I read Peyton Place in 1964 as a 16 year old and have read it several times since. I still have my original Dell paperback. So many folks thought the book was trashy because of the language and adult situations. Now it's a classic. I've enjoyed your videos and This Unexpected Time very much. Happy Holidays!
This is a really great list! I read Peyton Place based on your review and loved it. This list has added more books to my TBR 😊. Thanks as always for sharing and hope your winter is off to a grand start ☃️
Oh! The REM book sounds so good and completely agree with the line about Murmur. I remember playing the first side of Murmur for my Dad with that feeling overwhelming my experience of the album. He didn’t get it and I was so disappointed. Thanks for this list Troy! Sounds like a really great reading year.
Always disappointing when someone doesn't "get" the music (or book or art) you so want them to. Ah well, at least you know there are plenty of other people out there who definitely did get Murmur! All the best to you in 2025!
James Ijames gets produced a lot in Chicago, I saw something just before Covid that I wasn’t smitten with; and I never see plays any more unless they’re musicals. Seeing your list makes my reading feel so narrow 😂 but you’ve given me some ideas for next year. I don’t do a list, and then I tend not to include poetry there, but your book was a notable standout for me. 🍻
Fab top ten, buddy! Lovely to see you had so many great non-fiction reads this year 👍 I predicted two on your list - Peyton Place, and the shark book (because of Gareth’s video of course 😉). So glad you’ve found the shark book you’ve been looking for! You mention you started it as an audiobook - what was the reason for shifting to the physical edition? I ask because if the audio is decent I’ll pop it in my wishlist - it sounds fascinating and I think it’d do me good to listen to it! 😂
Highly recommend the audiobook. If memory serves, I bought the paper book first and then picked up the audio so I could listen to it during my commute. Or, I wanted the paper for the illustrations. I can't honestly remember. Of course, what I'd REALLY like is a Folio edition! :-)
@@troytradup Lol, start petitioning Folio for a fancypants edition straight away! You must have some sway over there, given your elite customer status 😉 I have added the audiobook to my wishlist! I thought your desire for sharky pictures might have been a reason for the physical purchase. I, of course, have no such desire! 😂The audio cover image is perfect for me!
What a great selection. Have a fabulous reading year in 2025 😊
Thanks -- and you as well!

That's a very nice thing to say, David -- I appreciate your support on the poetry so much. All the best to you in 2025!
Thanks for an engaging summation video, it's fun to bring everything together, intelligent & keenly affirmative - a lovely video.
Thanks much! I hope the new year treats you well!
