      only in the remake series, in the original thy had a traditional score by Stu Phillips also famed for the theme and score for Knight Rider in the 80's
      the remake score was composed by Bear McCreary also known for the scores for Terminator Sarah Conner Chronicles [good score] and the Defiance TV series [also good score]
      BSG used a wide assortment of exotic instruments from around the world to create the sounds you hear....
      still I dig Stu Phillip's score a little more cus you get distinct themes from it

      Honestly for a Stellaris civilization both the Cylons and Colonials would be small fries. Technologically they're roughly on par with the starting techs of a civilization.
      I mean nuclear missiles in Galatica are the ultimate weapon, while in Stellaris they're a comparably weak starting weapon.
      The closest equivalent in Stellaris to a Basestar would probably to make a battleship with nothing but tier 1 missiles, fighters and no shields, in the old versions when you could still put missiles on every hard point.

      @absalomdraconis 5 лет назад +7

    • @ramjb
      @ramjb 5 лет назад +17

      I fail to see the problem. A spaceship, is , by definition, airtight. Water won't reach where vacuum shouldn't reach, hence whatever's vital in the operation of the ship will be safe and sound.
      Put her into water for a while, once you take her out and put her into space not even rust is going to be a problem (no oxygen in space for oxidation - hence no rusting).
      As for "how the hell did they get out of it" - there's such thing as a FTL drive in BSG which works pretty much like teleportation does. We've all already seen Galactica jumping out an atmosphere while in freefall and under severe structural stress due to incredible reentry speeds. If it's resting under the ocean surface it's not going to be much of a problem to jump her with the proper preparation- and will be far less traumatic than surviving an emergency jump while in the middle a freakin' atmospheric reentry.

      That just went absolutely hog wild with guns, which absolutely stripped the believability from the concept of the Battlestars.
      The sheer volume of weapons would have required such extensive refitting of the ship’s hulls to add dozens of new turret ring emplacement, fire control systems and so many tertiary weapons systems, as to make the cost to effectiveness absolutely zero, and quite possibly in the negative. There is a reason why battleships of old weren’t completely lined with as many guns as the deck could fit. At a certain point you end up with too many guns and no real benefits.
      You would be far better off building multiple battlestars with more reasonable weapons emplacements, rather than trying to cram as many weapons into a single hull. Not to mention with all those guns, you would need a dedicated Fleet of Munitions Ships to resupply your ammunition BlackHoleBattlestar…

      When they jumped the Galactica *_into atmosphere_* above New Caprica, fell like a rock, launched all their Vipers and jumped out before they hit the ground.
      It put a lot of stress on the hull, which along with its age and the general beatings and damage it had gotten in combat (and ramming the Cylon main base) led to it *breaking it's back* in our solar system. They already knew it was falling apart before the final mission. Which is why they decided to risk the ship, it was on its way out anyway.
      The main bracing and support beams couldn't hold up any longer - gee a nice straight strong beam across the length of it would have provided some much needed extra strengthening…

    The thing that gets me with Deadlock is the sense of scale. Even disregarding Blood & Chrome for the 50 dual turrets instead of vls missile tube. These things could launch 80 Vipers on arrival, Deadlock doesn't take that into account and it's a shame to only get a couple squadrons.

      To be fair, they also have to worry about gameplay. It has to be a good game first.
      This is why I don't like using games as a source for these things, because games are the only storytelling medium that exists where there's a design need that's not subservient to the needs of the story.
      In this case, that point is kind of moot because most of the ships in Deadlock exist exclusively for gameplay purposes, but it still felt worth bringing up.

      developer insight - he's kind of the "official" youtuber for the game so obviously what he's saying in screen he's been told by the developers who've worked on the DLC, which will obviously included information about what happened with Galactica after Colonial Fleet left her behind during the in-game DLC campaign.

    I was rewatching blood and chrome Galactica is listed as Battlestar Galactica bs ( battle squadron 75 ) like pegasus. I assume its the flagship of more that one Battlestar group . Or a combined battle group i, with the mercury class pegasus admiral cain commanded pegasus two mark 2 Jupiter's 3 valkyrie and two escort carriers. ( berserk)

    I'm kind of disappointed that Resurrection apparently doesn't have any new smaller ships. (What I've read only lists the Jupiter II Battlestar and a new Cylon basestar plus a new strike craft squad for each fleet.) but hopefully that will be fixed soon.

    This fits well with Razor Flashbacks. However the Galactica lacked a good amount of it's Armor Plating in Operation: Raptor Talon. Maybe there's a Jupiter-III we don't know about yet.... One that adds even more Point Defense Turrets while sacrificing Armor protection. The Columbia and a third Unknown Battlestar had the Jupiter Mk II Specs. This was in the 12th year of the War so it's likely that Galactica was Refitted again.

    • @johnwolf2349
      @johnwolf2349 5 лет назад

      Uh, yeah? Of course it is, they don't exactly have the time to be refitting the Galactica during the show we see.
      This is the nice thing about Deadlock, you get to see the battles that made Galactica's name in the first place, while the show only really had it serve in the first war as a background detail.

    The only thing i don't like of the game is the spawn of extra cylons. 2 turns longer and I would not lose half my fleets to repetative spawns. 2 quick cylon ships navigate away in opposite directions and I can't chase them down and kill them before more come. Or initial spawns are so far away that a pair of Jupiters and support ships can't fight the 6 escorts and reach the 2 trailing basestars before the reinforcements arrive over and over.

  • @BattleUnit3
    @BattleUnit3 5 лет назад +3

    I personally think the Cylon should be ashamed of themselves for being denied victory by a 40 year old battlestar.

    • @BigTylt
      @BigTylt 5 лет назад +1

      @@asvarien Don't forget arrogance. I can totally believe that the Cylons saw ships of war as 'beneath' them and too human.

    • @wargearinternational7679
      @wargearinternational7679 5 лет назад +1

      If it were not for the doctrinal change of the Cylons, the Cylons would have won the war. They could have destroyed New Caprica in the first battle for it, leaving not enough humans behind to restart any sort of civilization.

    what is the base with the docked battlestar at the end?

    • @bigal3055
      @bigal3055 5 месяцев назад

      It's from the Deadlock campaign story. In the game, they plucked Galactica out of an ocean after she went down and rebuilt her in secret. The base she is docked at there was during her refit, but it doesn't feature in the gameplay and is only seen in that still image through the campaign story narration.

    The Mercury is bigger and powerful, but the weight the Jupiter class carries with its name, actions and service record is almost as heavy as the very planet it was named after.
    Mercury class....it just doesn't have the same ring as Jupiter class

  • @dboydev
    @dboydev 5 лет назад +4

    I always had a problem with the 3 support beams on the Jupiter Class ships in Deadlock. I don't even know why they heavily changed the original design of the Jupiter class. They should have just used the Blood & Chrome Jupiter class for continuity. all the other ship designs are great though.
