- 16 Hour Business Class Baked Lobster Singapore Airlines San Francisco to Singapore SQ 31 Airbus A350! I fly on Singapore Airlines, to go home! This flight on the Airbus A350 from San Francisco to Singapore, direct, non-stop, departing 1130hrs in the morning.
We arrived at the San Francisco airport just before 8AM. Timing was perfect as the check in counter for Singapore AIrlines open 3.5 hours before the flight. I was the first person in line at the Business class check-in, while there was already a healthy queue formed at Economy.

Soon, it was time to board. Boarding was smooth and it would be a completely full flight. Everybody was flying again!
Pre take-off drink, we were given a choice of orange or apple juice. No champagne - I guess this was a morning flight! The cabin crew also came around to take our drink orders (for post take off drink) and I ordered my favorite Singapore Sling!
The airport was certainly very busy. The captain announced that we were the 16th aircraft in the queue to take off. So it took us about 30 minutes to take off. SFO had 2 out of 4 runways closed, so all the landing and takeoff traffic had to be handled by just 2 runways.
Once in the air, meal service began. I got my Singapore Sling, which was deicious!
The actual meal service started. The first course was some type of prawn salad, which was nice. For my main, I had used Book the Cook and chosen the Baked Lobster. This was a slightly different version from the Lobster Thermidor that you get out of Singapore, but still delicious! After that was dessert and some coffee. Cabin lights were dimmed.
Converted my seat into bed mode and promptly went to sleep. I was tired at the end of this work trip.
When I woke up, it was time for the second meal, and the plane was already over Japan! Looks like I had slept through the flight over the Pacific Ocean, pretty cool. It was under 6 hours to landing. The cabin crew came around to confirm our meal orders. I had ordered the cod fish for my main. It came with a fancy name - Signature Black Cod with Forbidden Rice. Fancy.
The meal was good!
After that, I tried to grab some more sleep but I had already plenty of sleep. About 2 hours before landing, I decided to ask for some fish congee. It was good! A "must-try" if you like congee. Superb stuff, and a warm hearty porridge snack before landing. Yummy.
Landing into Singapore was safe and uneventful (which is always a good thing).
Glad to be home!
