    Fulham panic-bought on deadline day. They didn’t buy players who worked in the team but players who were good, just not for them.
    Villa planned their transfers, bought players who work well under smith and have bought them early on so they can spend pre season adjusting. That Fulham comparison is lazy and doesn’t work. No one makes fun in wolves for signing 16 players after getting promoted

    City won because they are already strongest , yet they keep upgrading by signing Cancelo and Rodri.Spurs are 2nd with Ndombele and Lo Celso and Arsenal are 3rd with United 4th due to defense improvements , but lack of offense improvements. Just my opinion as a United fan.

    Personally I don’t think Leicester should be that low, we have Evans who’s solid benkovic who we loaned to Celtic last season and he worked with Rodgers whilst he was there, yes we didn’t reinvest the money but we only received 70 ish million of that as his release clause from hull. And yes Man U over payed but that means all other clubs are over charging so it’s pointless.

    • @numbersevenunited915
      @numbersevenunited915 5 лет назад +19

      I think it's key to remember he was clear in his evaluation. Keeping a want-a-way star player is important because he's a star player but there's no sign of intent of investment into the defence or attack for the club and who knows the effect he could have on the boys in the dressing room when it is quite clear he wanted to move on. Think it's unfair to say he doesn't like Palace, I'd like to think he is as neutral as he can be. Obviously he loves West Ham but he put Spurs 1st and the rivalry there is fierce. Ultimately I think Palace did well not to cave to lowball offers but then again 100M for a 60M at best player is steep. I do respect your opinion though and understand how important he was to Palace last season.

      @@notieming Both reached Finals last year. Obviously Tottenham were in a much more lucrative and competitive tournament but they still both got there and I think honestly both spent a lot of money but if you look at Arsenal they spread the cost of a lot of deals to manage it. As a Manchester United fan I'm happy we sured up the defence but for a team that is getting outscored by the rest of the big six we needed creativity and attacking threat which both these teams now have in abundance. Also can we talk about Tottenham holding on to Alderweireld and Eriksen so far, that's big. I'd say Spurs had the best window, much needed investment into a scary but impressive project. Looking forward to this season, except to see where United finish because I don't see us breaking top four.

    How can Spurs be first? Let's say Kane gets injured who will be their striker then? If Son plays striker then they will have to put someone like Nkoudou in at LM. Arsenal on the other hand have lost Ramsey but they have replaced him with Ceballos and besides him, they have strenghen their squad massively and if one of Arsenal players gets injured then they have good backup on all positions. So I don't really get that tbh.
    Otherwise good video Spencer, good to have you back.

    love the channel but as a Villa fan its getting mad frustrating hearing so many people criticise our transfer business in the summer. The fulham comparison is tired and lazy imo, ultimately we haven't tampered with the main core of our squad that actually got us promoted and can push us forward. Whereas Fulham
    We lost 14/15 players this summer including Jedinak, Whelan, Micah Richards, Adomah and Ross McCormack to name a few. All players who either only played last season due our lack of quality and depth or haven't featured in our team for years. However these players were some of our highest wage earners and if we kept hold of them we'd be favourites for relegation.
    Even if we didn't get promoted we would've had to do a massive rebuild. With all our signings you will find there are links with a handful players either playing under Smiths management before or playing with eachother at international youth level or for a previous team. No chance of anyone feeling alienated on the training ground.
    Also if you actually look at the Squad we would've had if we didn't make all those signings, you'd see that we have heavily strengthened and we have competitions for starting spots in every position despite having the least time to do transfer dealings out of all the premier league sides. Also on average our spending equals out to £11m per signing which with our signings and in this day and age in football isn't bad going.
    I do understand the concerns but the bulk of our business was done before our first friendly nearly a month ago, the team have had a lot of time to integrate and there is a strong sense of camaraderie in the camp.
    love the channel spen been following since your first video, just think Villa are heavily misunderstood in the challenge they faced this window and they have prior to popular belief done a great job. Hopefully it sets a platform for us to push on and improve in future seasons.

    Yes Liverpool kept their big players, But they were never in any danger of leaving in the first place. It’s different for a team like palace because all of their star players were wanted by big clubs. Not one of Liverpool’s key players were linked away with a move this summer so therefore it is easier for Klopp to keep his players where as it wasn’t as easy with teams like Palace, Everton, Leicester and Chelsea. Not to mention they have brought no one in, Liverpool should be at least in the bottom half of the table

    This May be a very unpopular/slightly biased opinion but I feel Chelsea has one of the best windows if not the best despite the ban.
    Why?
    Almost 280 mil gained through player sales where Marina miraculously has pulled so much £ out of deadwood.
    Of course bringing in Kovacic and Pulisic who will both excel in Franks early system.
    Not only this but we’ve managed to pen down some of England’s most important players who will be the future and current spine of Chelsea and English Football such a RLC, CHO, Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham Reece James, Fikayo Tomori etc
    Also smartly extending contracts of other player such as the Willian’s, Pedro’s, David Luiz, etc where we can get the max amount for the deadwood next summer.
    We have also made clear of the new era and approach the club and hierarchy are taking by appointing Super Frankie Lampard who has the exact same philosophy as the club and bringing in Cech and Makelele, soon Drogba, to bring the Chelsea back etc
    Overall we have had a criminally underrated window for the business we have done and the way the club is moving. We are massively going under the radar, and as everyone knows, that’s the worst thing you can do to is because we’ll always perform and do the impossible.

  • @WarEaglePlaysHD
    @WarEaglePlaysHD 5 лет назад +1

    What was Villa meant to do, Spencer? “Changed too much”. Did you see Villa’s squad after last season? Lost Tammy (no chance of signing him), same with Tuanzebe. Lost Adomah, Whelan, Jedinak, Hutton, Elphick. James Chester, our club captain, was essentially a loss with his injuries now. Maybe those names don’t seem like much but that’s our top scorer from 17-18 and 16-17. Also former captains and our club’s leaders. We could’ve lost even more in Mings, Hause, and El Ghazi but the club signed them permanently after their loans.
    Our squad was completely and utterly barebones so what else were Villa supposed to do? They spread out their transfers and thought carefully, unlike Fulham who splashed all their cash at the end of the window in a panic. I’m disappointed you essentially just went with the “doing a Fulham” sentiment when in reality they’re quite different. We’ll see if the end product is the same, but the strategies were different.
    Villa NEEDED to sign players.

    I'm sorry Spencer, massive fan, but I respectfully disagree. Firstly, yes, West Ham have had a decent window but claiming "None of the players we sold would get into the first team" is just not true, is it? Arnautovic has been practically single handedly dragged West Ham to results for the last season or two and has been your best player IMO, with Lanzini out. Secondly, Man United have had a terrible window. MASSIVELY overpaying for two defenders that should have gone for around 70 mill at most combined. Their midfield is considerably weaker with the loss of herrera, and they have lost their most deadly attacking threat in Lukaku, even if he had an off season for the majority of last year, whilst not replacing the losses. I can't really say how you justify them being in 5th, nor Liverpool being in 7th. Yes, they kept their players, but they didn't improve their squad at all, so not a superb transfer window. Don't get me wrong, not losing players is great. They didn't have a bad window at all! But 7th is just too high to justify, again, IMO. On the other hand, agree with a lot of the others, especially everton and Aston Villa, but I just think you're being biased towards West Ham (Happens to the best of us, always wanting to see the best in your club) and rating Manchester United especially around 5 or 6 places too high. Love the content Spence, just think you were a little off :)

    have to disagree with the villa prediction. The money was spent wisely and had to be done, after they play off final villa had a squad of 14 players. The transfers may not be prolific names but they had to be signed due to the loan players going back and us releasing senior players. We needed to strengthen in certain areas. The signings were also well thought out compared to fulham which has become a big comparison. El Ghazi, Mings and Hause were all bought back. Konsa and Jota had played under smith before, Targett and Heaton have had premier league games and are not risky signings in my opinion. Douglas Luiz had been picked out by pep guardiola over the last few seasons but couldnt play due to a work permit. The only risky signings are marvelous, trezeguet and wesley who have all shown promise in their leagues respectively. Yes we may have overspent on some players but these were all thought out necessary transfers unlike fulham who panic spent on deadline day.
