No. Even if the video says so, the upgrades from the UB 1.0 were not big at all. Nobody noticed the wider toebox and the pattern wasn't a big thing, as well. What made Ultra Boosts so popular was the hype and the limited numbers of production. Celebrities wore them, everybody was talking about them, but you couldn't get them. Same thing with NMD's and Yeezys. Really high demand when they were limited and it fell off when they were made widely available. Regarding Air Forces, these are a trend, just like Adidas Superstars were one the years before. In 2010, some people wore Air Force 1's, but nobody really have a shit. Same thing will probably happen in a few years. Maybe then, Gazelles will be as popular as Air Forces are now.
The Dragon Ball and Star Wars would’ve been amazing if the shoes didn’t look cheap and boring I’ve seen countless fan mock ups that would’ve been guaranteed smashes
Yeah i could have just bought any of the Star Wars ultra boost in stock and discounted, but i'm just not into Star Wars so i got a insane deal on two pair of NMD's today, £170 off rrp.
I dont think those shoes are too bad either. But I just remember like 3 years ago when GR nmds would sell out in 5 seconds. They've definitely fell from that
@@tigerlindsay2 that is true, but for me, who is just enthusiastic about shoes, I don't think I would buy a pair for resell. I feel like too many people hype up something and prices sky rocket or things sell out fast. If I buy a product it's because I like the product not because of hype. Which I understand is good for business, but since I'm not within that business circle of the company or reseller's I look at it as a consumer.
Thank you! The lesson at the end 🎯 People discredit pronouncing ethnic words all the time and I’m glad someone in the fashion industry makes this apparent too. Same can be said for food, traditions, etc...
I still like the designs of Adidas over Nike. Ultra boost 1.0,2,0, 19 and Ace 16 look great still, the branding more part of the design. Casuals like the Stan Smith, Superstars and Sambas are really cool too. The only Nike I’d get are more techie stuff ala ACG. Nice vid, dudes
Man you absolutely nailed it👌 but imo there are still some under the radar sick ass collabs like the bed jw ford or as mentioned by you the craig greens
The whole crossfit thing is why Reebok ended up selling their entire business. Crossfit isn't a hook for anything. That's why Adidas changed the Reebok logo back to its original design and is now selling their classics.
hey Reggie, im watching your video today about Adidas and just noticed that you´re using the same color/pattern as the new Ivy Park 2023 collection from Adidas, did you knew something back them? lol
Hey Reggie, great content once again. Wondering if you could make a video about people like Hiroshi Fujiwara, Clot, Y3 talking about whether whatever they create really is created by them? They probably have a team of people helping with designs and what not, so maybe don't even actually craft or make their own prototype for their collabs. Does this still entitle them to their reputations that they have today? Especially since all shoes for example are manufactured in China, so when people praise the craft or work of a particular shoe, are we praising the factory sweatshops instead of them?
Very much on point analysis! Some very interesting and insightful thoughts on so many missteps by Adidas. Still like my nmds but I haven’t bought anything from Adidaa (besides Yeezys) for years.
Adidas did a collaboration with Berlin based fashion zine 032c and did a rework on the FYW S97. Yeah it's not as big as Y-3 or Kanye but that shoe is fiiirree. You should look up "032c Salvation". But yeah based on the facts stated in this video they did F up quite a bit lol. Nice video! 👌🏼
any chance you could do a video on some sneaker stores? not for just buying but now that im living in japan and realised i definitely came with too many pairs from my collection and now need to sell some, any specific locations i should hit up?
I would like to point to an article that came out last which said on a corporate level adidas isn't diverse. That's why they thought putting boost on everything was cool. They think it was boost that made ultra boost popular and not the peoole wearing them. They don't have good marketing at all because they aren't in touch at the corporate level.
1:05 I would like to know the context behind this picture, because there is no way that somebody, in their right mind, would think, “You know what would make my fit pic better! A whip🤪”
i felt like this was very bias towards adidas... nike hasn’t really been super innovative except for now that they finally came out with something to rival boost (ZoomX) which isn’t highly available to everyone (AlphaFly). part of the reason i favor adidas as well is because their craftsmanship is sometimes on par or better than Nike, i’ve had a ton of Nike shoes bottom out, rip easy, or air bubbles pop or flatten with normal use, which is pretty upsetting considering some of their premium price points for the quality you get.
They also really f‘d up the 4D line. The Original futurecraft 4D Models such as the Daniel arsham collab were so sick and a perfect successor for the ub (since they f’d this model up too..) But they made them way too exclusive and are now just releasing trash 4D models... unbelievable
So if no one wanted the bape collab why couldn't I get them? Matter of fact casual the bape x damien lillard collab sold out too. Please do more research on the bape collabs
My lack of interest in Adidas in recent years is that their sneaker designs are getting worse. There clothes are still nice and classic but I think their designers need to rethink their designs.
9:17 You say jordan wanted to sign with adidas but that was when he was a rookie and adidas already had legendary players like lary bird or magic johnson they didnt want to take a risk over a rookie.
Everything in this video is on point imo, tho i gotta say at some point i like adidas more than nike bc they’re always taking risks and that kind of energy is dope
I'd have to disagree with this point. I think that Adidas hasn't been taking good risks lately. I think that mass producing the UB was probably one of the least riskiest moves I've ever seen. Plus the collabs have been weak as well. Me personally, I think Nike's collabs have been better, all the designers they've collaborated with, even if it didn't sell super well, seemed to better well-executed than Adidas collabs.
Derek H I agree with you when you said that a lot of adidas’ collabs were weak. Adidas did more collabs than nike and even though most of them were a miss, I still commend adidas for the risks they took.
On top of changing the UB design, Adidas also killed the NMD market by saturating it to death in a sorry effort to stay relevant. and now you see NMDs at Ross, TJmaxx, and Burlington etc.
To be fair, the NBA was completey dominated by big men and conventional wisdom at the time said that while Michael could be good, he still wasn't expected to be a dominant force in the league or even a superstar, since almost all the superstars in the league were bigs. All the GMs in the league were building their teams around centers. Nike didn't really have any basketball endorsements at the time, and as a brand were behind adidas, and I believe Puma and Converse as well and gave a rookie Jordan the most lucrative endorsement deal ever, at the time. Nike was in a position where they had to be more aggressive and take a bigger risk, and adidas wasn't. Then Jordan single handedly changed the league.
Bruh this was so accurate, I really miss 2016 good music, adidas had something to compete with against Nike, and new brands were emerging too. Now everything feels incredibly washed out, and overdone. Jeez and adidas soccer and skating were doing really well too😒

reebok, nigo, and ye are the only great things about adidas anymore reebok so great man even their generic athletic shoes look better than most new adidas collabs
Yea u know i was vibin with adidas until they started putting out shoes that had already been bought by yuppie resellers and trustfund baby hypebeasts. Thats hella rude that they decided to give the common folk who actually intend on wearing their sneakers a chance at copping a pair when so many shoe scalpers and children of the 1% stood to lose street cred.
Adidas also shows that you can be successful if stay in your own lane. They missed the mark by not signing jordan but tbh adidas basketball kinda sucks in comparison to what Nike has done and is still doing.
Even on running shoes adidas is getting left out. They dont make lighter and bouncier foams. Boost is really obsolete man. Most of all, still no carbon plate tech? Come on adidas!
I think Adidas also F'd up but not taking jerry Lorenzo. He literally was pushing sales for their shoes hard especially Y3 pureboosts.

The collab with Rick Owens was also something tha proved Adidas’ great decisions back then
