Almost every Volvo Sensus infotainment tutorial video fails to mention that Volvo offers free software system upgrades for the first 4yrs/50,000 miles of ownership. Almost every function from navigation maps to driver safety assistance features can be updated by the owner (via USB downloads from Volvo's website) or installed at a Volvo dealership. Basically every late model Volvo can have nearly the same newer tech features as the current model year Volvo's. The German luxury automakers sure don't offer that service without the additional financial sodomizing for owners.
My understanding is that software and map updates are free for life. However, what is only free for four (4) years is “Volvo-On-Call”. That is what I was told when I purchased my XC60 in 2018. I believe that the price (in Canada) will be somewhere around $200.00, after the free four (4) years. If I missed understood, please correct me before I continue to spread false news.
You are the bomb!! Just reset my driver profiles on a Volvo delivered yesterday from Vroom with 13,000 miles on it. Greatly appreciate your help as a "baby boomer"!
Excellent, helpful video Mike. Thanks to those who suggested manual focus, because I was thinking my eyes were failing while trying to focus on the console while your arm was in focus.
I realize this is a 2019 video. However, I have a 2020 XC40. I am reading that there may be a free SIM for use during the first year, at least in the UK. Do you know whether or not this also applies to N.A. (specifically, Canada). Thanks!
hi Mike. a great video review on the settings on my new Volvo. Awesome!!! But perhaps turn off the auto focus on your camera next time so that 1/2 the video does not focus on your arm and not the-touch screen. I have learned so much thank you Mike
Great video Mike. Many thanks for taking the time and going thru all these features. This gives the person watching a chance to fast forward through the bits they are not interested in, whilst others (like me) can watch every second. For me, as a new Volvo XC90 owner of 1 day, this is a very informative video. Keep up the good work. #WorthAThumbsUp
Bought new Volvo xc 40 having 360 degree camera. But past few days not able to see 360degree camera while parking. The screen becomes dark while going inside the parking slot. Can you tell me wht is the setting?
No you don´t have to turn off the Automatic Parking Brake manually, when you start your Car. It goes off by it´s self, when doing this: 1. Seat belt on 2. pressing the Brake 3. Start the Car 4. Choose R or D 5. Drive the Car See page 415 (It was that page # in Swedish)
Hi Mike, thanks for your very well video explanation of Sensus. I drive a Volvo V60 T5 Momentem Pro from 2019 and in my main menu from Sensus every 4 options for: Navigation-Media-Phone-Average fuel consumption have a full black background. In your video I see you have different colours per item. Do you know how I can get these items in colour? Thanks in advance
Nice video man. Many thanks. I have a question: If i make a usb stick with music on the files (two for example, hip hop and disco ) why dosen't the car see them? Or i hawe to throw the pieces innthe pile to see them all. Thx man
Does anyone know the maximum of the USB you can use? I used a 64GB, it works. I tried a 256, and it didn't recognize it. I looked on Volvo's website but couldn't find any info.
Interesting video, but very confusing issue your finger was always pointing at a different line of information to the line you were talking about, as for the automatic parking brake it "does" release itself just as the car starts to drive away.
We just bought a 2019 S60 R-Design; I can’t for the life of me figure out how to get the climate control to remain in “automatic” mode each time I get back into the car. Every time I get in and start it, I’ve got to put it back in auto mode and turn the a/c on. First world problems; I get it, but still aggravating.
Icutmetal One thing to check is the chosen profile. I guess the a/c is disabled in there and the profile is “protected” to not auto save the changes you make.
Really all you did was read the screen for alot of them. I'm lost. I"ve had my car for two months. I dont feel safe driving it until I know how to operate the tech. I haven't driven it yet. Two months. All I have is the basic info on screen owners manual and youtube. Last car? 2008 Mazda 3. Keeping it out of sight, in garage, saves on tears. Where can I find info on what everything means, not just what it says?
@@MikesCarInfo Yes, I did. And after exhausting searches for answers of "how to", usually youtube, I sent several texts with several inquiries to the salesman. He barely answered half of them with one sentence. (Ink dried on the contract! Game over!) Then, when making an appt w/service I made it known that I was not happy, fed up w/car, all I want is a manual. "Someone will call you today". *Crickets. That was the "I"m Done" moment. Called to change the service appt due to the person driving it there had a scheduling issue and told same service rep no one called. She went to mgt, and the salesman was falling all over himself with "I can help you, bring it in". Well, sure- when I learn how to drive it to feel safe driving it, I'll bring it in so you can teach me. ???? A damn manual! But my response was "NOW? After me struggling for three weeks?" Sirius said "we'll delete your info, but we'll make a note". Where? If I'm no longer in the system, where? Oh, salesman text yesterday with "get out there and enjoy your car in this nice weather". SLAP. Nightmare central. My life savings. First new car in 13 yrs. Last new car of my life. Sorry so long. PS- Last night Volvo corporate sent me a pdf manual. I will print out the 41 pages and try to decypher this. Though it seems every time I look at the car, I'm in tears. It has been behind a closed garage door for the last month to avoid fury and tears. Denial is a good thing some times.

Do you mean service 2.0? That is lifetime free update. I got all my Volvo updated.
So, it’s “free” for the first 4 years/50,000 miles. How much does it cost after that?

I have xc60 Insp pro 2021 - Auto Hand brake (Tick) works - so no need for manual adjustment - just drive a head. Good Video. Thanks
Very informative, i would maybe just suggest turning off auto focus and keeping focus manually set for the screen.
Hello, I purchased a Volvo from Japan. The FM radio frequency stops at 90 MHZ. Can that be adjusted in the settings to reach 108 MHZ?
Great video, the hazy shots is annoying. So informative and helpful

Hi Mike, do you know if you can turn down the turn signal sound? I find it way too loud.
How do I turn on BLIS monitor. I think it was accidently turned off and I don't know how to turn it back on .
Thanks for all that info 👍🏼 I've learned a lot of what my most probably new car have!
for me the parking brake disengages when I try to drive off! :) its a nice feature

Probably I heard the same thing from the dealer in the test drive. So you don't have to turn it off.
I have the XC40 the handbrake (parking brake) comes off when you move away. As described by Leffe49
Mine also disengage automatically when I drive away.
Thanks, Mike. Very, very informative.

thank you, very comprehensive video
Great help Mike thank you. Just got a Volvo xc40 T5 Recharge. So this has really helped thank you 😊
What's it like 7mths in?
I’ve noticed that I can disengage the auto parking brake by simply bumping the accelerator after I put it in gear.

The system just looks for audio file extensions. It doesn't have the ability to browse folders like a computer.
@@MikesCarInfo ok. On my Honda Civic 2015 works fine with folders, and in any folder an other type of music 🙂

Hello! Could You please Tell me If suspension is normal or Air suspension? Could You set up suspension even is a normal car?
Any idea if the you're able to change the rings from the driver dashboard?
He talks about it at 1:31
Very informative, I would activate start / stop it works really well and reduces CO2 emissions in traffic
Not so good for the starter motor though
P Duhovic it’s fine, it’s designed to take it, this is my third car with start stop, never had an issue in a decade.
@@barclay50 if you change it after every 3 or 4 years then it's fine. But long term it cannot be good
Can the Screen be on Full Screen mode?
Thank you so much! 😊
Very informative vídeo. Like. But please keep it in focus
Hi. does this apply for ford fiesta as well :)

Wish you started with "How to change language" so the rest of the setup screen could be understood?!
pse. use manual focus on your camera
