Thanks for the layout tour. Very nice. A lot was done already, and there is more to come. I guess you will install some loops at some point so you can have the trains run continuously and not only back and forth.
I like to run my trains back and forth, it is more realistic. But the planning phase of the next layout section is still not done. I already have considered a Loop at least at one end of the line. We will see what I come up with.
I look forward to watching each of your posts and continue to be amazed at the excellent work on the railway to date. Thank you for the walk around and explanation of each section. I love your engineering expertise, including track laying, electrical work (amazing) and overall construction. Awesome and thank you. Tim, Australia.
Hi Tim, you are still here supporting me and my garden railroad. Thank you so much! There is a lot more to come, I have plans that reach as far as 1,5 years in the future so onto the next project!
It's sad that the internet has so many people who are full of doom and gloom. This will not work, and that will not work. But clearly, it is working. Me thinks that they're just keyboard warriors with no practical, real-world experience. Your layout is great and has clearly been well thought out. Thank you for sharing.
For one part you are right for sure. I have to say that I got really good tips from real professionals in the past as well through the comment section. That´s the other side. And as I was talking in that video I unintentionally said "many of you guys" a few times which is clearly over saturated. I got a few comments on those topics. That´s my personal problem with limited english speaking capabilitys, sometimes I use phrases that I know not realising that I point the finger at a lot more people than I anticipated. When I realize something like that in post production it is to late to do it again in most cases.
Thank you as well for you nice comment! At December 22nd will be the next time some trains are running on the layout. Until then I have to do a lot of electrical work to make it function!
This is the first video of yours that I have watched and I am hooked! Have subscribed and am looking forward to following your work on this wonderful garden railway. I have an indoor British outline layout in my loft but love all scales and types of layouts! Alles gutes aus England!
WOW I love it!!! I recently bought a house with a garden to start realizing my childhood dream of a garden railway (0 scale) and your project looks like the right one for inspiration. Thanks so much for sharing, I'm subscribing to your channel and looking forward to your upcoming updates :) fingers crossed and cheers!
Thank you so much, you seem like a new fan to my channel! There will be many more updates, normally every two weeks but sometimes more often. If you are starting from scratch you may be also interested in my prior videos. I wish you a lot of fun with my videos and I appreciate every comment!
Nice,, i am just getting started with g scale myself. its not big, about 50ft of a loop track around a huge tree. I named my layout "Disfunction Junction"
One more garden railroad owner! The size is not as important as the details, you can have a very nice, small layout with many details. It will be way nicer than many bigger layouts. But be careful about the tree, it will cause lots of maintenance work in the future. Otherwise it will be in deed a Disfunction Junction.
Thanks for your Video, and compliments. I follow your video accurately as I've a Garden railroad in Italy but I didn't plan it so accurately. You have a Very nice layout and so well built. I'm very interested in the electrical disposition. It would be nice if in a future video you can show your track plan design with track segmentation and how they are connected to the main board. I'm curious about the system you're installing for track occupancy detection.
A lot of very interesting questions! There will be a exessive amount of electrical videos the next few months regarding the wiring from the track to the signal box and the signal box internals as well. I plan to install a big part of the singnal box internals January / February 2025. Around that time the actual singnal box will function for the first time in history!
Layout looks great!!!! A tremendous amount of work already done just to get it to that stage. With all the complicated electrical work to be done I was wondering if you have an electrical engineering background? Keep the update going!!!!
Thank you! I do know a bit about electrical but I am far from electrical engineering. My grand dad taught me a lot about electrical stuff, the rest is self taught. I am mostly driven by the fact that I want a clean, reliable electrical system for my garden railroad which still works in 10 years from now. So I put in the time and money to make it good although it is not always fun.
Hello As always an excellent video, and really interesting, to see how it all works, and your plans. You should know by now track inspectors work in gangs, so it was good to see your own inspectors follow the same rules. 😂😂
@@summitrailway Yes I think your right, Hi Viz is needed more now with those nice new yard lamps. You will be getting them a tea/coffee hut next hahahaha
Nice walkaround the track! You use 2 x 20 amps for your railroad. I thought you could only put 12 amps down with the 1210z do you use boosters. Or can it handle more amperage? Or is the rest(28 amps used for different things than power the track)
The 2x 20 amps power everything, that means the 1210z that I am using can put out 12 amps to the track. It will draw up to 14 amps from the power supply due to internal losses. Same goes for the booster unit that I will install sometime in the future, but I prepped my power supply and the wiring for the installation of the booster that will take another 14 amps at max. Now we are at 28 amps max current that I need to support. Then there are a massive amount of lights on the layout which, as of today, will draw another 4 amps but I am far from beeing done installing all the lights. One more big consumer will be the signal box. I need to run a pc, one monitor, a secondary dcc central station and a whole bunch of signal decoders all of of the main power supply. When I am set and done I will use most of the 40 amps that I have installed. And to be safe I want to have some buffer between the current draw needed and the max current output of my power supplies.
That would be a dream but it is nearly impossible. Maybe a temporary setup one time... but before I get to such crazy stuff I am going to finish up the layout as planned, then we will see what comes up.
I build up my stock over a long period of time. What you see today is the result in stock and experience of the last 14 years coming together in building this layout. Since building this layout is my main goal right now I take some sacrifices every day to be able to afford all the stuff I need to buy. But that´s me and my high stake goals. All I want to say is that it doesn´t come easy but if you saty focused over a long periond of time it will grow eventually!
It will detect the current flow in the supply wires to each track section individually. This information will be converted to loco net and then into a pc which runs the software.
Some of them don´t know what I am building and some of them like what I do. I even got permission to use a small part of my neighbors property to get my railway line where I need it to go so they are clearly supporting it!
Maybe it's come time that the name of the company be spelled out? Wouldn't want the unintended audience flocking here and be disappointed after all. 😭 There's only choo choo trains here.
A garden railway is never finished, thats 100% spot on. its always evolving... great video, always looking forward to your next videos.
Glad to hear, thank you very much!
no model railway is ever finished😂
Love your channel and layout. Thanks for sharing RESPECT ✊ 🚂🔥🔥🔥
Thank you! I am glad that you like what I am doing, there is a lot more to come!
Great progress. I hope you have snow this winter, so you can film the trains running in the snow, that would be fantastic.
I agree, that would be great! Some years we get lucky some years we don´t, we`ll see...
I like the rust too. Thanks for sharing as always.
Wohoo, the first person that likes it too and tells me about it :) Thank you!

Beautiful. Progress is moving nicely. I Love the layout and enjoy the videos.
Thank you very much, there will be more to enjoy soon!
Excellent work - love your channel, you’ve inspired me to build my own garden railway!
That is exactely what I want to hear! Thank you for your comment!
Really great walkaround! I like your work and this video! Keep up your great work, and best regards from Vienna!
Thank you very much!

Fantastic. I'm running out of cool words to say. What your doing looks so fun. Your a master at this craft.
Thank you very much! You are welcome to repeat some of the cool word´s, they are more than on time use 😂 After all I appreciate all your comments!
Great video thanks... very helpful and great to watch progress.
Thank you, more progress is in the works!
big proyect I like see to the next video
Very big project, it will thake me another couple of years but that means more videos to watch for you!

Extremely impressive layout! Great work!
Thank you very much!
Fantastic. Its just what I´ve been waiting for. Now I understand it better.
Looking forward to seeing the trains run.
I am glad you learnd something about how it fit´s all together!
looking good. Big plans in the future for the Summit Railway. I'll be watching.
Good to hear, I am so gland you enjoy my videos!
Very Nice! (GFCI) = Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter in the US.
Thank you! Now I know how it is called in the US!
❤❤❤

mega - danke für die übersicht!
Jetzt wo wieder alle den Überblick haben kann ich gemütlich weiter bauen :)

that leftover dirt pile could be the material for a G scale mountain in your garden layout....
This is only 1/3 of the leftover dirt, I dug out way more than that. This pile sits there because I will need it in the futrue to expand my layout.

Thank you, more to come!
Hello
As always an excellent video, and really interesting, to see how it all works, and your plans.
You should know by now track inspectors work in gangs, so it was good to see your own inspectors follow the same rules. 😂😂
Thank you! I suppose I should by high vis vests for my track inspectors so they stay safe...
@@summitrailway Yes I think your right, Hi Viz is needed more now with those nice new yard lamps. You will be getting them a tea/coffee hut next hahahaha
Very interesting. I'm curious if you plan any kind of loop you could set your trains to run around in the yard?
There won´t be a loop, this layout runs from point A to point B with a station at each end and some other sidings and tracks along the way.
Nice walkaround the track! You use 2 x 20 amps for your railroad. I thought you could only put 12 amps down with the 1210z do you use boosters. Or can it handle more amperage? Or is the rest(28 amps used for different things than power the track)

What computer program will you be using to control the trains and is this current detection or reed switches for occupancy detection?
I will run ESTWGJ as software and it will be current detection.
Please could you tell me what gauge your railway is and its a great system you have
The gauge is called IIm or more commonly used G-Scale. It is 1:22,5 in scale and the track width is 45mm.
2nd station looks like good place to put wye at
This is not as easy as it looks because of elevation changes but it would be possible.
Would it be possible to have a branche line spiraling up the heap of dirt?
You will be amazed what I have in mind. It will be something like your Idea but different :)
Will you do a whole loop around the house one time?
That would be a dream but it is nearly impossible. Maybe a temporary setup one time... but before I get to such crazy stuff I am going to finish up the layout as planned, then we will see what comes up.
👍
I have a small G Scale layout, but it's all very expensive. How do you afford all your stock?
I build up my stock over a long period of time. What you see today is the result in stock and experience of the last 14 years coming together in building this layout. Since building this layout is my main goal right now I take some sacrifices every day to be able to afford all the stuff I need to buy. But that´s me and my high stake goals. All I want to say is that it doesn´t come easy but if you saty focused over a long periond of time it will grow eventually!
How large is your garden?
It is not that big after all but I have invested a lot of time in planning my layout so I can get the most track length out of it.
Obviously the white chicken is the fore-person.
If you say so. They each have different responsibilities across the board. Some inspect the tracks, others the wiring and so on...
What is your occupation is it electrical background, Mick Gold Coast Queensland Australia
It will detect the current flow in the supply wires to each track section individually. This information will be converted to loco net and then into a pc which runs the software.
Today, the track inspectors are obviously surveying the terrain for future expansion… 😅
It seems like it!
Make some bridges and tunnels.
Bridges are planned and mendatory for the further extension of the layout, I won´t have the opportuitiy for a tunnel unfortunately...
what do your neighbors think of it XD :)
Some of them don´t know what I am building and some of them like what I do. I even got permission to use a small part of my neighbors property to get my railway line where I need it to go so they are clearly supporting it!
Hast du auch einen deutschen Kanal?
Nein, das ist der einzige Kanal.
that side shielding we call FENCE in english bud.
Even when it is mounted as a wall of a building?
@@summitrailway then it's a wall of a building not side shielding. or siding of brick, tin, etc.
no matter the train layout... it's never finished xD
That´s just the way it goes!
Maybe it's come time that the name of the company be spelled out? Wouldn't want the unintended audience flocking here and be disappointed after all. 😭 There's only choo choo trains here.
I think people get to see very quickly what this channel is all about, some will stay and some will move on...
