Volvo Car USA announces 2023 lineup will be only hybrid or electric, and Google-equipped
The entire 2023 lineup of Volvo cars in the U.S. will consist of mild hybrid, hybrid or electric vehicles equipped with Google built-in, Volvo Car USA announced today.
With the popular XC90 and XC40 SUVs, as well as the V60 Cross Country, now receiving mild hybrid engines as standard (badged B4, B5, and B6), the Swedish luxury car brand is making good on its sustainability commitment to electrify its full range of vehicles. The effort reflects another step toward offering only pure electric vehicles by 2030 and being carbon neutral by 2040.
Regardless of lifestyle or access to charging, U.S. customers can now find an electrified Volvo car to fit their daily routines. For those without easy access to charging, mild hybrids offer increased efficiency over their predecessors, yet never need to be plugged in. New extended range plug-in hybrids offer all-electric driving in Pure mode while still providing a traditional gasoline-powered engine. And for those ready to leap directly into the future, the 402 horsepower, battery electric XC40 Recharge small luxury SUV and C40 Recharge luxury crossover offer zero tailpipe emissions.
Google built-in - already standard on the full-electric C40 Recharge and XC40 Recharge, the XC60, S90, and V90 Cross Country-rolls out to the entire Volvo Cars range for model year 2023. As part of the Google ecosystem, Volvo cars now offer a seamless transition between digital life at home and on the phone, bringing customers’ digital lives, and much greater personalization, directly into their cars. With Google Assistant for voice control, Google Maps as the native navigation system, and the Google Play store for additional apps, every Volvo car is equipped with a best-in-class digital experience.
With the upgraded infotainment system comes the ability to receive over-the-air (OTA) updates. All new 2023 Volvo cars are capable of receiving and installing software upgrades remotely. As software updates are rolled out, each 2023 Volvo car is expected to continue to improve over its lifetime.
Several models also receive styling updates for the new model year. New colors, wheels, and interior options that include leather-free materials, are available across the range in almost every model. The S60, V60 and V60 Cross Country feature refreshed styling with a new front grille design and updated rear bumper inserts. And with the elimination of trim lines across all models, customers have the freedom to combine the exterior design, interior upholstery, and equipment level of their choice. Music by Karl Casey

Mike reviewed a white 2017 XC90 T6 R Design at this Volvo dealership which convinced me to get my red 2017 XC90 T6 R Design. I'm still driving it 6 years later and still loving it.
The thing is it still drives like new. Only thing is, I am in the SoCal hilly area and it gulps gas @12 mpg. But on hwy its absolute joy.

The digital clock on the display screen is too small. The clock is not visible when you turn the navigation on. And no clock on the dashboard…
It's bigger in the old Sensus system and there's one on the dashboard too.

I have a 2023 XC 60. I really dislike the Google base info system. Liked the system in my 2019 XC 60 better. Just a personal preference.
What do you like about the old Sensus system compared to the new Google system? My wife and I are thinking of buying an XC 60 and I've seen mixed reviews about the Google Infotainment system.
Agreed. Wish I could get my 2021 xc60 back. You could see the song playing on Sirius without having to look at each station, the voice control for text messaging worked much better and also displayed in the driver display but no longer amd there is no self park anymore. Also, wireless charging removed and start/stop feature you have no choice on.
How do I reset the 'trip' setting after filling in gas so that I can keep track of what mpg I am getting? I can do that in my 21 XC 60......

It still amazes me that android Auto isn't installed. In the UK hheh have quited £300 to install a MY22 V90 C .
The audio system in my 2015.5 XC70 is much better than the one in my new 2024 XC90. The XC70 has a CD player and USB connectivity for thumb drives and other USB external devices. Seems the new Volvo is regressing. Also agree about the clock. And I miss the compass in the mirror. I am disappointed that my new car is not an improvement on my old car in these respects.
Download AudioWagon from the play store. I use a 1TB USB C drive, formatted FAT32, loaded +10,000 high resolution FAC flies on it. I let it run the first indexing then switch indexing to manual. Having a real file directory view is a treat.
I’ve just got a v60 but really struggling - I don’t seem to have the Profile feature in my settings so can’t connect to the Volvo app - any ideas??
You might have good luck making an appointment with your car dealer to have them work with you to learn the system. We have a new xc40. Our dealership has been very helpful. These systems “jump the shark”, and not in a good way.

Some hybrid Volvos do not have AM radio because of interference from the electric motor. The first time I saw this was on the XC90 Excellence.

After so many volvos it makes me truly sad that they dumbed the new system down. Removed half of the options.
Wont be able to buy a new one because of this.
The sensus infotainment was much more better than this google system - this is in fact a nightmare and makes the car as cheap like a Skoda . Now Volvo realizing that it was wrong decision and coming with every update back to sensus . The pilot assist shows this for example . Furthermore they canceled ( probably due to cost reasons ) the drive mode wheel . ANd that was for me reason enough to buy NO new Xc90 .
I would pay extra to have sensus back if i buy a new one. Cant let go of my MY19 s90

Very useless system. Volvo has take out android auto function, yet the play store has no Waze apps. USB play music also doesn't have, most terrible is the 360 camera doesn't have split screen when you are reversing your vehicle.
