Wow this car is so much simpler and easier to work on than my vw. Thanks for the video. Btw this is much easier on a manual, don't really need to move much out of the way
Thanks for the helpful video. I had the same problem and exactly the same car. Problem now solved. To stop the coolant hoses leaking, I put an old bolt in the end and slid the clip back.
Regarding the screws holding the IAC to the throttle body, they are JIS, hence often ruined by Philips. Be careful with these. Can be ordered new though from Toyota if needed.
Hi, I'm considering purchasing an OBD2 scanner for my 1999 Yaris Verso. Could you tell me which protocol it supports or recommend a suitable OBD scanner?
If it’s to read engine codes only then any obd2 will do. Launch creader 3001 is basic and cheap. But if you are after something more sophisticated then may be 200 to 300 should but a reader that can do more systems in your car.
I cleaned the IAC valve and TB, put it back together and now the idle is wild… worse than before 😂 actually the car just stalls now because the idle is so low. Sounds like crap too.
@@DaringBeefcake After stripping it down again I realise the IAC valve is naturally 1/3 open. I should have removed the sensor part and check that it moved freely enough 🤷🏻♂️
@@T.F.D77 yeah it runs like a champ now! I actually forgot to put that rubber gasket in before fitting the throttle body and had a massive vacuum leak 😂
Hello! I did clean the throttle valve, change the spark plugs and coils, also changed the fuel filter. But when i start my friends yaris verso i need to use the gas pedal to keep it alive. Sometimes it charges the engine but sometimes it won’t.. The alternator is getting about 13.8v that should be fine right?? I actually don’t know what to do about it.
Well the charge from the alternator seems ok so may be the battery needs to be replaced, how old is the battery ? Also if you cleaned the idle control valve and the car still not idling properly, you may need to replace the valve, I had to in another Toyota. Hope this helps.
@@DaringBeefcake Battery is brand new actually so that ain’t the problem. Yes it really helps thank you☺️ Is the idle adjusted electronically on this car or can it be adjusted manually?
@@magnusfolke-olsen3762 its adjusted by the idle control valve, you cant adjusted manually, so you may need to replace the idle control valve, is the valve that is in the video, look at the video may you need to clean it, if you already did then may be it needs replacing.
This problem could be related to throttle body, so its a good idea to check and clean the throttle first also may be a good idea to check for fault codes and idle control valve, they get stack and cause the engine to stall...

Ive got a 02 echo with 320000 miles and she's still very strong. Bullet proof is the right word. 4runners during that time are also Bullet proof.
320000 amazing 🤩

Shizer that’s not supposed to happen, sound like it might be sucking air or something like that..

Good day, I have a toyota yaris 2003 1.0 vvti. I have a problem, the car raises high revs even up to 4000rpm, do you know what it could be. Thank you.
May be the idle control valve ?
@@DaringBeefcake Thanks, is it located behind the throttle? I will try to clean it.
But mine when i open ac the rpm should go down? I already cleaned the throttle body like yours... but nothing happened whats the problem sir?
Is the ac working ?
