    Cheers. Very helpful. I use A bit of threaded bar and some big washers behind the sockets make for a cheap bearing press when you are replacing too.

    I have a DT Swiss M1900 wheel with a 3 Pawl hub, I believe it's a 370 and a Sram XD driver. The driver was not spinning well and the cranks would keep moving when they should have been stationary. In a stand the wheel would even spin backward when I turned the cranks backward. I tried cleaning and regressing several times but that did not help. I found the collar on the XD driver was getting hung up on the axel in one spot and also the spacer bushing was slightly mushroomed at the ends. Replaced the spacer and carefully ground the collar on the driver, greased it up and now it works like new. This video helped me work out the issue. Thank you.

    Fantastic info, thank you very much! I have M1900 wheels that are built the same way. Chasing a ghost pedaling issue at the moment, and I think it's in the bearings of the freehub. The hub has enough wear and damage from the cassette, and from the previous owner's time with the bike, that I'm going to replace the free hub. But seeing your video makes me also want to take the axle out and replace the bearings. I was inspecting it all this week, attempting to diagnose the ghost pedaling, and discovered that spacer won't move, and can't be slid off either.

    • @jimcoles3356
      @jimcoles3356 7 месяцев назад

      Ha. My X1900 rear has a "ghost pedalling" issue, too. I'm coasting along, especially on downhill drifting, and the free hub seems to 'catch' then release to normal, every few seconds. Has gotten worse as I let it go. Unfortunately I cannot get my hub bearing to pop out like in this video. I pop and pop with a rubber mallet and the bearing is just fused to inner wall of the hub. Granted, I don't have the block of wood (I have soft jaws in my vice, open enuf to brace the non-drive-side rotor mount but let the axle thru) and my rubber mallet does not look quite as hard as that in the video.

    Any tips for if the spacer won't come off? Have a set of e1900 (I believe the same process) but the freehub spacer will not budge at all. Tried release sprays, just hammering anyway, nothing will budge 😭

    Good video- I don't have a vice and the NDS end cap seems rather tight- rather than trying some bodge with vice-grips could it be knocked out with the bearing too at the same time?? Or is that too much work for the axle to do and may damage it??

    Great video..I’m getting a good bit of play on my m1900 rear wheel. The hub body bearings aren’t the smoothest but I’m not sure I’d be able to feel play if it was the hub, however if the axle bearings were gone would I be able to shake my wheel and feel play? Thanks

      After ordering the wrong tool, I watched this vid and gave it a go without taking the ring out. The bearing initially wouldn’t budge, so I thought that the hub is slightly different. Found the correct tool on line, it’s effin 50-60 quid!! In the end, I tried dropping the new bearing down the axle, to see if it would fit into the ring, and it did (obviously just slightly, not all the way in). If it can go in, it must be possible to get it out. It did come out in the end, just needed a lot of encouragement! The ring is not in the way (spline e1900).

  • @ChrisDetsicas
