    Rutgers is not overachieving. They are one of the largest universities in country. They were underachieving. There is no reason this program is not one of the top in country based on geography and what university offers students.

      They are also the 8th oldest university in the country and one of the original nine colonial colleges.

    Rutgers was 7-6 last year with the 4th toughest schedule in the country and a completely inept passing game. QB switch, upgrades in receiving Corps, returning talent, and what is considered one of the easiest BIG schedules, watch out for Rutgers!

      That schedule was very top loaded, this one is more balanced

    Rutgers beat Virginia Tech last year -- by 19 pts! And if you watch last year's game, you'll see Rutgers really punished VT in the trenches. What changed along the lines?

      @Basch_CFB  10 дней назад

      Last years game is in the past. Virginia Tech is more experienced, developed and got better throughout the year. Virginia Tech is a breakout team. And that was also in Piscataway, which matters. Virginia Tech is much better now than they were then.

      Rutgers is also more experienced. They bring back almost the entire team. A 19 point difference is a lot to make up in a year, especially when the two teams arw basically the same. If Drones had not played, maybe you could make an argument. Rutgers will also be coming off of a bye week when they play for some extra rest and preparation. This is the problem with human emotion based on historic "reputation" rather than unbiased computer analytics.

      Rutgers also beat Michigan State last year. They are a more stable program bc they didn’t have a coaching/staff change. I think RU gets it done in East Lansing this year.

      @@georgeforbes4875 you’re entitled to your opinion about Rutgers, I’ll be right here if and when I’m wrong. Much respect. To me, the part of that game that isn’t replicable is that VT will be much stronger against the run, and won’t have to defend a dynamic athlete at QB like they did in Wimsatt. Though I think there’s a good chance Kaliakmanis is an overall upgrade, in some matchups, he wouldn’t be preferable.

      @@Carlucci4380 I could easily see it, with it being W14, I’m trusting Jonathan Smith is going to have that ship right. MSU will be a different team from W1 to W14.

    born and raised in NewJersey been rooting for rutgers and attending game since my childhood we have couple bad season stiill believe we can improve and be a better team believe next season will be better 9-3 or 8-4 next season lose to ucla usc msu or Nebraska we known for stuggling agaianst big team way before we join the btn still think we can do better in the future also known for being good at every sport expect football which sadly the reason why we get mock by other schools and media

      Dude I love what they’re building. I will be happy with them having more success than what I predicted. They’re a solidly built team.

    This guy is very unfamiliar with the discipline and culture that’s been built at Rutgers. This is a developmental program filled with former NFL coaches. They hit last year with the least accurate QB in cfb with the hardest schedule in the conference. Now they can get average QB play with the easiest schedule and improved returners. And you think only 1 more win in the season? Idk if Virginia tech is paying you or what but you aren’t reading the data properly

    Taj Harris played one game for them last year

      Yes. Probably could’ve talked more about how his add was one that was expected to pay off and didn’t, kinda just glossed over him.

    Taj Harris hasnt played for rutgers in 2 years… he also played in 2 games and had 1 catch for 9 yards lol. Horrible research

      Yes he transferred from Cuse, but that transfer was expected to make a big impact.

    Rutgers will win anywhere from 8-10 games this year, all depending on theor qb play with Athan Kaliakmanis.Have 2 very good qbs that will be future stars in Ajani Sheppard and AJ Surace....the Scarlet Knights are no joke and will be the surprise on CFB this fall.

    Feels like there’s a lot of positive talk early on, followed by a lowball win/loss estimate of 7-5. A lot of other pundits putting that as the Rutgers floor. It feels incongruent to talk about an improved team and implicitly suggest they’re going to underperform.

    • @Basch_CFB
      @Basch_CFB  10 дней назад +1

      Well 2 things. 1. I do feel like they do have a lot of talent and they have improved, it doesn’t always show in the W/L record. 2. Rutgers going 7-5 is UNHEARD of in the last 10 years.
