You can have a separate personal account when your a sole trader. You don’t need a business account. Just have all your debit and credits for your business in the separate personal account.
You certainly could...but when you consider the free tools Mettle will give you which are designed to help you run your business I don't see the logic of doing so. I was incredibly impressed with Mettle.
There are absolutely no banking costs with the Mettle account and you get the free software which is HMRC compliant. It may not suit everyone but it is FREE business banking.
