Yes. Emerson's arrangement was approved and endorsed by Ginastera (who said ELP's performance was the first to really capture the spirit of his music), but it was an arrangement.
It is such a shame that this concerto is not a part of the standard repertory. This is one of the most exciting and techincally difficult concerto's that there is. This piece is a show stopper. I can't wait to learn and perform it.
I absolutely loved playing this piece (even though I wasn't the pianist hehe). It is immensely exciting for everyone involved, Ginastera had a way of writing concerti which were challenging for the soloist, but also for the orchestra. I love the recording by Tárrago with Bátiz (Mexico City Symphony). Magical. If you like this, don't forget to listen to the Harp Concerto, and the cello concerti.
Someone posted a fuss about the piano-orchestra connection - however, I believe this to be an artifact of the quality of recording. She plays the concerto with great vigor and appears to understand it, I would not judge musicians based on an individual recording. Besides, RUclips is not a professional presentation venue. RUclips is a way to encourage new listeners into music generally; symphonic music takes some effort to absorb. It is about getting to a larger audience. Bravo this performance.

Glad to see this piece getting more performances. The orchestra is the Filharmonia Sudecka from Walbrzych, Poland, by the way.

You gotta admit that was tight. lol She did it in perfect timing and landed her keys back right in time on the right note. That was tight!

uh. wow. arm swing at the end. okkk
8年くらい前にこの方のピアノのコンサートにたまたま足を運んだことがあります。それが僕がヒナステラという作曲家を知るきっかけでした。この方の先生がアルゼンチンの方で、その関係でヒナステラをレパートリーにされているようです。
wow... すごい
the orchestra eat the piano sound!!!!
This is another interpretation of the same piece of music. Neither is the "original".
