 2017's sometime. Parts guy yelled to the owner that I'd like to ride one. Owner says which one, so I took a new 2017 ultra limited in denim charcoal & black out for a spin. In 8 miles and 15 minutes later I was trading my 15 for the 17. New bike will get yah.

That's in the eye of the beholder. Some like HD, some like Indian. Some like Victory......I ride with friends that have them. it really has to do with what kind of feel and style you're looking for. There is a reason though that the HD Street Glide is the best selling bike in the US for a ton of years and still is.
well, since you ask...Style, by definition, is not objective but subjective. It can (and is) easily graded and measured by those who want to appeal to subjects. Simply put 5 pictures infront of the people you want to sell to, and ask the subject, which they prefer. If there was one style that everyone agreed was the best (and that was the only thing that mattered) then no other motorcycles would be made. I do care about technology - and motorcycle company investments in technology recognise that they know that consumers care. Like you say in the video "Harley is upping it's game because they have to...can't be old technology". The ultimate purchase decision will be a combination of loads of things, and is the best reflection how that individual puts importance on his own issues. Harley's huge advantage over it's competition is that it's... a Harley. It's just my guess, but for many, the starting point is "I want to own a Harley, which one should I buy?". I still have my 30 year old 883 sportster from when I was 19 years old. It doesn't have modern "technology" (like a gas gauge, or ABS) but that isn't important. It's my Harley.
@rich I That was my point rich style can not be graded using any objective scale. "It can (and is) easily graded and measured by those who want to appeal to subjects." Style is subjective and can't be graded objectively. The two are mutually exclusive. Your 30 year old sportster has the same engine as sportsters built today, with the exception of fuel injection, but anyone can add that on to any pre-2007 sportster just as easily as Harley.
Thanks for watching Dr. Jamie!! Appreciate the feedback. I shoot on a multitude of vide and audio equipment dependent on the project of course. I test rode the 2017 street glide and the road glide, I felt the same exact thing through the clutch lever on both bikes while shifting. It was hard to explain because being hydraulic it must kick back through the fluid line somehow. My 2014 limited has no feedback through it. Other than that sensation I thought the 2017's had good power for a stock motor, very smooth. The street glide had some brand of slip-on mufflers that made it sound great. Not about to trade my Limited in yet though. LOL
I have already ridden one , and real sorry to say but I miss the vibration and the sound and for the price Harley should have put the chrome side guards to protect the bags. I have a limited CVO 2015 and don't need 8 valves , My 110 CVO 2015 is now worth even more .
I agree, I have always loved these bikes because I can feel the pistons firing below me...this sends the adrenaline spike right threw you.....if I wanted to ride a bike that I didn't know was running, would have done so years ago..because there is many options for this.............Honda
I'll wait a couple of years Before consider buying one. My 08 runs as fast as the 17 when he mention 60 at 2800 r p m. I'll just keep my 08. For now. Great review.

found a 15 sgs for 19k at 2300 miles, or a new 2017 sgs is 25k. new bike worth the extra 6k? haven't had a chance to ride the new bikes yet and I'm up in the air. any input would be great.
Well we all have the 103 HO.....with that said the new 107 is really nice and a nice upgrade. Really up to you on how much you want to spend. WIth the new bike you get the 2 year warranty so that is good. With a negotiated price on an extended warranty you might be ok wiht the 103 HO.
I've heard if you put on an aftermarket pipes and tuner that is not EPA compliant. It will void your warranty. I've also heard they're having problems with the oil pumps in these Milwaukee 8's Does anyone know these are internet rumors or true.
There are rumors of such and nobody really has the answer. It raises many questions, such as are the dealerships actually going to check for catalytic converters etc. And, many don't buy warranties anyways. And it will likely vary around the country. We're following these developments and compiling info for everyone. Make sure you tune into the weekly Law Abiding Biker Podcast as we will be discussing this at some point and what our findings are.
My experience is limited, the first&one bike I own and ride is my RK Classic ‘07. I begin to ride in 2008 at 54 yold, now 67 y old and 209.000 km. From Spain best regards!!!
It's a big improvement but still a long ways to go. Still has a pressed together crank, chain drive primary and probably other Edsel technology in it. If they were going to modernize and offer a new engine then why go half way when the R & D costs so much anyway? Meh! It's a big positive step but still falls way short of other options.

excellent review, THANK YOU.. was looking at a 2016 FLHXS for $22k out the door and then they offered me a 2017 FLHX for $21600 OTD.. dont really need the extra bells and whistles but then im leary of a first year engine " rock and a hard place scenario "
Thank you. You really can'd go wrong with the 2016 or the 2017 and a warranty just to be safe. Let us know what you decide to go with and why. Ride Safe & Ride Often!
Was disappointed to see small incremental changes on some dyno runs vs. the 103. If I were in the market I believe the 103 would be at the top of my list.

Yah, many are. Most relate Washington State to rainy dark "Seattle". Come across the Cascade Mountain Range to Eastern Washington and you get hardly any rain or darkness. Sunny and beautiful. Exactly why I don't live in Seattle. Beautiful dry riding around these parts!!
Damn the motor company! My wife bought me a 2016 Road Glide ultra. I'm not a rich man. But I test road a Milwaukee Eight. Picking up my 2017 Road Glide Ultra Saturday morning. Harley keeping poor people poor one bike at a time.
Michael McKee why?!?! Don't get mad at Harley Davidson when you don't have any sense. Unless you really like giving Harley your money for slightly better motorcycles.

Enjoy the new ride!

got the 19 RGS....IN LOVE
They certainly did
I still ride my shovel and love every minute of it. I only got about 10-15 more years of riding ahead of me so i'll just keep on keepin on
I love your narration and comments!!
The M-8’s performance makes up for the lack of “character.”
3) I hated the clutch on my 2020 Softail Standard at first. After 2,000 miles I’m used to it.
4) LOL - it was 2019 before I realized H-D made a new engine - I need to pay more attention
5) My FXST feels like a fighter jet compared to my old Heritage.
Absolutely. The 103 ci is an awesome motor. Love my 2014 SGS. Thanks for watching and commenting.
yeah i kinda like my 80 mph foot massage
Maybe mine's the exception, but aside from a little vibration at idle, mine smooths right out as soon as I kick off. In fact, it's quite comparable to the Victory Cross Country I had before. Mine's an Ultra though, so there may be something else there.
Dave Owens hell, I still have my 05 88inch fatboy.
Great info. Thank you for sharing. That's what people want to hear.

Great info Johnny. Thank you for sharing. You'll adjust to the new clutch set up.

Awesome! Thanks for the feedback. Puts a smile on my face. Always a pleasure knowing the vids and time spent is appreciated by bikers out there like you.

Wowowo Rider "smoothness and power. But is it what you want?" Is that a serious question? Has anyone said "this is too smooth for me and that power, man, I could use less of it"

Great points Bob. Thanks for sharing.

Rock on and love hearing other rider's opinions! thanks
I bought a 2018 road king because of ur video, could'nt be happier thx bra.
Rock on!!
Thanks for the comment. If you need any phone mounts, cleaner, or Vance and Hines products please consider us. www.lawabidingbiker.com/store
Traded my 13 RK in on a 17 RGU, I love it. The greatest improvement was to the suspension, also the new transmission. The M8 is just icing on the cake. I also like not throwing my drink out at a red light.hahaha
Awesome John!! Enjoy the heck out of your Road Glide Special Awesome bike!!

Great overview of the bike. I am test riding one this weekend and now plan to look for many of the things you mentioned, 75% reduced vibration, quieter trans (don't think I will like that) and all the other stuff. Looks like you slimmed down man. Thanks again for the video.
Have a great test ride. You'll be hooked Kevin! Thanks for commenting and yes, I slimmed down. It was time...LOL
I bought one two weeks ago .. I had only ridden yahama .. all I can say is wow !! I bought the 2017 ultra limited .. m8 ... holy cow .. it screams down the highway .. rides like a caddy !!
Awesome. Enjoy the hick out of it
Dam right it's worth it! But now 114s are common. At least get the stage two and the torque cam.
They don't get too hot either with the eims system...
Thanks.
Test rode the 107 in a street glide and the 114 CEO ultra and loved it! But I do agree that I'm not a fan of the clutch engaging at the last minute.
Roger that Darin and thanks for watching. My 2014 has the same hydraulic clutch and it's not quite as far out. As we all know, hydraulic clutches don't adjust. They are what they are.
Love your videos Ryan! Keep em coming.

That sucks! Guess we'll keep ours as well.

Q: Would you take out the dampers out of the exhaust pipes from a 2015 softail slim?
I assume you talking about baffles? I would recommend switching to an aftermarket exhaust. We are fans of Vance and Hines around here.

Waiting to get a 2022 Electra glide end of year from Apple state👍🏻
There's plenty good used 103s which is plenty enough to get you down the road.
They are what they are brother. Enjoy your test ride.

love y'alls videos ,I rode a 114,cu,2017 not bad I ride a 2015 flhx stage 2 , 86hp. 111tq, it's loud and aggressive, when I rode the 2017 I kept thinking I was on a Honda ps I use to be a Honda rider maybe with a stage 1 or 2 it would feel more harley like
Really gorgeous scenery and I also like the 107. Miss the shake at idle but it’s a move in the right direction for Harley. Thanks for sharing.
I test one today, real sweet. I'm riding a 2013 Street Bob 103' I think the Street Glide might take it on the twisty roads.
Really? On the twisties? On one of these elephants? Give me a break. Nice bike for open road-highway but sucks ass on twisties
I want to know how this new engine pans out!.
Stayed tuned! We'll let the community know. Ride safe & Ride Often!
It’s been 4 years.... what do we say now?
Why they make them so quiet even with an aftermarket exhaust.
My 2017 Street Glide Special Clutch grabs right away ?? Love the bike, love Harleys. Traded my 2016 Road Glide Ultra. This bike is easy on my rusty knees. When I bought my 16, I thought that motor was the answer. This bike is awesome .
Awesome Paul. Enjoy the heck out of that new bike!!
Glad you liked the video and thanks for commenting.
PeterDad60 TL;DR
Is it possible you can still put on exhaust upgrades for a bit louder sound? I figured it'd change with completely redesigned exhaust and engine...
Yes Jason, it will just take some time for companies to produce aftermarket exhaust for the 2017.....
have you ridden one of the 2018 fatbob's yet? really enjoyed this review & hope you get a chance to do one of the 2018 FatBob...
Thoughts?
I tried out the new Road Glide last weekend. I loved it...thinking of selling my current Harleys to get one.
Ooooooooh boy, that's exciting for sure John. I'll make the decison for you.....GO GET IT...lOL......
Thanks for the intelligent review. Although I do not ride

and applaud Harley Davidson for the improvements found
in this new model.

Jim Sharp a pat on the back for being decades behind.
Is Bugslide a good cleaner to use on my 2017 Gray Denim SGS?
Yes, bugslide is safe on denim paint. I used it all the time on my denim black 2011 Street Glide.
Thank Ryan!
From poulsbo wa. So far I can only afford a 1200 sporty, hope they make a m8 variant for the sporty! Great review buddy
Thanks Nathan. Glad to see a comment from a fellow Washingtonian.

Thanks for review man! Appreciated the shout out to Belgium as well!
Absolutely!! Super stoked you enjoyed the review video.

115 year's harley Davidson been making motorcycles must be doing something right. but ride what you want free country for now
Nice video Ryan!
Awesome and thanks for watching. Appreciate your comments.
I read a couple of people reporting about the clutch engaging near the end of the lever travel, but that wasn't my experience, nor was the transmission clunky.
That's what I found during my test ride I did. I go over that and how quiet the bike shifts: ruclips.net/video/i1IUUaPA-fA/видео.html

Great info and thanks for weighing in on the conversation. Enjoy that bike!!!!
I'm on a 2014 Limited. If you haven't already, try pre-loading the shifter. That is, when lifting up or down(heel shift) put a little bit of tension on the lever before pulling the clutch. I find it does make a differenc

for a long time. But electric start is nice, bikes today are to heavy. lotta gagets.
I hear you. That's a hell of a bike to have. Good for you!
Are there any major difference between SGS and SG aside from bigger screen and ABS being standard on the special?
Nope, that's about it. Bigger and touchscreen Boom Box....ABS and reflex braking system, which is very cool

That's awesome. Enjoy the heck out of that bike

Great review, but does it really beat an Indian - in style or technology?
That's in the eye of the beholder. Some like HD, some like Indian. Some like Victory......I ride with friends that have them. it really has to do with what kind of feel and style you're looking for. There is a reason though that the HD Street Glide is the best selling bike in the US for a ton of years and still is.
rich l how does one objectively grade style and if you cared about technology you wouldn't be comparing American motorcycles.
well, since you ask...Style, by definition, is not objective but subjective.
Your 30 year old sportster has the same engine as sportsters built today, with the exception of fuel injection, but anyone can add that on to any pre-2007 sportster just as easily as Harley.
what did you u shoot this video with. Its awesome man? thanks for the review

Not sure brother where I said I didn't like it. It's a great bike. I think anyone would be happy with it.

Robert Rosson or you could get a modern motorcycle for the same money and you'd get more of everything, but weight.
LOL
Yah John. My 2014 Street Glide Special has a hydraulic clutch and it doesn't feel like that. That's why it felt so weird riding it.
I feel Harley took a step backwards this time , and many think the same , so keep what you have.
It will be interesting to see how the new changes are accepted.
lol
I'll wait a couple of years Before consider buying one. My 08 runs as fast as the 17 when he mention 60 at 2800 r p m. I'll just keep my 08. For now. Great review.
Good points Johnny. Glad you liked the review.

Good video,brother..Keep posting..
Thank you!
SO, bottom line your 14, or the M8??? Worth trading up for a loss????
I'm sticking with my 2014 for now......looving it
I kind of think a trade to M8 would be a trade back to an EVO. LOL
If I was to test ride one, I'm afraid I'd no longer be law abiding because I don't think I'd be able to return the bike, what scenery!!
We hear that!
found a 15 sgs for 19k at 2300 miles, or a new 2017 sgs is 25k. new bike worth the extra 6k? haven't had a chance to ride the new bikes yet and I'm up in the air. any input would be great.
Well we all have the 103 HO.....with that said the new 107 is really nice and a nice upgrade. Really up to you on how much you want to spend. WIth the new bike you get the 2 year warranty so that is good. With a negotiated price on an extended warranty you might be ok wiht the 103 HO.
thanks for the reply, just weighing options and trying to justify the extra 6k.
I have the 103 2015,rgs and this 2017 just didn't give me the wow factor so I'm waiting for the end of the summer for the 2018
I've heard if you put on an aftermarket pipes and tuner that is not EPA compliant.
Thorson Runes it's easy to find the answers you check HD for recall information.
Thanks for sharing you input with the Law Abiding Biker Community.

excellent review, THANK YOU.. was looking at a 2016 FLHXS for $22k out the door and then they offered me
a 2017 FLHX for $21600 OTD.. dont really need the extra bells and whistles but then im leary of a first year engine
" rock and a hard place scenario "
Thank you. You really can'd go wrong with the 2016 or the 2017 and a warranty just to be safe. Let us know what you decide to go with and why. Ride Safe & Ride Often!
i have a 92 softail love my bike evo is the best motor they ever came out with hands down! will never let go of her! ride like you stole it!!!
Rock on Jordan
Does the new engine really thrown off less heat?
Yes sir. We have several of these in our Police Motor line-up and older ones too. They throw less heat.
Was disappointed to see small incremental changes on some dyno runs vs. the 103. If I were in the market I believe the 103 would be at the top of my list.
It does sound smooth, if not a little too quiet for my taste. Only wish you could've throttled into it more. Good vid!
It is smooth, and you can always make it louder with different exhaust. I would have loved to throttle it more a well.

On a side note. I'm surprised to see how much desert you guys have up there in Washington.
Unless you really like giving Harley your money for slightly better motorcycles.
im finally considerings buying a harley i currently have a 2001 yamaha roadstar 1600 and this new engine harley has is actually the same design my roadstar has and it has proven to be such a great engine im lookin at getting a new roadglide my roadstar has 175k miles in it hopefully when i pick up the wide glide it last just as long with as little of issues
Let us know if you get one and what you think of it. We're always looking for feedback from the community.
