Absolutely...I was really into Nu Metal, and some of it still holds up...but not nearly as much as I would have thought...I quickly gravitated to the hard rock punk scene with bands like The Offspring and Queens of the Stone Age...but most "Anti-establishment" bands were singing about the same things...the loss of culture and humanity following the tech revolution of the 80's and 90's, disillusionment with the future with insecurity and climate catastrophe, the War on Terror, corporate monopolies, community isolation, loneliness...it seemed like "Life" was over, and we had only one "Last Resort" to avoid the future sci-fi dystopia...and I'm all the more saddened to say that things haven't gotten better over the past two decades..."Broken" really is the apt word...
As a teen listening to Papa Roach, I always heard this song in this (reimagined way), Im so glad that ppl get to hear it how its supposed to be heard 🙌
I feel like Papa Roaches original rendition is more of the explosion of emotion teenagers fighting against something they can't handle while Falling in Reverses reimagining is more of the adult realizing it's a fight they can't win and asking for help
That’s exactly how I feel Papa Roach= I’m an angry teenager who doesn’t understand the world! FIR= I’m an adult who knows the world is broken and I can’t fix it!
True. But the lyrics is written by PR. Teenagers with adult understanding of life. Many PR songs have deep sense. Ronnie of course great singer, unstoppable.
@@disturbedpyro4511the lyrics were not about Jacoby personally he wrote it about a roommate who tried to kill himself thank goodness they got to them in time and got them help
There is a reference to System of a Down when they sing “self righteous suicide, I cryyy, when angels deserve to die” and it’s at the last “cut my life” part. The chords match up perfectly and the angels are crying.
There is a video here on youtube of a recording where Jacoby Shaddix says he made a request to several artist about doing a remake of their song "Last resort" as a celebration for it's 20 year anniversary, and Ronnie accepted. There is even a video where Ronnie plays the first raw song for Jacoby and its amazing to see the raw emotions and respect both artists have for eachother.
Ronnie made you feel each and every word, emotion that he sang. So glad Papa Roach gave their blessing and Ronnie poured himself out! Great reaction guys, take care!!!
There is inflection on every word. Him growing up without a mother made that line sound so much more from the heart and I think he genuinely covered it because every word meant something to him personally.
I could feel every emotion you went through Ginger. Ronnie is such a genius in creating, evoking and transporting emotions. I love the original and I love this rendition. This one hurts much more. Probably because I am feeling so connected to the lyrics.
I couldn’t help but gravitate towards the emotion that Ginger showed… I felt that way upon first listen, and still feel that way when I listen to it now… a beautiful rendition and reimagining of a classic!
"Ronnie's voice is the purest form of mortal struggle." No one could have said it better. That's the exact essence of Ronnie that we adore. What makes him the best is his ability to sing/rap/scream/opera/punk/pop so masterfully as if he's been doing them all his entire life, then you put his lyrical ability in there, and throw on his video concepts and it's easy to see why Ronnie is the best in the world.
How did you expect this reaction? I love them. Ginger your expressions are so sweet. I think we are facing a true genius. His voice and creativity are incredible.
"Ronnie's voice is the purest form of mortal struggle." WOW, amazing statement...and so true...I too would have never thought that a Papa Roach song could hit that hard...and I loved the original, I was right in that teen angst period when it came out, and it hit me hard, but somehow this hits even harder...
I def get the comparison between "angry teen" and "broken adult" that a lot of people make between the songs. But for me, there's this sort of 'noble struggle' feeling to this song that puts it over the edge into something truly special. The depth of the emotion in the lyrics (and the lyrics themselves) juxtaposed with the music... It very much feels like someone who is desperate, enraged, and exhausted - but they're not beaten. The feeling that they're pulling themselves up one more time, just like the last time and the time before that, that the screams in the song are of pained defiance - and there's something incredibly powerful in that which just resonates with me on a whole other level.
Ginger, you had exactly the same reaction as me, Ronnie put so much emotional feeling into this, he just gets better and better, his talent and his voice ❤
I've said it before, and I'm gonna say it again lol, IMO Ronnie is just as talented if not more talented than any modern musician. He can literally do it all and his voice is absolutely haunting when it needs to be.
I watched a dozen different reaction videos last night and everytime I watched the video I balled my eyes out. The emotions he brings to the surface of all the trauma we have suffered n life as kids and adults…. Damn… got me all in the feels! Just sitting here thinking , damn I survived sooooo much and still here. Thank you, Ronnie for this version of this song!
I had never heard this cover until this afternoon driving home from work. A day that was pretty rough because the babies I work with were a bit much today. It was also beginning to storm. The song came on the rock station I was listening to. I wasn't expecting the emotional impact this song had. I had tears streaming down my face. What an incredible cover. Ronnie took this song to a completely different level. It's beautiful and heartbreaking all in one. ❤
I just wanted to console him and be there for him. Make him feel safe and loved and cared for.... I was so glad that he was able to fight back and choose life.
This young man comes very close to Chester Bennington. As with Chester, you can feel the pain in his scream. LP should get him and work with him. He sings like an angel and screams like the devil. Just great 🖤🎧 Just like him, you feel the pain because he transports it authentically. Just great, can't get enough. I think he would be a worthy successor to Chester and could revive LP. Nobody can replace Chester, but this young man is damn close. He gave me goosebumps like only Chester could.
I have NEVER said this in a positive, complementary way in the entirety of my 58 years but, you two truly deserve each other, in the best way possible. I will never forgive you for destroying that record.
at 3:25 will forever give me shivers when he screams. His voice is so emotionally makes me cry everytime. Its so beautiful yet filled with depression and sadness. Ronnie is amazing.
Papa Roach- Jacobi have Ronnie permission to re-imagine the hard rock original and loves the result. Beautifully done and I never paid attention to the desperation of the lyrics and focused more on the guitar riff. Emotionally gutted. Beautiful
FIR were just touring with Papa Roach earlier this year. They gave Ronnie their blessing. The original had more anger. This is just beautiful 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Yeah Ronnie asked Jacoby for permission to do a reimagined version of this song and he gave his blessing and he absolutely loved it gave Ronnie the go ahead
Your channel is always such a darn treat whenever I come by it again :) love you two and your beautiful authenticity! If you are wanting a smidge more falling in reverse , there are 2 older songs I cherish that I think you would like." Carry on" which a great song ronnie sings and has a great riff, also my near and dear song "coming home" which he wrote to and about his life being a dichotomy of wanting to pursue his love of music a d his very new but lovely life as a family guy and missing out on his daughters life and that love for his little girl overcoming all. Very beautiful.
P.S. I don't think anyone but Ronnie thought this song could sound like this... To me the different songs represent different stages of grief... Original - anxiety/anger/bitterness. To me, this version is despair/heartache/paranoia.
You got a new subscriber for me from y'all's beautiful reaction especially your precious woman.❤ Her face matched mine the first time I heard this. Every time I listen to it I get more emotional. Love how you both feel the music

Terry, I'm so sorry for your loss. I honestly don't know that I would ever be fine either, if I lost Mike. But if you're still here, and still getting out of bed each morning, it's a sign that you will be fine, one day. You just need to keep doing the hard things, until they're not so hard.
