So happy you are back MJ! I have had my ham radio Tech and General licenses for about 18 months and have made contacts on every continent, except Antarctica, and am an ARES member. I have done a lot of searching/research on RUclips, the internet and my local ham radio club for information since I got my license. I can tell you that no one has helped me as much as you and your channel. Your approach to instruction, level of detail, and subject matter is the best, by far! Please keep doing what you are doing! Thanks for all you do for amateur radio!
Thanks Jeff for the kind words and support. I am so glad it is helping others. I never imagined that this channel would reach so many people. I took a chance and tried to do something counter to the RUclips culture. Longer videos with the focus on teaching. My face is not the center of all of this. Just the information. What a satisfying result. It is helping others learn and get up and running much faster. Amazing....
Excellent presentation in an easy to understand style. Thank you for creating these series of explanatory videos, very helpful in shortening the learning curve. Best wishes on your current health challenges.
Man it is great to see you posting a video MJ! I know it was a struggle for you. Thank you for the time and effort. Just like all of your videos, it is chock full of helpful information that is concise and easy to understand. I will continue to pray for you. 73, Patrick KF4LMZ
I appreciate that my friend as well as the nice card you sent me. Prayer has made a difference and will continue to in the days ahead. I have two MRI's next week. One for my brain and one for my colon. Kinda the same thing so maybe they can do both at once? LOL.... 😂😂😂😂😂😂 Once they get the results, I will find out when I will have colon surgery. Love getting old
Hi MJ. Great video. We continue to pray for you daily. I truly understand being an enigma, my sweet wife is one as well. We are constantly going to Duke. May God bless you and your dear family each and every day. 73!
Thank you so much! I pray for you all to be in His rest, joy and peace. Let our struggles be an opportunity to witness to others that our circumstances don't define us. Let them see our hope is in Jesus Christ and our joy is supernatural. May others be drawn to you as your life testifies to His faithfulness.
Thanks for your prayers Billy! Will know more in the next few weeks as I just had two MRI’s done this week. Either way, Jesus is faithful and His plan for my life is perfect, even if I have to overcome pain and suffering. It is worth it my friend!!
Wow, thank you! Now recovering from heart stents. One thing after another. I don't think my brain will go back to normal and will have to deal with neuro issues going forward. I will try and do my next series on "remote desktop - HF digital, rig operations, remote antenna switching". I now just takes so much longer.
Thanks for your concern. I will have to have another surgery shortly and that is what seems to hammer my brain. Let's see if I continue to improve or have to deal with a setback post surgery.
"It's better than nothing." That is so true and when we seemingly have had everything these days, that lesson has been forgotten. Everyone is so spoiled by the cell phone and internet that they snub the radio. But if the cell/internet service ever goes down, radio will be a Godsend. I live here on coast of NC, so hurricaines are a reality. Kudos to you for keeping active with radio and putting out these podcasts. Heading to Raleigh in a few weeks to visit my daughter who has finished her Junior year at NCSU and to get appointment for cataract surgery there.
MJ, so glad your condition has improved! My prayers are with you. I just discovered your great channel, but already shared the excellent videos. Blessings ...
I've done solar for portable a long time. When I started this there was little gear available with Anderson Powerpoles already wired in. At that time, and still do, I wanted to keep track of what was on the solar panel side of the charge controller, and what was on the battery/radio side. I adopted the convention of using red-black Powerpoles for everything on the battery/radio side. For the solar panels and inputs to the charge controller I use green-black Powerpoles. I use two 50 watt panels, each about 22" x 26'. They produce about 2.7 amps in bright sunlight, together 5.4 amps. I can arrive on location with a fully charged battery (55 amp-hr AGM deep cycle), play radio all day, and when I leave in the late afternoon the battery is still topped off. And that is with an Icom IC-7200 HF rig, and a 55 watt Yaesu FT-1802M 2m rig.
Smiling! I am praying for you! May our Lord and Savior lay His healing hands on you! ❤🩹 Thank you for another video! God Bless you and your family! Amen 🙏🏼
Hi MJ, Just stumbled across your video today. So sorry to hear you are having health troubles, so prayers for you! I enjoyed your thorough video... liked, and subscribed. Hope you get well soon! 73, Brett K5WXP
LOL, I have told all my doctors that too!! I told them they won't figure out what is really going on with my neuro, heart and colon issues. So far, they all agree. I am enigma.
You may want to know the inverter load you showed most can run off of 12v. Depending your setup you can save the large loss of the inverter. I suggest taking a look. Thank you for your video.
Thanks my friend and with prayer, I hope to get back to normal. It is taking a lot longer than I expected. Oh well, grateful for what still works today 😁
Thanks, not back to normal but pushing forward despite more health issues!! It takes longer to try and learn stuff but glad to be putting stuff out once again.
@@hamradiomadesimple Oh I didn't see anything wrong with it. I just love Anderson Powerpoles. I crimp them onto everything, even when it's not appropriate. I have to crimp more and more powerpoles just to get that same fix. It's a terrible addiction.
Hi MJ, lm going with carbon lead acid batts, perform like lithium but you dont need the fire engine parked next to your radio gear if you have lithium Hope you get well soon. LiPo4 Lithium batteries are safe. It's Lithium-Ion you need the fire dept for!!! Thanks for your encouragement and prayers. Now, I have to have an angiogram procedure for my heart. Despite all this, I am at peace as I have put my trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. No matter the outcome, I have faith His plan is perfect. Thanks my friend.

Hey, thanks Brian. It took a lot of effort to get this out. Still struggling but hope my next surgery won't set me back.

We will see how it goes post May surgery. They are what triggered the last episode. Thanks for your encouraging words.

Very prescient for the NC Helene situation!
I hope you were not impacted by the Helene situation. I live in Raleigh and know what is going on in the western part of the state.
Cool
Cool is better for solar panels LOL 😁
Instead of an inverter, I just bought at 12v power adapter for the laptop.
