As a consumer yourself as well as a major youtube mtg-influencer, I think it's interesting and important for you to guess the prices. Your prices were far closer to the pre-release prices, but now that you saw the dirt cheap prices, It'd be interesting to hear your thoughts in a video about how cheap some of these reprints and cards are. Did it initially shock you to find out a lot of cards that you thought were 2/5/10 dollars were only 20-40 cents? Are you excited that these once expensive cards are now 40 cents to a dollar and are now more accessible for players to now build decks with that pesky price attached? Are you disappointed because you got all of these once-coveted and highly valued cards in a 25-30 dollar pack but now reprints make it that you're not basically buying potentially 1-2 dollars worth of random singles? Do you think that would be unsustainable if everyone's spending 30 dollars on packs and can't even get a dollar out of it trying to resell on sites and it will drive up the prices again or else no one will buy them? (The price reflection of supply and demand of Magic cards kind of baffles me personally)
Most of the cards which matter are extremely beautiful, unfortunately a lot of cards look really bad especially when printed in USA. Some of the commons and intentional chaff have extremely bad art (proportions, faces, backgrounds). I haven't enjoyed opening a box this much since Kamigawa.
Every day I drive almost 2 hrs to work each way. I sit on a job site (construction inspector) for 8-10 hrs and listen to machinery all day long. It’s not the job I ever imagined or wanted. But I do it because it’s the best way to support my family available to me. At the end of the day I sit in traffic and listen to your videos on my car radio. Because for a few minutes each day it lets me day dream about a GAME I’ve loved since middle school. I’m almost 40 now. I love the old goofball that drops his papers. Every time you put a video out…it makes my day a little more bearable. These videos are about FUN. Anybody who’s being a jerk to you…is missing the dang point. Thanks Professor.
Prof, you come off as a genuine, grounded and humble person who consistently picks kindness and is about something bigger than himself. It's so refreshing, endearing and ultimately inspiring. The little voice in your head means you have a conscience and a soul, just don't let that little voice drown out all your angels. You're doing great.
Oh my god, what a beautiful way to describe such a beautiful person! By the way, I’m sure that you, the one who wrote that, are a beautiful person as well.
Me and my friend like to gamble. We luckily pulled the anime Smother Tithes, two agatha's cauldrons, two rhystic studies and managed to sell the $250 worth of cards we pulled. Got store credit to roll into gambling on the Jurrasic World set when it comes out because we could not care about Dr. Who
@@jordongee2347 Im not interested in the resale value. Maybe that's something I will get lucky with in the future. For me It started because i just really like the art work on alot of these card games. I have a picture frame in a room with all my favorite art work cards and it looks absolutely insane to me. I get compliments from guest all the time as well who knows absolutely nothing about cards. Also it is really fun to cut open a pack and see what kind of goodies you might of got. Like mystery present to yourself every once in a while lol
Prof, for what it's worth. You are the most genuine and loveable MTG content creator I've ever seen. The fact you say what is on your mind without thought of what others think makes me love you.
I love the optimism while opening these packs. It's as though Prof was saying "I know these are way overprices but surely these cards are worth something"
Its genuinely funny, and maybe its on purpose, that he is always like "Yea im gonna call this 40 dollar card a buck 50" but then in the opening its always like "I could pay off my mortgage with this" but its a 2 cent foil rare
Dear Prof - New student here. Just wanted to say that I love these videos, even if your guesses aren't consistent or accurate! If anything, it reminds me how subjective value can be, especially in magic. I, like you, get drawn in by the art and theming of cards/decks. WoE is the first non-crossover set I've bought, and totally agree with your thoughts on this set.
I appreciate these videos because you don't always know the prices. As a fellow casual player being surrounded by content or people who seemingly know it all gets depressing. I don't want to always feel like I'm behind. Knowing that someone like you also isn't always fully versed in every new card or set makes me feel like I still belong in Magic. So thank you for these videos
It's legitimately uplifting when you go "this cards alright. it's gotta be a couple dollars." even when the card is significantly less. It's... nice to see someone who literally sees value in the cards.
Prof, I love that you can make fun of yourself a little, and just lean in and enjoy. It makes you truely an S-class content creator. Thank you for all you do.
35:06 "I get things wrong in Magic; I'm not actually a very good Magic player" One video of yours is enough to tell how much you genuinely love MTG. I watch you because you're a total nerd about it. Don't ever change!
Honestly I love when TCC uploads. I get so excited when Shuffle Up & Play gets uploaded. The last one was uploaded the same day my uncle passed and while I was still upset, it was a wonderful distraction for a while and I can’t thank my favourite content creators enough that day.
I loved WOE so much, one or my favourute sets since Strixhaven, the Enchanting Tales remind me of the Mystical Archive cards there. I just came back to this video as I've been looking through how many of the Enchanting Tales cards I want for my decks, and I was tempted to buy a collector box, but I could just hear "Buy singles!" ringing through my head! This video was fun to watch, but has helped convince me not to try it myself, as fun as it might be.
I love the enthusiasm for every cool rare/mythics. Even if the prices are off, there's so much love that goes into the game through these videos. Keep it up!
I absolutely love these booster box openings. I have been watching your content for about two years now and this is right up there with shuffle up and play as my favorite videos. In a day and age where buying singles is the only way to build decks and there could be 90% of a set that most people never even know existed, its very refreshing to be taken back to a time when me and my friends would crack packs and drool over all these “awesome” cards that monetarily were a bunch of junk but they did what the game was supposed to do. They made you happy when you played with them.
Prof, I think you’re doing great and I love these guess the price videos. For a beginner like me it gives me a chance to see the different cards that are available in new or reprint sets, so I know what I could be getting into. So thank you for all of that
I really like these videos because they help see value in sets and it let's me see all the cards that I don't have time to individually look up. I think the price guesses are fine because I wouldn't be able to do any better. I appreciate what you do for the MTG community Prof!
I truly like when you are talking with your open heart, professor. You are yourself and should never be ashamed of that. You are honest, sincere and shows that you are truly in touch with your public. Keep up being yourself and don't let the bad comments ever get to you!
Never stop making the content that YOU derive the most enjoyment from Prof! YOU are who we want to hear from since YOU are the honest voice of reason and enjoyment of this hobby we all love! Great vid! Crazy how these reprints are so crazy low value but high playability!
Please don’t ever worry about whether or not your guessing correctly. I like these openings because it’s chill and like we’re just listening to a fireside chat. If I really need to know the price of a card I’ll look it up. It’s cool to see you having fun and enjoying the game that we all love! I also liked the set. Throne of Eldraine is the set that was out when I came back to Magic and I really enjoyed it. God bless!
Prof is my favorite. I like that he is real enough to talk about his thoughts on how comments make him feel. And as far as him not knowing all the prices and stuff I find it cool makes him more relatable.
We tune into this to watch the pain of you opening these so we don't have the nerve to buy them ourselves!! I have appreciated this for well over 3 years now. Thank you!🥰
Honestly, it’s a blast just watching your videos. It’s like hanging out with a friend. We don’t care if you right or wrong, we are just happy to watch.
I love listening to you talk about your experiences or explaining a card, doesn't bother me how long you go...also I love the Eldraine set because of the enchanted tales and the anime cards, which I've only makanfed to pull 2...did get one Rhystic Study and double seasoning first time for them...and a beseech the mirror I'm making a merfolk deck with your inspiration! ❤
Prof, your videos got me into Magic . Your videos even inspired me to start setting up my channel to talk about my love for TCGs. Keep up the fantastic work. 😊
Don't feel self-conscious, Prof. These kinds of videos are fun because we know that you are likely not going to get the cards right. But I think that is the fun of it. Keep doing these videos because I feel we get the real goofy Prof. we all know and love.
We watch your channel as a family in my house. My youngest, who is ten will let us know there is a new professor video to watch. I think your kindness and genuine nature and of course corny humor is what draws every body in. If people are going to hate on that, than they will hate on anything.
Prof, I don't even play Magic but I love your content. I'm a tcg player who's familiar with it through friends and cultural osmosis and your channel is the only MTG channel I watch, all because of your personality! Really enjoy your videos, especially things like the booster box game and shuffle up and play! Always glad to see your work pop up in my feed.
No matter what, your love for fun games that bring people together always shines through. If anything the fact that you price some cards high is a testament to how much you value the art and the product as a whole. Keep bringing us your unfiltered reactions to the games we love!
Prof I'm fairly new to Magic and i love watching your shuffle up and play videos, and I very much enjoy these booster box game videos where it isn't sped up where we can hear your thoughts and guesses on the prices like im sitting there opening packs with a friend. and i try and play along too guessing card prices just to see you guess a card is 12 bucks when its only .64 cents haha, these down to earth no script videos are awesome and really show your character.i really appreciate these and always look forward to watching your vids whenever i can :)
Hey prof just wanted to say you do amazing with these videos and make it more entertaining than any bland know-it-all. You give this channel life and happiness and just generally made a wonderful channel and community surrounding.
I really like this much more than the regular booster box game. I’m just one of the very few that usually doesn’t watch all the way through booster box game videos but hearing you talk about the cards makes the video so much more interesting. Even if you don’t guess prices, it’s just nice to hear what you think of the cards
Prof, your videos just make me happy. In my opinion, you're the embodiment of what a magic the gathering player should be like. Thank you for all that you do
This was great Prof. For me I like this video style cause it not only is honest, i think its emblematic of the problem of collector boosters. “This has to be worth at least a dollar” only for it to be worth 10 cents really hits home how bad of a product this is. I cannot speak for others but you, pleasant kenobi, and saffron olive are the best examples of how fun magic can be. You all genuinely love this game and play for fun above all. I love watching pros like spike, andrea, lsv, and reid duke; but they fill my competitive urge not my goofy urge. If I ever want to recapture that feeling I used to have playing kitchen table with my friend in middle school,I come to your channel.
These are quickly becoming my favourite videos, since we get to see you being yourself. The spreading seas excitement is just so great. To heck with the haters, it's fun watching you just goof around and have a good old time. The price guesses are just a part of the fun!
"I'm going to spread my seas over my opponent..." - Prof, 2023. Been watching you for what feels like over a decade at this point. Thank you for everything Prof.
I do find it interesting the gradual move up from draft, to set, to(more consistently) collectors packs in the booster box game. That aside, it's still fun to watch and see some nice pulls.
Don't be embarrassed about guessing prices Prof! I guess too, and generally will hold up some fingers or think a number while you're making your prediction and see which of us is closer, or sometimes see who wins via Price is Right rules. It's a fun mental exercise, especially when the answer pops right up after! Really liking that part of these videos, even if it (and, sorry that it) gives you anxiety.
Seeing a _COLLECTOR BOOSTER BOX GAME_ vid going 45 minutes long fills me with an equal amount of hope, fear, terror, disappointment, and casual intolerance, especially considering that each box has *_ONLY 12 PACKS!..._* I guess that's an upgrade from the 10 or *4* pack boxes, but _come on, now..._ And we understand Prof. Very few people are actually _asking_ for you to do this, for you to throw away your money... We understand that you are doing this because you actually just barely want to, and it's okay. We still love you!💞 I'm just barely missing a gift edition bundle with this set... I don't need/want much, just 1 collector booster per set is fine for me... AND, you get a cool foil box to keep along with it (and the spindown! Yaaaaaay, variety!)
It took me a while to warm up to the Prof. It took a while to see it was just a character. I then became entertained. It helped when he goes to other shows and they call him Brian instead of just Prof.
I absolutely love this series, thanks so much for being you, prof! No matter how silly or stupid you might feel, we love you! Thanks for all you do for the MTG community!
As someone who has only been playing MtG for a couple of years, I really enjoy these videos because I like hearing what *you* think a card is worth. Money is such a inconsistent concept nowadays that being "good" at guessing a price is basically impossible. Please try to not feel self conscious
I want to thank you because of you and 1 or 2 other content creators. I decided to start my own RUclips thing on a different channel. Thank you for the inspiration.
I just... I want *one* person to not call it 'twinning' Twins. It's one 'n', it's "twine-ing", which means to wind or spiral around something. Gah! But I'm glad to hear you like the set, Prof. The flavor is out of this world, the art is utterly astonishing, and I loved drafting it. Great fun to to watch, as always.
I’m so sorry people have been mean to you in the comments !!! I really appreciate hearing you reflect on the nostalgia of the cards, and I think the value you attribute represents that sentimental quality of the game. thank you for being you !
Last time I bought Magic was Weatherlight in 8th grade. Yet here I am, every week. Not for Magic, but for you, Prof. You're a force for what's good in the world :)
Prof. Don't listen to haters. Their going to hate even if you were off by a penny. It's more about your banter. At least you know I like it. And that's enough for me.😊
Just joined the patreon at the signed card level! Super looking forward to seeing what card I get, I'll probably see if I can build a deck around it! I used to have TONS of MTG cards, very old ones as well...then I left them at a friend's house and his dog ate EVERY last card. Tore them to bits and made them all worthless. Because of that I took a 10+ year break from the game. A good friend finally got me back into the game with commander, so I'm trying to look around and determine what type of deck I'd like to play! Maybe this enchantment will give me a good push in the right direction lol. Also, don't worry about people yelling because you don't know the price of pieces of cardboard haha. I think we all have that voice in our heads to try and make us doubt ourselves, but you're doing an amazing job! I've enjoyed watching a lot of your videos (mainly shuffle-up and play and your review videos) Keep up the good work :D
Thanks for this video prof. I stopped buying paper magic because it's become kind of a luxury expense for me these days but I still love seeing them opened and your booster box gamed are unmissable.
Heyo! I'm new to the game and your channel helps me get a little closer to up to date one video at a time. I love these videos because your guesses are very close to what I would guess and it's like a fun minigame, you being wrong is completely irrelevant! Thank you for your videos, and for doing these booster box games in spite of how you feel during them
Im a competitive player, but I am very new to MTG. I love your videos coming from you and your team. Ignore the haters. The people who hate are people who are jealous of your intelect of the game. Any random hater will try and cope by quickly looking up the price themselves just to seem like they knew the price of the top of their heads and make you feel bad. Dude. Ignore them. This is a great video. Remember, you are making this video for people like me. Not the freaks that would try to make you feel bad. Keep doing what you are doing and being yourself! GGs
Never worry about wrong guesses, it's endearing and it means you are human like the rest of us. I'm a casual player and seeing you make the odd wrong guess me feel better about my own errors. All is good Prof. Just enjoy it.
A big part of the price of the Enchanting Tales is that they're available in everything, so only the Mythics have really held up their value due to limited supply. Second reprint of Doubling Season this year though, so getting those for cheap has been pretty cool.
Honestly, the professor's character IS how most experts and professors are in real life as they have so much to do and have to balance knowledge and patience to teach people. The voices of "How can they not know?" are the voices that scare off and shut down students who also would not know, and a perfectionist expert scares away people not at the same level. The professor makes mistakes and gets laughed at because he can take it with a reputation and life experience, the young and self-aware student can't but their mistakes are looked over so they can learn.
Hey man, I've generally avoided your content over the years. I was pretty lukewarm to your personality but there was a lot of interesting stuff you did. I gave you another shot over the last week as I sift through my massive collection and I've found I enjoy you a lot more now. That moment of vulnerability you had talking about how you feel about doing these types of videos hit me pretty hard. You seem like a great dude and I appreciate you putting yourself out there like that. Subbed and will be watching all future videos.
I don't think I've ever commented on your vids before, but I appreciate the content - don't ever worry what negative people say, I'm nearly 40 myself, we're too old to worry about pleasing everyone. Never change, you're great as you are.
Prof - we love you. No need to b so self conscious. We all are human and make mistakes. I hope no one is judged by their mistakes or embarrassing moments but on the content of our character. And you, my friend, have an amazing character. Be unapologetically you !! ❤

The art for this set really is stunning. Every time I look up the values and see just how little they're worth, I'm like, "b-but... it's so pretty..."
For real, the art in this set is so gorgeous that it deserves a higher price point!
Buyers fatigue, over saturation and chase cards. It’s a recipe for disaster.
Then buy them :)

Hey prof just wanted to say you do amazing with these videos and make it more entertaining than any bland know-it-all. You give this channel life and happiness and just generally made a wonderful channel and community surrounding.
Easily my favorite MTG channel & content! Thank you Prof!
Booster box game is so much fun to watch, thank you Professor!
I really like this much more than the regular booster box game. I’m just one of the very few that usually doesn’t watch all the way through booster box game videos but hearing you talk about the cards makes the video so much more interesting. Even if you don’t guess prices, it’s just nice to hear what you think of the cards
I really like watching these style of openings because it is fun just hearing you ramble in between guesses.
Prof, watching this video is like watching our group at my local card shop open packs. It's awesome and hope you keep doing these
"I dont play standard, I play magic the gathering", that one got me. Comedy gold.
These are quickly becoming my favourite videos, since we get to see you being yourself. The spreading seas excitement is just so great. To heck with the haters, it's fun watching you just goof around and have a good old time. The price guesses are just a part of the fun!
I think the marker ink is worth more in itself than the Knightly Valor, and that sums up the whole state of the game right there.
"I'm going to spread my seas over my opponent..." - Prof, 2023.
Been watching you for what feels like over a decade at this point. Thank you for everything Prof.
I barely know anything about Magic. I just love the art and some of the lore. Thanks for making these awesome videos.
I do find it interesting the gradual move up from draft, to set, to(more consistently) collectors packs in the booster box game. That aside, it's still fun to watch and see some nice pulls.
Hey Prof, keep stumbling through the dark. It's authentic and relatable. Anyone nit picking your actions isn't worth your time!
I enjoy making guesses alongside of you and then seeing the price come up. Thank you for being a normal vulnerable human on camera.
your excitement from all the enchantments made me want to keep watching
I’d rather someone be genuine and human. That is what makes the content unique and relatable all these years. Just keep being you.
You know we just love you prof. We will gladly watch even a chaos booster box game
Seeing a _COLLECTOR BOOSTER BOX GAME_ vid going 45 minutes long fills me with an equal amount of hope, fear, terror, disappointment, and casual intolerance, especially considering that each box has *_ONLY 12 PACKS!..._*
I guess that's an upgrade from the 10 or *4* pack boxes, but _come on, now..._
And we understand Prof. Very few people are actually _asking_ for you to do this, for you to throw away your money...
We understand that you are doing this because you actually just barely want to, and it's okay. We still love you!💞
I'm just barely missing a gift edition bundle with this set...
Awesome video! I absolutely loved the commentary AND the price guessing. Fantastic stuff!!
When professor started singing a meaure of "into the woods" I may have melted a lil bit..

It just dawned on me that you sign those cards left handed! Now I have to rewatch a bunch of your game play videos!
The art / border / theme of Enter the Void is great. Much better then many many years of styles side by side.
Professor tells it like it is again, thanks . I am a sucker for the art and a 60 or 40 card draft any day over just opening packs. Much love
I love this "Old man yells at booster box" videos. 😂
Keep going strong, professor.
Prof., your love for the game is infectious. Don't let the haters get you down.
I’m so sorry people have been mean to you in the comments !!! I really appreciate hearing you reflect on the nostalgia of the cards, and I think the value you attribute represents that sentimental quality of the game. thank you for being you !
I much prefer this format, prof! Even if your banter is just price estimates, I prefer this to the music!
his explanation at 35:00 is so great, keep it up prof, dont change
I love the profs videos, i watch them whenever i feel like watching something Magic related but aint sure of what to watch
I just started watching the professor and I all ready love his energy and he got me back into magic and I hope he keeps it with the goof ball energy
And that's enough for me.😊
I always love these unscripted videos! Even if it isnt a collector booster box game I am always excited to see more of your content! ❤❤❤
I just enjoy watching you do stuff, its really enjoyable.
I just enjoy watching the openings and guesses, whether they're right or wrong. Keep it up!
I love this sets feeling. It's good to see so many fill art foils going for cheap.
Thank you for your videos, and for doing these booster box games in spite of how you feel during them
Prof, never change. You're the best. Cheers !
Professor, we absolutely adore you. It doesn’t matter if you guess right. We love the stories.
I saw on my notifications "I actually did it!" -my first thought, "Prof won a game of Commander on camera?!"
Very interesting how prof tends to overestimate former commander staples that got power crept.
Loved the reference "Beans. Beans. Nothing but beans!"" from Into The Woods. 8:22
"No tears please. It's a waste of good suffering." *Mashes the like button on any Professor collector box opening*
Prof - we love you. No need to b so self conscious. We all are human and make mistakes. I hope no one is judged by their mistakes or embarrassing moments but on the content of our character. And you, my friend, have an amazing character. Be unapologetically you !! ❤
I love your videos, your so passionate about the game and it shows. Thank you for your amazing content!
