Harris added, as president, she will highlight which federal jobs do not require a college degree, and challenge the private sector to do the same.
Her visit to battleground Michigan, known by many as the birthplace of organized labor, comes a day after the International Longshoremen’s Association union and the U.S. Maritime Alliance, an association of companies that operate East and Gulf Coast ports, reached a tentative agreement to end a two-day strike.
Vice President Kamala Harris is traveling to Michigan for campaign rallies, while former President Donald Trump is in Georgia to receive a briefing on Hurricane Helene damage and then participates in a town hall in North Carolina. The candidates are racing to make their pitch to voters in key battleground states with less than five weeks until Election Day.
Harris is expected to meet with a group of Arab American and Muslim American leaders in Flint, Michigan, as conflict in the Middle East rages on.
