Good troubleshooting. Fuel, air, spark, compression or timing. I own 2x Farmertec MS660's. Was helping a neighbor take down 4 medium size oak trees using 3 of my saws and everything was working at the end of the day. Next morning MS660 #1 (oldest- 2 years) would not start. Pulled the air filter and sprayed starting fluid with lubricant into the carb. Saw started on second pull; RPMs immediately raced upwards, then died. 2nd attempt I achieved a very high idle for 4 seconds. Inspection revealed one of the rear cylinder head screws was gone and the other was raised up 1/4". The 2x front screws were both very loose. Both my 660's have the 56mm big bore kit with high compression pistons. I only used a "T" handle #27 Torx bit to tighten the 4x head bolts. Ordered the proper Stihl tool and tightened to 15nm/11.2FT-LBS of torque. All better now. Loved your 20 video build-set on the Stihl 070 saw. Keep up the good work T1CSG!
I talk about tightening those head bolts. In a great book I read and mentioned" chainsaw lumber making by will malloff " warns us those bolts on big saws need to be checked at the end of each day. Great catch and solution on your part. As you found out a T handle wrench just don't get it! Thank you for your kind words. I been doing a bunch of yard work. second that calms down I am going to upgrade the orginial 070 they sent to the US. I am going to do a follow up video on that whole process in coming weeks
I own this saw and really like it always starts on first or second pull. But than one day after cutting a 26” diameter tree down The saw just shut off and I haven’t been able to get it to start ever since ❕🤔 I have weak spark. And even spraying starter fluid in the carb it will not start Maybe a new coil and plug will help I just ordered one. Thanks ❗️❗️❗️
Very likely it's your coil. I suggest always having a spare coil. They are weird critters. You think you have it figured out and then you learn you don't. Before you do that change and try a new spark plug. The plugs just as weird as a coil so don't trust what you see swap into the only way to to really know I have both coil testers where you can test the strength and the presence of fire, this saw did what it did so we should learn from it. Also make sure your plug is wet so we know the carb is pumping. Thanks for watching and good luck
