Sega's 8-bit Aladdin game may not get the recognition that its 16-bit brother does, but this short, easy game really does perform wonders with the Master System hardware. It's perfect for kids, and it does a great job of capturing the feel of the movie!
Not bad - definitely way, way better than the official NES version (although the bootleg wasn't too bad). My fav SMS game to this day is still Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap! If I were to make a list of 10 must-play SMS games, this one would definitely be in my top 3. :)
Why didn't they include this version in the Aladdin Lion King Collection too? This version is the only one where you could play as Aladdin in his Prince Ali outfit. The Super NES and Sega Genesis versions doesn't even had that (well the Super NES version did in one level but that's only just the flying carpet bonus stage). Heck even the Game Boy and GBA versions doesn't had that.
I just thought of something. Jafar stole the lamp while Aladdin still had a wish left. Couldn't Jasmine have wished for Aladdin to be a prince again and still have been able to free the Genie? I mean, not for nothing because this way is better, but still.
Yeah this game had a ton of really imaginative design. So many different types of levels (the first two auto-scrollers, then some Prince of Persia platforming, the carpet ride, the Jafar fight), the cutscenes, even the way you have to trick a guard onto a switch in the Palace level. Super advanced for the SMS!

I love how this is some sort of 8-bit redux of the movie
Not only does it have parallax scrolling, but it also has pseudo-3D backgrounds similar to Toy Story on the Super Famicom and Mega Drive.
Parallax Scrolling?! on the Master System?!

Bit of a late reaction, but What would the rest of your top 10 SMS games be?
@@CaptRobau I'd cast votes for Phantasy Star, Ultima 4, and Miracle Warriors!
36:42 iconic music of Aladdin
this game port to gamegear too. but with small screen, it very hard to play same game of master system
umbababa hsk Definitely. The Sonic games had the same problem :/ can't see enemies in time!
@PigeonBird7700 Yup. It had a US release iirc.
Right int he childhood! I remember struggling on the first level when i was a kid
For a minute there I thought it was Prince of Persia.
@@sridrawings4510 Well, Aladdin is an adaptation of 1001 Arabian Nights, a public domain folk tale.
I’ll never Forget
This 8-bit version was available in the U.S. via the Game Gear.
0:21 fmv in master system?
Hahah almost 😉
It is very impressive
I can't get that parallax scrolling. This is on the Master System too!
knowing the cartoon, both movies and the remake.... this just makes jafar look like he should have.... his box of fux is apparently empty
Should have this one on the collection instead of the shitty Gameboy version.

I'm getting a Prince of Persia vibe from this game...which is kinda ironic considering that Aladdin is very similar to Prince of Persia.
Aladdin and Prince of Persia are adaptations from 1001 Arabian Nights.
As a matter of fact, I get the same vibes, when I see the SNES-version.
I just thought of something.

I mean, not for nothing because this way is better, but still.
To make a wish the lamp needs to be rubbed.
This game is easy overall indeed, but at times, rigid jumping and ledge grabbing mechanics make me want to throw the controller out the window
At 7:39 I went down to collect the apple and I can't get back up or anything. Help anyone?...
Grab the ledge and pull yourself back up, like I did at 8:08.
@@NintendoComplete thanks! I figured it out just shortly after lol. At 8:18, how do ya collect that bread??
Np! You can leap from right side of the pit to grab the ledge, and he'll grab the bread as he's dangling. Then just pull yourself up and move on.
@@NintendoComplete That's what I figured but it still won't grab onto the ledge. It either goes to far or too short...
It looks like you do a slide
I know this video is 5 years old but I just realized watching it today that this game has 3d in the very first level. On a Master System game.

By the blue cave level I'm struggling cause I don't know how to slide down
I only played the Sega version of this Game Myself
This is also Sega
Complete In 100%!
КАкая же всё таки в игре ахуенная графика по меркам 8 битной мастер систем.
This is kind of like the game gear version
Do you trust me?
Yes..

Aladdin
I love it
best game 👍
