Uh Oh - Root Barrier Installed Improperly

When Root Barriers are installed below the specifications, tree roots grow directly over top of the Barriers. These stubborn roots will then make their way directly under the hardscape. This creates costly damage as well as tripping hazards for pedestrians!

Roots can break through these barriers? Over time won’t these barriers weaken and break? I’m just curious because I’m thinking about using this on a tree near my foundation and one near my water line.

the root barriers are made from polyethylene and can last up to 30 years in the ground. there wouldn't be an easy way to have the root puncture the material.
