I know you guys suggest only taking on a couple new things at a time but....i dont have the patience for that so it really made me chuckle when you said you were adding dry beans and popcorn so dent corn would maybe be a next year thing meanwhile this is my first time growing corn at all and im doing 5 different varieties 😂 im trying 3 kinds of sweet corn at my moms house (since they are all sweet i dont care too much if they cross) and glass gem and popcorn at my house. I have so many new things im trying to grow this year. Its my first time growing peas and i tried 3 different varieties of those as well. 😂 so far everything is doing well considering how much i have growing. I have a bunch of squash and melons that didnt sprout i dug the seeds up and some kind of larvae ate them up as soon as they cracked open to send out a root so i will be restarting those asap but thats been my only issue so far.

When you saw seeds try to water in the rows before the seeding. Use the hose with a narrow jet (sorry if the word is not correct). The water will soak into the ground under. You must use a lot of water before the seeding. After you have put down the seeds put the earth on top and do not water after. This way you will get less weeds in between the rows. I dont know why people dont use this way of seeding. It is very good for beans peas and other big seeds, in fact for all sorts of seeds .I live in the north of Sweden. Love your channel, God bless you all !

Two tips: If using cloves from a whole bulb, stand the bulb in about a centimetre of water for a few days until roots begin to form and then split apart the individual cloves to plant; or if cloves are are already separated soak them in water with a weak seaweed solution overnight before planting. Also there is a bit of leeway in getting the depth right, but be careful not to plant them too deep or they will rot. Good luck and happy gardening.

You are totally right on with your ideas about everything relying on everything else, Michelle. One thing I have done when the pollinators were scarce here in Vermont was to pollinate the squash plants myself! You have to learn the difference between the male and female squash flower (female is the one with the little tiny squash on it) and rub some of the pollen from the male flower onto the female flower. There are videos online about how to successfully do this. Now, due to the fact that I started planting more flowers in my garden, I no longer have to do that, but it works in a pinch! As always, very enjoyable video, guys!🌻

Getting groceries in the ground! Best ROE around.
Speaking of ROE, this is the first year I am keeping track of every penny I put into garden supplies and chicken supplies and rhen track the harvest weights. I have a spewadsheet that keeps track of it all. Can't wait to see the yearly totals. I told my kids nobody eats any food from the garden until we weigh it. I used the prices of Wegmans organics to see how much our harvest is worth. With half the year almost here, I k ow my chickens will be a positive cash flow at 2x the cost.

This month there was a long article about gut health and your microbiome. It explained that we need to eat a diverse assortment of non-processed foods. That the eating of single ingredient foods( bell peppers, beans, carrots, etc) 20-30 of them in a week will help us to keep our gut healthy, which in turn will keep our immune system healthy. Heck my salads have 11 different varieties, easy to do with 6 varieties of lettuce from the garden 😊.

I decided to go with patty pan this year as well. I'm just watching this but I think I planted mine around the same time as you. I have a fence around my raised beds to keep the bunnies out, and am going to lean a trellis from the bed to the fence and hopefully that will save some space in the garden. Hopefully both of ours will do well. I haven't really had much luck with zucchini.

I was brave enough to try carrot seeds after watching your video and did the board thing, but nothing has happened and it's been a while. I'm ok with that because I tried. But I go in my little garden and tell my grown kids, well it's not More than Farmers, but I'm so proud of my 3 snow peas to pick. Ha Ha. All I can do is keep trying. Take care.

So bees will have to wait till next year i guess..

Just wanted to stop in and say I love your guys videos and sweet family. Don’t listen to the haters , I’m sure you know better. But just wanted to extend some encouragement your way I’m positive it’s not easy and it’s pretty easy for us to get on a high horse and pretend it is. I believe you guys truly have a heart for this kind of life and a desire to help others learn. And i also believe if you choose to have sponsors, you’ve done your research and I ALSO know that if you ever have a sponsor that I for whatever reason don’t “agree” with that I don’t HAVE to utilize them. Idk that first comment was so annoying to me lol. Maybe that’s why I’m not a RUclipsr 😅 anyways, thanks again ❤

It’s annoying to you that I expressed my opinion? Why? I’m not being snarky- I’m genuinely curious.

@@sparrowsknow8491 I left a long time gap, I know. Sometimes I like to go away and think about my words before posting a response.
I very much disagree with you. I like people who share their opinions and experiences with sponsors. It is helpful to me. Sometimes I’m undecided about whether or not to do business with a particular company and I go into the comments section specifically looking for comments about the sponsor. If I feel that way, someone else feels that way, too. I can’t be the only one.
However, I respect your feelings, too. And if you feel opinions about sponsors are (in your words) “so annoying” then other people feel that way too. You can’t be the only one.
So after some thought, my conclusion is the best way to be true to my own feelings while also respecting others’ is to continue sharing my opinions but to preface them with a trigger warning for the folks such as yourself. It is never my goal to annoy anyone.
      Thank you for your feedback.
