Pacific Rim Movie CLIP - Anchorage (2013) - Guillermo del Toro Movie HD
When an alien attack threatens the Earth's existence, giant robots piloted by humans are deployed to fight off the menace.
I was rewatching this movie and no one talked about how Raleigh drove Gipsy alone for many miles before fainting .. I personnaly love this little detail
He alone holds the longest record for single pilot drifting in a jeager
TiiX dam sorry I meant longest record not only one, yes staker did fight alone but as soon as the fight ended he stopped, Raleigh walked for hours before he stopped
@@tlas9574 how long is that? Its insane
That's not a little detail at all, it's practically an entire plot point on its own.
He tried to look for his brother
Old man: "You know what I'd like to find? I'd like to find a whole ship. That's what I'd like to find."
God: "I'll do you one better."
well it's not rly a whole jeager
😂😂😂😂
Because he was a good grandpa

uprising was release to show how much of a masterpiece the 1st one is..
Well said,sir
I mean it wasnt intentional but sure
Great phrase honestly.
Mission failed successfully.
Then it was good in that sense.
“A soldier, a pilot, a warrior- walked for miles. His battle hard fought, yet he returned… missing not his arm, or his leg… but a piece of his soul.”
A piece of his soul in the shape of his brother
Sad we never got a sequel to this masterpiece
It's a shame really.
Imo, there's not much to do with a sequel of this movie, they won the war.
In my opinion, a prequel would work better, show the early jaegers and striker
yea what a shame, they never made a sequel nor a prequel :(
what sequel?
What a shame
I always thought Raleigh was saying "Yes!", but he was actually saying "Yancy!"
That was much more chilling...
Is Yancy his brother again?
Yes

0:30 here you can see how big the Jaegers really are
Not like in uprising where they look like autobots in transformers
Thanas Goga wasn’t the same director
@@bartledoo9 That's the problem
Yeah the way the camera pans up really gives a sense of scale
guilermo del toro really knows how to place the camera to make the scale shot. amazing.
in the uprising they placed the camera like a giant cameraman sized as big as the jaeger and the kaiju. making it looks stupid. ruins the illusion.
not trasnformers, but 90's power rangers
@@novapixel16 that's right
The sound of this scene is amazing with gypsy creaking and groaning as it crashed onto the beach even with it powering down when it fully crashed
And they went from this masterpiece to..Uprising 😰
Yes bro , I loved the first part , but the second part ruined it
Uprising was nonsensical, ridiculous, shock-value garbage.
Uprising was the big gay
Same here bro just ruined it 😢😢😢
may they rise in part 3
The fact that they made a movie about giant robots that are basically powered by love and mutual respect is awesome
OMG!!!
Anyone else notice how the Jaeger almost screams in pain as it falls over? Nice touch.
Ya nice

@@etam8099 Because robots I presume
@@Mechanical_mind94 they are literally 2 different types of robots....although trasformers are not simple "robots" anyway....
@@etam8099 so what you're saying is they're robots?
@@Mechanical_mind94 jeagers yes Trasformers not just that, the line "more than meets the eye" is about that.
The way Jaegers and their pilots were introduced in the beginning, people thought of them as superheroes and Gods, and the fact that that old man sees a Jaeger damaged and the pilot come out of it half dead, the emotions are clearly expressed by the old man.
They cut it but when the kid starts digging he pulls out a toy robot with the same color scheme as Gypsy. Nice touch there Del Toro.
its cut normally they find a toy robot there and then the jeager
Del toro is a master of his craft.
This movie, hellboy 1 and 2 and pan's labyrinth... awesome
For some reason I thought that toy was a toy of Cherno.
@@trajano777 don't forget Kung Fu Panda.
One thing I always appreciated about this scene was how quickly the man reacted. This absolute behemoth just crashed in front of him and his first instinct is to look for survivors and provide aid, while still keeping his grandson(?) safe.
Cool grandfather
imagine the headache raleigh has been through after controlling the jaeger for thousands of miles soloing the neural load of the drift alone
As a standalone scene, this is incredible and mysterious. You and your kid are looking for a little bit of treasure on the beach, then you suddenly hear crashing in the distance and you metal detector goes haywire. Out of the mist looms a giant machine, torn apart with pieces falling as it limps toward the shore. The beheamoth stumbles and collapses on the ground, shattering. Out of the machine's head stumbles a man, bleeding and battered, barely noticing you. He mumbles a name, over and over, before falling to the ground himself.
.......yes...what you said.
Jeez, I bet the script wasn't that verbally descriptive. That's the kind of stuff the Directors personally convey to the performers.
👏
this scene alone brings joy to many mecha fans. the awe that child must have felt when he sees the giant and its pilot.
Interesting detail, the places where Gypsy Danger is damaged, are the same places where Raleigh Becket has his wounds.
mitrooper
Am I allowed to give a no-shit Sherlock, the suit is linked up to the armor, arm getting torn off then having continuous shock probably going through his brain&suit indicating that the mech had lost an arm.
@@Zeracan And the fact that Raleigh actually experienced his brother's death because both of them are still mentally linked together makes me wonder how Raleigh hasn't died of shock yet.

I love the sense of scale this movie has! Those two are like sand grains compared to the Jaegar.
If were going to get this kind of apocalypse one day i would gladly die piloting one of these machines

I’d take this kind of apocalypse. Maybe 2020 will give us this, at the end of the year.
Rct 0813 heres hoping? Lol but i live near the beach maybe its not a good idea yet HAHAHA
Still hoping this will happen, id pilot a customized mark 3. Modified with predictive counter measures, stronger armor, more powerful thrusters and definitely a beefed up power core.
Since the Jaegars are controlled by two people, one for each half, this was probably like dragging yourself back to safety with half a brain for Raleigh.
That's not how it works. The drift connects the pilots brains so they can share the neural load of controlling something extremely large. It would just be more of a mental load on Raleigh instead of only using half his brain.
@@thisismyfirstusernameimade3007 It could've caused a seizure by putting such a mental strain on yourself to be able to solo pilot a whole jeager
Every time I rewatch this movie I forget how good a job Charlie Hunam is doing
He really did carve out a very solid character didn't he?
The way that del toro did the jeagers in this movie he did them all in a way that they would feel like characters instead of just tools or weapons. So when you look at these fights there aren't just two people there are three: the two pilots and the jeager they're in working and fighting as one.
the other thing this film has that i liked was weight, like u can feel the weight of these machines as they move and fight
you can also hear a sort of groan of pain from the jaeger when it fell
THIS WAS SUCH A GOOD MOMENT when i saw just how big the jaegar was next to those two people it really made it sink in just how huge these things were

I want to die in honor
All of us
The detail of the hand landing open and then turning and releasing it in the final position as the wrist collapses forward and opens the fingers (1:19) as the jaeger's power died... impeccable anatomy understanding and representation in a mecha.
"When his brother died, he was still able to bring the Jaeger back to the shore and I only know one man who was able to do that"
Really a shame they didn’t touch more on Stacker’s story in this. Man really solo’d Onibaba on his own because his partner passed out.
The depiction of scale is absolutely beautiful. Wonderful scene.
I just find it impressive about how he was able to finish the fight even after being beaten up and having his partner ripped away. Since it was his brother it must’ve been that much more terrifying and traumatizing. Yet he finished the fight and even made his way back to the shore. Which is supposed to be damn near impossible on normal terms, much less after the things he went through hours before.
Let's pretend that Uprising is not a thing.
bruh Guillermo del toro please sir come back to this masterpiece of yours and give it one more shot uprising was a sin and only you can make it right
The movie depicted scale like no other. You could feel the weight of those things.
Who wants a pacific rim origins movie?
SAV1TAR we kinda got one as a monoluge to set up the mid-apocalyose scenario. Personally i dont see the need for a origin.
i was thinking about one but for all the jaegers starting with the other 3 we see at Hong Kong, plus the ones that got minor cameos throughout the beginning. (Tacit Ronin, Romeo Blue, Coyote Tango, those ones with the giant pods on their shoulders and no actual head)
If that happens, it probably isn't show in the cinemas, but couple of short episodes relased on Netflix.
ye a prequel about first few years and there fights
I want a movie about the 6 years Cherno guarded the Siberian coast. I could stand to watch 3 hours of Cherno smooshing the class 1 Kaiju.
one of the best shots in film history, the scale & sounds of the machinery is wild
Something Uprising cant do...
Real time movements with giant robots...
And sense of scale
And develop characters
And being a watchable movie
And having a good plot
And an actual decent jaeger name, gypsy avenger? ffs
Damn that sound of gipsy crashing down so real, this is why i love Rim1 more then Rim2
Edit: I know this is a long comment, but just bare with me?
Exactly. People keep making excuses for the second movie “oh the jeagers are newer so they move faster and blah blah blah”. That’s not the point. The point is you can feel that P1 actually had dedication. From the cinematography to the choreography. Every fight or should I say everything in this movie was memorable.
The characters weren’t the best characters ever but you can still understand them and their pasts and motives. Although giant jeagers couldn’t exist in real life, P1 really makes that feel real and possible. In P2 you have jeagers doing flips and jumping high off the ground. (Before people say Gipsy jumped off the ground in this movie, you could actually see how it did that, with thruster boosters on its back, jeagers in P2 were just jumping) in P1 you could actually sense the weight of everything.
You could see multiple scenes where you can see jeagers mechanisms and pistons moving and whatnot. Even in this scene the camera really shows and scales how large Gypsy is. It just feels like P2 throwed any sense realism out of the window.
Even with the way P1 ended. I feel like it didn’t even need a sequel. If anything we should’ve got an origin story/prequel showcasing some of the older jeagers for the P1 fans. P2 isn’t the worse movie ever, it’s an ok summer blockbuster, but for me, it really doesn’t have any rewatch value like the way P1 does for me.

Almost perfect
It tells you what the film is about, giving a sense of urgency, gives you the scale, implying what the main characters have to do, and giving a sense of awe and dread bc you get an idea of who the robot's opponents must be if they can tear them apart so badly
I would've cut a few moments to not have shown leatherback so clearly & focus more on Cherno reacting to the blows or maybe have shown striker preparing to fire it's missles
Nothing in Uprising had me shook. But how Raleigh survived piloting Gypsy single-handedly. Man i was shook!!
Marshal Pentecost singlehandedly fought Onibaba in Coyote Tango for 3 hours mate :D
It's like you can hear the Jaeger moaning and bellowing in pain.
The mechanical quadriceps bouncing as they hit land are an incredible touch of the translation of human anatomy to a mechanical version of it... this movie is a freaking masterpiece.

*Jaeger randomly comes in*
This movie is in league of it's own, love this movie like a die hard fan it has no worthy sequel, i want del toro back anyhow with another sequel or even prequel to showcase how humans developed these giant beasts especially the mark 1 cherno alpha !
Keep in mind, controlling a jaeger with only one pilot puts massive strain on them, not only was Raleigh injured from the battle, he KILLED knifehead, walked from night up until morning all on his own. Usually going based of some information, a single pilot could only move a jaeger just a couple steps before they collapse from stress.
He must have walked hours in Gypsy while already mentally drained, Marshall did the same thing, but I don't think for as long. Looking back at the first Pacific Rim, it is a true masterpiece.
Every time I watch this clip, when I hear Raleigh saying "Yancy" under his breath, it really hits me.
This Pacific Rim: Uprising that you all speak of, simply does not exist.
I love all the individual nuances of the sound design when Gipsy is taking that last step before it falls. Even throughout the movie the sounds were amazing, but right here I believe it's the best example of it.
2013 Pacific Rim was amazing
What I cant believe is that this one scene beats the whole uprising.
Anyone else get an Iron Giant vibe off of watching a giant mech walking through the snow?

I heard they shafted del toro because they want to make the film as cheap as possible, del toro have pretty high standard in terms of cinematograph, and cgi usage
@@rachmatzulfiqar Get woke go broke? With beloved franchises like Transformers, Lord of the Rings, and Pacific Rim, where its characters are CGI are just effects, as it's been proven, you can't do it cheaply, thoughtlessly, or carelessly and expect it to thrive. It's a powerful movie of the genre when you can actually get a sense of how hurt the mecha is by the sound it is making.

That's because I was in terrible pain, it felt like losing one side of your mind and body while literally losing your arm. Not to mention the serious injuries Knifehead inflicted on me during the fight, I'm amazing I lasted that last before Raleigh and I passed out.
