  • Jonathan Davies joined the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs and Martin Offiah linked with the St George Dragons midway through the 1991 Winfield Cup season from the Widnes Vikings when the English game used to be played in Winter. Both players are interviewed by Channel 10 soon after arriving in Australia along with Dragons coach Brian Smith.

If Offiah was prepared to take on the Australian test team's line more than he did he might not have copped so much criticism. Not trying to take away from his career because it was about as good as it got without having a series win over the Aussies. As for Davies? They didn't call him the Welsh Wizard for nothing. Brilliant player IMO.

Met Offiah on Campbell parade Bondi once, he was playing with the Roosters & being a Roosters supporter I congratulated him and he snubbed me. What an ego...

JD was a tough working class legend, Offiah was very talented as a runner but from a privileged middle class background. He didn't have the same amount of fight in him.

JD should have come to play for Balmain Tigers in 80s. What a champion.

Davies was an average kicker, tackler, passer and runner but one of the greatest rugby brains.
