Meloni is easily the most pragmatic European leader right now.
To think she was a junior minister in Berlusconi's cabinet just a few short years ago; this lady is indeed quite smart.
Just look at Xi's body language with her; Xi does not appear in the least put off or offended that Meloni pulled out of BRI quite assertively.
And now, she's pulling off a charm offensive in Beijing. Of course, Xi welcomes her "change of heart" towards China. Why not? China and Chinese leaders are themselves models of pragmatism.
Meloni's narrative has really pulled the carpet from underneath Frau von Der Leyen this time. But if it's all in Italy's interest, why not?

Its actually quite a laughable statement when you break it down. All countries try to produce more than they need so they can export.
And the numbers are even more amusing. China is only exporting about 15% of their EVs, where if you look at a country like Germany it exports over 80% of their cars manufactured.

I think its clear she genuinely is smart and certainly thinking strategic. Having China to establish EV manufacturing, even with some subsidies, still is a big win for Italy - jobs, jobs, jobs for Italy. With the current increase cost of living, I hope my country, Australia, learns from Meloni tact. Our country can benefits financially from it i.e establish EV manufacturing.
