One mistake I kept making and a lot of new people do is throw everything I have with the hopes of doing as much damage.
This game is full of counterplay, projectile deflections, blocks, dodges. You need to space out your attacks and make them count as much as possible. Kiting helps you not overcommit and look for opportunities to output damage that will land, if they start blocking, start repositioning and prepare for when their defenses are out.

How can you tell all this? what's the best way to know what others are doing? I can't even tell what's happening or what skills others are using.

@@AlbertoMonroy-lq2vw Unfortunately this is the hardest part. I recommend combining ALL of them. Try other classes and builds yourself, read builds on metabattle, watch people play them.

    nice vid ^^
It's adressing what I see on newer/more unexperienced peepos all the time - am a high gold to mid plat player :v
    - dont forget about dodging
    - avoid dying by running/kiting
    - look at the map to see 1vx situations and possible objectives
    > look out for larger fights and respawns and try to play with your teams tactics/decissions
    - knowing the typical classes and roles also helps a lot (support, bruiser, roamer, dps)
    ...
and for gold people: you might be the best 1v1 player on your strong bruiser build, but keeping the least interesting enemy busy doesnt do anything to win the game, lol.
(gold is known to have players with good fighting skills/builds/... but poor game awareness)

Yes legit few days ago I saw a new player/guildie holding the node until death and when I told them about it they said "but I thought you have to fight on node". We need to change that behavior but sadly the bunker meta doesn't help.

      you said it all
Knowing your role is important as well, :
      - as a roamer its not ur job to keep a point but its ur job to +1 a node and kill or just decap a point and look for kill
      - as a support its ur job to follow ur team even if they do dumb shit, dont stay alone as a support its a waste
      - as a dps you don't go far (most of the times or just to decap it but its not your main objective), ur job is to teamfight with ur team and win it
      - as a duelist u wanna bring people onto you and survive as long as possible so ur team can outnumber the enemy team elsewhere

good video, I'm the engi in the second clip, you're completely right on all points, if only every teammate survived that long and rotated around distracting enemies

If only we could impart this knowledge. I feel like anyone here seeing it... has already heard it, and the people who need to hear it... won't. :P

Survive take kills , look at the map mode , and take a good look at your minimap , so many times I've been seeing people rush into bad scenarios

Communication is key. Let’s just say you’re outnumbered 2v4 on a node, you can type “support req. at Docks”, and if people take you’re request seriously, they will join you and turn the tides of that fight. Do not underestimate the power of chat.

Love the tips I always try to follow these tips, but I swear when I do follow these tips people get soooooo mad for no reason cause I'm not going gung ho with them. Then I get the toxic whispers and stuff lol. I love but hate pvp

    • @GuildJen

Then just ignore them or block them and keep improving yourself, you will start to climb and let them behind, if they want to stay bad it's their problem you don't need to do what they do. You won't always win because it's heavy to carry but your improvement will give you results overtime.

Very good video and points every player should adhere to, but on the second clip on the home fight if you liched you would have turned that fight

I thought about it but I saw tempest and scrapper, didn't look good for lich projectiles

The worst part is , when the team has one bad team fight everyone starts pointing fingers and crying in chat and not working toward comeback , I will kite to take pressure off when we have three dead and ppl are like WHAT ARE YOU DOING CAP SOMETHING…. It’s like ok I’ll just 1v4 and cap eeverything while you’re all dead sounds good

Combat in this game is like watching paint dry compared to the bursty, need to dodge roll feel of damage 6 years ago. good video.

What? Are you telling me all these gold elo players arguing that the best strategy is jumping into the mid node no matter what are wrong?!

This is all well and good except for one problem.
Nobody sticks together and everyone goes their own separate ways and it fucks everything up.

How to be good at pvp?
    1. Play guardian or necro.
    2. Profit!

  • @dagger7mouthpvp573
    @dagger7mouthpvp573 Год назад

I do this and someone rages and pings a node and screams FIGHT ON NODE!!! The shitty part about climbing rank is that 80 percent of the players really are bad and clueless. Which is fine if they are actively trying to get better but those players who lack the critical thinking and point fingers at everyone else don’t want to get better because in their egocentric minds they can’t possibly be the bad player.

Ty so much for these tips I just got back into this game after a very long time I think I played beta in 2012 then first wvw season in 2014 only so it’s crazy to see all these new specs and classes but I’m glad I found your website it’s taught me a lot so far and the videos 🫡

Glad it helps, don't forget to check all the guides here: guildjen.com/pvp-guides/
Roles, rotations and matchups are more important than builds.
