Around 6 minutes in, it struck me.... What a pure, beautiful thing I was watching. No heavy music, no distracting cuts... just a lovely thing to watch.. The creation of a thing, wrought from the earth, pure of itself, being shown crafted purely. Lovely.
My girlfriend sitting next to me was just asking how I could hear all that « awful noise » without going crazy. I honestly didn’t know what she was talking about until she said « ding ding klang klang »
Will- alot of makers do videos, but they don't show their "bumps in the road" like you do. I appreciate that you show us how to resolve issues. Love your work. 20:53
This has to be the best piece I've seen from a bladesith in a long time. I love the Damascus work and all of the trendy stuff that's popular right now, but this piece is elegant simplicity. The perfect marriage of caveman and royalty. You have a phenomenal future ahead of you. Stay passionate.
This video was not perfect. It didn't have pretense. It was honest. And it has a learning curve. Better than most sensation-seeking vids out there. Hard work, mastery, and humility show. Keep it up!
Much respect to you! I am glad to see that not all people your age are trying to be TikTok stars and you work hard! Your respect and knowledge of old macchine tools is incredible and commendable. These old dogs have soul and deserve guys like you to keep them out of the scrap heap. I don't know where you get the time, energy and focus to do what you do (not to mention the $) but great job!
What a weird flex to try and preach. Especially considering his use of all social media platforms. I think the old fact in you is showing the ignorance to social media usage in pop culture and self promotion.
i know that feeling of working on crafting something for weeks but having it not work out and then all there is to do is to learn from it and try again especially when you're working with materials that like to do their own thing and you also want to be responsible wasting as little as possible
It is great to see you holding fast to your quality ethic. Thanks for showing the errors and the fixes. I loved the thoughts behind the design as well.
@@drewrathbone7857 Arguably this is a short sword... Generally speaking Daggers are thrusting/piercing weapons and Swords while able to thrust, they are generally a slashing/cutting weapon.. Swords are also heavier due to their size as their blade length starts at about 11-12 inches up to 24ish inches... Anything below that would be considered a knife or a dagger. another point of interest in the discussion is that Daggers are usually considered very easy to conceal, whereas swords are status symbols (atleast they were back when they were actually in use)
A Really beautiful piece! Love the feel of this video, the pacing and lack of “RUclipsy razzle dazzle”, even the addition of the iPhone clips, made for a very enjoyable watching.
My God, Will..... Your hair is amazing in this video. My wife and I literally had to rewind to the start after talking through two and a half minutes. My wife commented that it looks like a dandelion, smooth and flat in the back and flared into a big hair frill in the front. I went with something more manly and said you're a protohairatops. Sorry it couldn't be something more awesome like a trihairatops, but....... you don't have any horns..... Well anyway, great video as always!
Love the piece Will! Very smooth design and nicely executed! Always annoying when you have to scrap something and start over, but I've found it to be unavoidable from time to time when making unique one-off pieces. Hard to get everything right on something you've never made before.
I like this knife! Most hand made blades are done to showcase the smith's skill, obviously on RUclips you want to show off. But this knife shows your skills without being too fancy.
What a beautiful and unique work of art, man! Seeing your whole process is awesome! I'm way behind you and Alec, but you two are some of the inspiration of my own channel. You give me something to aspire to! Keep up the great work!
I remember when you first built the quench tube someone commented that you should make some sort of mesh material attached to a handle that sits at the bottom of the tube that you can just pull up when things get dropped
You make some awesome works of art can't wait till I'm able to create work as good as yours and I learn a lot by watching the videos you've made keep it up 👍
Really cool video. Love your work. As a suggestion, give Brownell Ox-pho blue a try when you cold blu a piece. It finishes more evenly and gives a nicer finish more easily.
Love your videos and the channel and all of that. That said, it seems like your team either has more video issues or discusses it more then most. Not trying to be negative, just being a honest outsider voice.
You should copper wire wrap the handle. Aesthetically it would really pop, and functionality it would remove any hot spots on the handle during use. Amazing piece!
You should try to capture some sandblasting footage where you can see the actual sandblasting happening. Seen some restoration youtubers do it, and it's oddly satisfying.
Ya know, you could easily have edited that into a seamless (if a bit shorter) production video without telling us about the problems and do-over, and we would have completely bought it. But you didn’t. Thank you for being who you are. Damn but that’s a beautiful knife. I hope whoever buys it rejects your asking price and gives you a hundred or so over.

The sounds of a craftsman at work are music to my ears. I turn off so many videos with elevator music in them.

My favorite part was the ad
@@regulatorjohnson. my favorite part was your comment….. and my second favorite part is this comment , commenting about your comment.

I hope Francesca and co get to make a dope sheath for this one as well! Looks amazing Will! Love how you push your craft.

Very cool looking finished dagger. Always love to see you persevere through, makes me feel better about my own projects.
That's a really neat looking blade. Very cool.
This video was not perfect. It didn't have pretense. It was honest. And it has a learning curve. Better than most sensation-seeking vids out there. Hard work, mastery, and humility show. Keep it up!
That handle construction is just awesome - it's like a blacksmith's knife elevated to a whole new level, and just cool as hell.
Greatest segway into squarespace of our era!
Youre my new favourite bladesmith on RUclips!
Whenever will starts talking about geometry, you know there is a squarespace integration right around the corner.

Dagger looks awesome, love the open handle construction 🔥
Reminds me of glass and ebony weapons from Skyrim so so so cool love it wish more things like this would be created❤❤
The silhouette of the first blade reminded me of the shape of the Imperial Swords.
Going from strength to strength will. Your work and your videos are a pleasure to watch
9:51 I've heard of dropped tong forging, but never drop dagger forging.😂 Will is out here blazing new techniques.
you've got a real knack for creativity keep on being curious, i love seeing the origional stuff like this and hearing what you think about it!
Love the design on that, and the blued finish really makes the look work.
i know that feeling of working on crafting something for weeks but having it not work out and then all there is to do is to learn from it and try again

Rolls Royce got the Spirit of Ecstasy, daggers got This !
Haha, happy to see your work still more and more balanced and « beautifully detailed »
The serpent tongue chief knife turned out awesome
An excellent dagger, this is one of your finest work I think. According to my taste.
I just want you to know that your forging is so clean and, as a very new smith, it is a huge inspiration to get to where you are.
It is great to see you holding fast to your quality ethic. Thanks for showing the errors and the fixes. I loved the thoughts behind the design as well.
I Can't wait to see more knife builds!
damn how creative can you be? That’s a beautiful, and unique dagger!
Looks more like a short sword than a dagger, but it's beautiful! Nice work!!
At what stage does a long dagger become a short sword? 😂
@@drewrathbone7857 I don't know. Maybe it depends on if you're a Hobbit ... [[ Reference Bilbo's "Sting" ... ]]
It is certainly a dagger. The test there is "Can you dag with it? Then its a dagger!"

Love your videos. You’re quite the craftsman Will. Please keep the vids coming.
He always gets me with the square space thing and it’s supper frustrating 😂

That design is so cool Will!
You continue to turn out amazing objects! And are a pleasure to watch
Awesome workmanship, thanks for sharing 👍.
Dude, I really love watching your work.
Blades look awesome will great job
I think your Square Space intros have to be some of the best quality intros on RUclips!! 😂
absolutely _love_ that dagger mate, bloody awesome.
I like this knife! Most hand made blades are done to showcase the smith's skill, obviously on RUclips you want to show off. But this knife shows your skills without being too fancy.
GOT ME! That sponsor segue was perfection... 👨🍳💋
The long exhale and "yeehaw" at the end. That is how I feel about everyday life, and I loved it lol. Thanks for the content.
Absolutely stunning. Form and function perfectly combined.
I definitely give this dramatic piece house room 👍 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏

Great video. Thanks for making them!
Literally one of the most beautiful blades I've ever seen. Great job Will.
That's awesome will , thank you for sharing
that came out great. No torch work after heat treat is a metallurgy rule in industrial forging.
If you are taking suggestions on demascus designs maybe you can try a jellyrole twisted demascus.
One of your best pieces
I watched this an immediately thought of the sword from the cover of Dragon Magazine issue 179 from the early 1990s. Beautiful piece, Will!!

someone with 2 knives: "I gotta tell ya, this is pretty terrific"
I remember when you first built the quench tube someone commented that you should make some sort of mesh material attached to a handle that sits at the bottom of the tube that you can just pull up when things get dropped
Woooooohooo!
Another great item for your portfolio Will! Sorry to hear about the loss of you video material. That kind of thing always sucks.
Loved this build!

Can't wait to see you at Blade, Will! You've been a big source of inspiration for me these past several years.
It’s amazing to see how much you’ve grown as a craftsman and artist. 👍🏻
the grain structure of the 1080 looks beautiful
Love the transition to ad break!!
Definitely One of your best peace’s you have done
I love the Segway into the square space add

Great project and great video, thank you Will
This is a brutal dagger beautiful work.
Always enjoy your projects and knowledge of the trade, love the content of your project board
Thanks for making great videos! I love seeing scripture in the background ❤
Looks good, just a question on the first dagger, couldn't you normalize it and reheat heat it?
Such a cool design! Well done!
Stunning work. Everything you make I would covet. Morgul.
You should copper wire wrap the handle. Aesthetically it would really pop, and functionality it would remove any hot spots on the handle during use. Amazing piece!
That is wickedly beautiful.
I love how you are integrating the sponsor content now. Clever.
You should make wootz steel/crucible steel
You seem to have learned as much as humanly possible from the first scrapped attempt...that's a good skill to have.
Very nice. How about an Arkansas Toothpick?
Love your work
That’s a sweet piece hope I have the chance to see it this weekend
4 am here in Spain and here I ammm......
This piece looks like a Morgúl blade of the Nazgûl. Very nice.
Best transition into the ad read yet.
Great job! That thing is truly inspiring!
Psalm 121 brother. Keep it up! I’m just a few states away, saving up to buy some of your blades!
Really cool dude. Way to go
Nice job Will!
Maybe a twisted basket weave handle next time?
🙏Might be nice, capped with a quillion block.
If you're using a SanDisk extreme portable SSDs 2TB or 4TB - some are vulnerable to data wipes. I think there is a firmware update for the 4TB ones
You should try to capture some sandblasting footage where you can see the actual sandblasting happening. Seen some restoration youtubers do it, and it's oddly satisfying.
Absolute beauty of a piece! Way to forge ahead through the failures to make an even better product than the original!
Thanks Will. 👍😁
I like that transition to the ad 😂
Really awesome bro
Has a bit of Lord of the Rings vibe. Like a darkside version of Frodos Sting.
I thought the exact same thing.
Loved that you said Rooibos, like its meant to be said in a different voice.
Beautiful!
