I am currently looking at the brushless model. $109 looks like a good deal. I am total noob regarding RC trucks. I've only flown mini drones B4. It's interesting to note that the Amazon listing says 29mph top speed. Hmm. Classic Amazon exaggeration probably. Thanks for this video.
Really nice overview on both of these Sir! Both are exceptional deals! But like what you said, it’s pretty hard to beat the brushless version with all the upgrades. Your right on point! Thanks for sharing m!👊🏼🙏🏼🤩☕️
Thanks for the review i have the 18859E I have be waiting on a good review on the upgraded one so i can see how it runs you did a good job ima get one now because i have the orange rc truck like yours its a fun little truck now time to get the upgraded one.....👍
@@RoadsideRC Just received 3 of these for my sons from Amazon. I actually got one of them for around $114 due to a limited time promotion. The other 2 were around $120 shipped, and I can’t wait to gift them to my children on Christmas morning. I grew up in the 80’s with toy trucks like “Flex” & “The Animal” & even the old “Hovercraft” from Tyco… Watching a gang of videos like yours have definitely produced an itch to buy myself something nice too… Maybe a 10 scale in the $200-300 range. Anything specific you’d recommend? Any feedback is appreciate Sir, and please continue the great reviews. #subbed 🙌🏽👊🏽💯
Troy, thanks. I needed this. Are parts interchangeable as far as the chassis? I saw aluminum upgrades for the brushed and wondered if they would fit the brushless. Was the battery in the brushless stock in this vid? Thanks.
Wondering if I should take my chances running the stock metal drivetrain on 3S with upgraded esc. Think the metal drivetrain can handle it? I know the plastic from the old version definitely won’t. Curious. So curious. Hehe.
I just ordered one of these and was wondering which 3s battery you used in it? Thinking about ordering one as well. Are there any better chargers that will work for this truck? Thanks
Unfortunately, the 3S I had didn't really fit - I kind of just taped it on there. This one *might* fit, it would need measured: amzn.to/33lQVMl Yes - I 100% recommend upgrading chargers. Here is my go-to dual-charger: amzn.to/3FlR0g8 This charger helps to "future-proof" you as it can do up to 6S and all types of battery chemistries.
Ok great I will look into both of those, thank you very much. Your reviews are great and so is your channel. I was a little hesitant on ordering it because of the size but looks like so much fun lol. I ordered the brushless version btw
Do you have any recommendations on replacement wheel/tires for these? Amazon even :). Two of my tires cracked on the first run and I'm going on 2 weeks of waiting for replacements from China from HBX.
Occasionally. I follow the advice from Holmes Hobbies, since they are a trusted source. On vehicles like this, I usually just plug them in and go for it.
@@RoadsideRC thank’s a lot for your input i just ordered a HBX 2188a 1/18 scale since it so small i was just going to run it and take it easy for two packs before the full out mayhem lol thx again 😎.
I love these little trucks, have one for the back yard, only thing i've changed is the shocks out for some quality oil filled. Thanks for showing them off
The ESC doesn't care where the voltage comes from - just that it is there. The only issue I see sometimes with li-ion batteries is their discharge rate is lower than Lipo. This means your acceleration will be less strong. Otherwise - you will be fine.
Love those HBX trucks and this one looks epic. Looks even cooler with the Roadside RC sticker on it ! Thanks for the great review Troy.
Thanks Rick!
Nice video! Really love the upgrades they put on this brushless version. Keep it up man!
Me too! A really nice improvement!

I hope you enjoy it!
Going brushless is a better long-term solution, but the brushed is fun in this truck as well.
Wow! With the $20 coupon this is a great deal 👍 Brushless is always the way to go!
You got that right!
Great video, really nice neighbourhood and video quality/colour was excellent. I go brushless all day every day.
Thanks 👍
These little 1/18th scale trucks are a lot of fun! Great side by side comparison 👍🍻
Thanks!
We really need to try these smaller trucks. Looks like a lot of fun. Nice job guys
Thanks!
Really a lot of fun for the $$$.
They aren't a 6S Arrma by far...but they are a simple fun.

I just know that I am going to be so happy with my 16889A

@@dopeboyp3487 Awesome! Glad to hear it.
Your next step would be one of the Arrma 3S Lineup (Typhon, Vorteks, Big Rock, Granite, or Senton)!
@@RoadsideRC Cool. I’ll do some research on those. I appreciate you helpful recommendations!💯
whats nice about buying the cheaper one and doing it yourself is you can pick the parts. plan to put some traxxas parts in mine that i have around.
Good luck! Hope it turns out well!
Epic little truck for epic little kids buddy nice review 😉👍👊
Heck - it is fun for me to drive also! I really like it!

Brushed and brushless share almost all of the parts.
I believe they both were using the stock batteries.
COOL! Thumb up to the video.
Thanks!
do you have to balance charge lipo batteries that already come with their own usb cable?
Ideally, yes.
Unfortunately, the standard USB chargers only give you so much control.

Amazon has the 18859a on a lightning deal today for $103. Snagged one. 4/8/22
Great price!!!!

I believe these should fit well: amzn.to/350WNvN
Measure your wheels and look for that size on amzn. They’re 12mm hex “hubs” so there’s a bunch of options.
Just can’t find anything that looks right. Found and purchased a few similar diameters but quite a bit thinner
just wondering do you break your brushed motors in before running them?
Occasionally.

In HBX 18859a we go 1000mah battery till how much we can battery upgrade
You can use whatever 2S lipo fits. Just measure and confirm the size.

Yes! The oil-filled shocks are a great idea. Really glad to see the brushless truck comes with these upgrades out of the box.
Can these go straight ?
Of course!
Nice 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you!
is it actually the same size as 16889?
Nope - the 16889 is certainly larger.
Haiboxing is a product just received the stadium truck … not bad
Glad to hear it!
cool
Thanks!
I just got the brushless ravage I got the 20 dollars off coupon at check out and it’s fast and fun awesome truck.

Dus the brush transmitter works on the brushless
I believe it does.

@@RoadsideRC awesomeness, thanks for the info. May not be as good as a lipo but for the sole fact of playing its cool to know.
Brushless is better than brushed
For bashers - yes!
