A few hundred of these in the Dominion wars would have been great escorting the big ships.

I love this design of ship! There should be more of this in shows and games especially.

It's a solid, sensible, simple design that's well-executed and aesthetically pleasing. It just looks like something Starfleet would come up with. Thanks for sharing!

I have loved this design since it first came out. It looks like a sleek, smaller USS Voyager. I love smaller Federation ships.

Honestly, I love it. Then again, I'm not a "city person" and the notion of huge, gigantic, starships doesn't appeal to me. The idea of the variable alignment nacelle of Voyager was a brilliant idea, even though it was so rough on the model that they never really took advantage of it (much like saucer separation in the Enterprise D). The idea of small, fast, ships seem lost to the writers. Remember when in TNG someone had to get to the Enterprise ASAP and had to travel in a photon torpedo?

I loved this little ship when I was playing Armada. These are the Voyager era ships that in my head canon are rarely seen because they’re the ship designed after Wolf359, meant to be more single purpose and fast with variable warp nacelle to minimize damage to space. Then the Dominion war started and the Federation paused production on these ships to instead focus on maximized modular ship frame production. Then they discovered changing engine design to avoid disrupting space with the Sovereign so things moved towards the Sovereign style ships, which would explain why Voyager A was so much like a hybrid of the two ships.

I'm a massive fan of ships that clearly have family design language and this fits so well with the Intrepid. The side on nacelle is strange at first but I think it makes sense in universe along with the notches out of the hull. Even with the underside having a lot going on, I love every bit of it.

Permit me introduce you to the first patrol squadron; USS Kittiwake (NCC-96210) USS Kestrel (NCC-97212) and the USS Harrier (NCC- 97078) They are part of a story I'm writing right now. All the Fighter Squadrons in Starfleet are being decommissioned in favor of the Interceptor-class Patrol ships. This is a story of the first.

I always loved this design. It's the perfect size for an escort during war, and with little refitting could be redeployed as a science vessel with teeth. I've watched your previous video on this ship. Would be awesome to see some new renders from various angles of the ship landed on a planetary surface. But great updated video and enjoy seeing your guys' hard work bringing these ships to life in the videos.

If you omit the hangar bay and use the captains yact as a shuttle craft it would be a perfect Defiant type ship. J.

Fills a spot as a streamlined Intrepid. Listed as only about 20 meters shorter than the Intrepid and built later it's more of a new and improved over a clean design. It's windows make it look much smaller than the 323 meters it's listed as. A 2007 cross section drawing show that the warp core drops out of the bottom and a turbo lift travel up near that top access port. Those warp nacelles turned upright would look like a shuttle craft at 10:06 If the Bussard collector was colored as a window and not Reddish orange. Way off topic, otherwise the ship looks great.

Man, it’s been nearly 10 years already? And to think how much has happened since then (both good and bad) though I will say I don’t miss the lack of Star Trek content we had back then (it’s like the lost years or something for the franchise)

It reminds me of voyager and hats hilarious because my main STO account has an intrepid I’ve called USS Interceptor for nearly 10 years now. Kept the voyager aesthetic and weapon systems just kept upgrading the ship each time a ship like her came about.

I think it could use some more work. The aft beam arrays might not have a blind spot on the sides. The warp nacelles seem to be in the way. However the basics are covered and all in all... a nice ship.😊😊

I have always fantasized about what Star Trek ship that I would love to own. I want a leisure/utility/explorer type ship. Voyager's Intrepid Class is my favorite Star Trek design but just too big. I thought about The Raven, The Defiant, and even the Oberth! but THIS Design is the perfect size! This ship would be my home and also a Luxury Explorer ship. A Private Cruise ship to Risa! LOL!! And a rugged outback explorer. A Subaru Crosstrek of the stars.

I've long thought that an Intrepid would be the class of ship I'd most like to serve on, actually, partly *for* the size. Small enough to more or less know everybody but not so small everyone's all up in each others' everything constantly. :)

  • @TrentonBennett

I think I've seen this before as well. This looks similarly based off the old Nova concept you see in the Star Trek TNG tech manual. I for one like it.
    Yeah I agree it's about 6-7 decks.

  • @dunsel5887

all in all, it's a good design except for the lone impulse I'd add one on the bottom deck to balance the thrust, other than that I like it. great job!
I like small ships because as technology increases size decreases and power increases. ships can reflect that bey being smaller and more powerful the older more bulky ships,

Not crazy about the clam shell shuttle bay doors. I think it would`ve looked better with a more flat, inset door area like on Voyager.

I’m confused…Baldwin did an MSD when he designed the ship. The two big hatches on the bottom are clearly the ejection hatches.

It occurs to me that *that* looks more like what I would have expected the Defiant to look like than Defiant is. Maybe if they'd just blunted the nose to dock with the station more elegantly and look less like Voyager which was still running and there you go.
"Interceptor class" kind of bothers me cause it sounds more like a job than a name. But yaknow. :)

I'd like this design to NOT have a shuttle bay and just have the one aux craft. Without the shuttle bay I'd like it to have an oversized warp core so it could generate more power and carry heavier phasers than this size of ship would ordinarily have.
