- Grosse Pointe Shores is the wealthiest of the 5 Grosse Pointe communities. The only other Grosse Pointe in the same category as the Shores when it comes to median household income would be Grosse Pointe Farms. However; All 5 of the Pointe’s show a 6 figure median household income so take that as you will.

Chris, saying "Relaxed border patrol policies" is a GROSSE understatement -- it's wide open. This series is enjoyable to watch, I build models and use channels like yours to watch and listen to when working. You have a perfect humor to information ratio. Thanks for your time, work and posting.....
mike
I imagine many of the "lost" mansions of Grosse Pointe were simply too large and while most likely still in perfect order, were demoliahed and replaced by more modest, liveable and easier to manage than the great estates of the early 20th century. Maintaining such palatial residences would have required a substantial staff of caretakers and servants, which would be prohibitively expensive, if one could even find the staff.
Those relaxed border policies do not exist on the border that the Ford house faces between US and Canada.
How true......@@pyrexmaniac

Should've been named the 'Monaco of Michigan' instead of Grosse Pointe Shores. Would've been way more fitting lol. But, as a native New Yorker, this neighborhood reminds me a lot of Malba Queens. May be biased, but my favorite neighborhood in all of Michigan is Detroit's Indian Village. It has the same feeling as Forest Hills Gardens. Anyway, long-time viewer of the channel, I'd like to say thank you for all that you do. Happy holidays and much love to all Michiganders from Midtown Manhattan. God bless.
Thanks for the gift, and thanks for watching! Your continued support is much appreciated by me!
Sounds like you're familiar with Monaco, is it? I would say you're about 2 hrs to the north of Provence. There's even a Provencal rd , directly off Lakeshore dr. Old money families, ie the Dodge estates.
If you like Indian Village style towns, it's younger cousin, Birmingham has some beautiful neighborhoods with similar character. Franklin too lol 👌
You can have tea at the Ford mansion
I’ll bet the older homes torn down were much more beautiful and grand than the replacements. Amazingly beautiful area and what a view. Chris, you are the master of Detroit. I live in Los Angeles and would love to leave this hell hole for a place like this. Thank you for sharing it. Cheers!
No doubt!
Possibly so. At least you have quite a few nicely preserved homes in the other Pointes.
I like LA, like San Diego more.
- Everyone's ditching the Midwest but the Midwest has its perks!
True, But why leave the mess you voted for? Jk. Ya no joke LA and San Francisco have been going downhill since the 80s.
@@mambamolt_tt73I’m one of the never voted for any of what California is. I’ve always been an opposing voter and a loser of all votes I’ve placed. The culture here has been destroyed but the state still has amazing beauty.
Very nice. Thanks for posting some really cool videos, with commentary. Be well and Happy Hollidays to you and yours.
Happy Holidays to you as well, and thank you!
Looked like a perfect weather day to take a long walk along Lake Shore.
Grosse Pointe Shores is the 21st Wealthiest enclave in the entire US!!!
Fantastic vid thank you .....those fish flies are slippery. too ...one must be cautious when walking on them
I lived in Michigan for 40 years and it was how unfriendly they became to business is what did the state in .
Love the old homes! Would be nice to live there if you could afford it. I'll bet there's no section 8 housing there. Thank you Chris for always giving us these comprehensive videos! They always surpass others on you tube for information.
Thank you, that's what I strive for!
If I got money, I move out of state. There isn’t even a movie theater or entertainment nearby and there more hospitals than there are gas stations. Not a fan of living in a home with nothing to do but staring at other people’s lawns and mansions. FYI, you’ll notice a lot of people that live in gross pointe cities drive old cars.
@@tiberianexcaliburthat’s bc all their ‘nice’ cars are in Palm Beach or Naples FLORIDA!🤣
@@josephsierzengaIV I assume they’re just old money rich passed on my their parents or grandparents
@@tiberianexcalibur that is the case in a lot of the time indeed
Martha Stewart bought a house that belonged to one of the Ford's. It came with the stipulation that the driveway must be covered in crushed red limestone. Every fall they scoop all the stones up and replace them in the spring.
That's in Maine
Bar Harbor Maine
I had no idea how nice this place is. Thanks for the video.
Great video
Thank you!
Beautiful
There was a story on the morning news show about the organized theft ring today.
Did you see it on local or national? I saw it through social media and then looked into it more it's crazy.
@@ChrisHarden ABC national news.
Great video. I moved from Grosse Pointe Shores a few years ago and got to see my old home on this video. Thanks so much for the trip down memory lane! ❤😊
Chris, great drone shots of the Ford house. You are correct about the tear downs along Lake Shore Drive. If metro Detroit has a real cold snowy winter, by February you will be defrosting down in Florida again making more videos.
I have about 20 videos on Florida left to edit, stopped working on those temporarily because nobody was watching.
Albert Kahn was a great architect. There is an amazing old former Ford factory that he designed near me in Richmond, CA. Right by the bay. Beautifully maintained-now used as offices and an event space
Nice, didn't know he had a building in Cali.
You did not mention the beautiful Grosse Pointe Yacht Club or is considered to be in Grosse Pointe Woods!?
It’s Grosse Pointe Shores(Private)
Beautiful scenery. I love it! This is a wonderful video!😊❤
Thanks for the comment as always!
Hey brother, I always enjoy and appreciate your videos. Good job 👍🏾
Thanks, much appreciated!
I would love to see a video tour of Lansing. And compare it to Detroit 😊
I'll make some videos on Lansing one of these days
Read up that Edsel was a boat owner and commuted to the Rouge on his personal water craft occasionally. Wonder if his boat house survives.
Ford family members still live in the Shores!
I have been to the edsel ford estate a couple of times. Its pretty cool
Definitely
Funny this should pop up today. I was just talking to my cousin who used to live in Grosse Pointe Park in the 70's. Turns out her ex-husband is currently Mayor of Grosse Pointe Woods. Google Mayor of Grosse Pointe Woods. You'll see Arthur Bryant.
The bbq Arthur Bryant? I thought he was the city planner.
I couldn't pass on the Arthur Bryant reference. Mean spirited not my intent. 👍
Anything wrong about Arthur Bryant?
@@dereks517 That's immediately what I thought of too. I've been to Arthur Bryant's actually. Legendary place!
In '09 I had to go to KC for work and I was under the impression that AB was being served at some point.
It wasn't genuine ab, but licensed by the hotel.
I was not a campy hamper, and never got to taste the real deal.
Are you from the east side also?
Chris was correct, the house is on Lakeshore drive on Newark because the old houses were torn down and the lots were much huge or back then, they were divided up into smaller lots and newer houses. The taxes broke a lot of families and the upkeep of the huge homes were outrageous
Chris, what kind of video camera do you use in your vehicle? Interested, thank you.
Look up Rose Terrace Gross Point. It was a Dodge family home that was taken down in the early 80's.
Rose Terrace II 55KSQFT
And MeadowBrook was originally supposed to be built on Lake Shore Dr but was only partially finished and the project was shuttered. Lots of the home was actually moved and used in the construction of MeadowBrook Hall.
It was planned to be 85KSQFT
Just to be clear, the South American crime wave hit OAKLAND county which is 25 miles north of Grosse Pointe.
Oakland county is not north of grosse pointe.
They tax out the riff raff.
Still seeing utility poles in the Shores!
Yup... pretty much everywhere in the US of A.
4:44 Still meadow lane: Approx 700k to 800k for 5500 sq ft.
In LA those would be 3 million easy

Check out Franklin, Beverly Hills and W Bloomfield Michigan. All crazy money and crazy houses out there.
Grosse Pointe Shores is wealthier than all of them…
But they are very nice areas.
Franklin Bloomfield Hills Orchard Lake and Birmingham are the only cities in Metro-Detroit that are comparable in median household income
Chris got him that nice home in Gross Pointe Shores from that fat RUclips money every month
Haha I wish
Ha ha ha that’s a trick question, there are no nice neighborhoods in Detroit.
Biden America. Open borders and honoring criminals.
Thank You !
