This song was used brilliantly in the film...pulsated low in the background throughout the entire 10-minute opening, increasing in volume at tense moments and then fading away. Just masterful.
man did the song ever work well in Drive during the first getaway scene. Bloody brilliant, low tone in the background. phenomenal atmospheric movie,. best i've ever seen.
Does anyone agree this track sounds like the theme Music to John Carpteners' The Thing a bit, tricked out to its own style. I can hear it inside it this. I love this track it is just awesome.
most well rounded action/noire/drama ever. It pleases multiple cinematic apetites and doesn't quit. Many don't know how much effort and time Gosling spends putting into his character development because he has been so comfortable in the sappy dramas he has made a name with. You'll be seeing him acting 30 years from now just like Newman did.
drive is just an amazingly atmospheric movie. Captures every tone. i don't know if any one realized the brilliance in directing, but everyshot during the initial getaway at the start of the film, was shot from inside of the car, as to give the impression of speed and what else, atmosphere. Epic movie.
the opening scene of this movie is simply an artistic MASTERPIECE. Actually the whole movie is a masterpiece, but that opening scene stands out for me.... close to 0 dialogue but such an epic direction makes you feel like you are IN the god damn car with the actors.... fucking amazing job... I will never forget this opening scene... EVER.... one of the few occasions in our time that I felt like this, being inside the film, absorbed 100% by it... genius...
@saucony3dgrid Story goes that Refn sent the composer a bunch of tracks he liked, and that he were to create something similar sounding. This music here is probably what came out.
Respond to this video... I'm in love with this movie. It's weird, but i have butterflies in my stomach, thinking about it all the time. Can't wait to get home from work and obsessing over it on the internet.
@TheRealBarrett That's exactly what it is. I play it for my friends and they are like "it sounds okay." but they aren't thinking of it in the same context that I am thinking of it in. I'm thinking of the film they are just listening to it on the surface. This song was just the perfect song for the film.
@elwingy I agree completley. I felt that way during most of this film. This is one of the few films I have seen which had my complete emotional involvement. I got a distinct feel from every scene, this film is ASTOUNDING! It was genius I agree.
@omniconsum3r I know I cant wait. I saw a bit of the first season but time schedule wouldnt allow it. Im going to get the disks and watch the entire thing. He was extremley talented and it was a toss up for my 2nd fav character: Either Shannon or Bernie Rose-- I think Shannon but Bernine was awesome.
@fbiberkopf2 "Plain Jane just like you asked for but I put 300 horses under the hood, it will fly"- Shannon (Bryan Cranston is a hell of an actor I never watched breaking bad but am going to start) He and Gosling had a good on screen prescense like a father son relationship a bit, not too much but it was there. Gosling is an incredible actor and is one of the few true method actors. He COMPLETLEY immereses himself in the role, its evident of you are a fan. This was his best so far, no doubt.
@westongarr I have seen many Cohen Bros. films and they are incredible. They are talented, LMFAO Raising Arizona has one of the funniest scenes in it of ANY movie when Cage is trying to get the diapers with the goofy music. All the films u mentioned so far are awesome I think No Country is probably my favorite of theirs, Millers second. Chigurh is amazing and that scene at the eagle motel was ASTOUNDING! Yes these films defintley have a DRIVE vibe as well Im going to watch DRIVE 2morow again!
@mikisotak Saw It yesterday in paris, premiere. I have no words to describe the awesomeness. Made me think about History of violence in a way. It's just jaw-dropping.
@mikisotak The crowd I was with loved it. I have no idea if the marketing of this movie worked but word of mouth will keep it around for a while I reckon.
@REMY45HST i watched drive again today, so awesome, have u watched any cohen brothers movies? i feel like drive feels kinda similar to some of them, movies like blood simple, no country for old men, and millers crossing, i would really recomend those
@creepshowzz Yep - thought the same thing when I saw it. Driver was fantastic, Drive was fantastic. Not often that happens. And two Ryans....not often THAT happens ;)
SPOIL master piece, some scene reminds me taxi driver, and the end what to say? he dies like a cowboy in ancient movies,on this horse goes to the seting sun, a classic !!!
@dean7879 Definitley it is Carpenterish, it does sound a bit like Assault on Precint 13 a bit too. I like it a lot its got its own original style but you can def. hear influences in the background. This song is really a good one to drive too. It makes me start thinking Im getting followed by police lol.
@neil8642 Awesome thanks for the info. I bought the Satin Jacket but it wont be hear til after 12/15 :(. I loved the look and just his style, Im gonna wear it alot. I hope they make a Gosling mod that be cool. His blunt weapon should be a hammer and his special fighting move , the STOMP lol. Hows GTA 5 look though? I been waiting forever for a new gta for 360
@rishi851 As I said, The Lion King is an idea that had already been done to death by the time it came out 19 years ago. Drive is a fresh, new and original idea with great cinematography, great use of non CG special effects and best of all, no 3D. I love both of these movies, but when you really weigh the two, I can't help but think that this movie was over looked. I can definitely understand why you didn't like it, but it's a nice change of pace after a summer of pretty awful movies
@westongarr No not really. If you explain what you meant a little bettter because its hard to understand emotion from typed comments. Just explain what you were trying to say. You want a sequel?
Unfortunately, not too many people went to go see this movie. Instead, they decided they wanted to go see a 19 year old movie just because it was in 3D. I now hate Disney for ruining the release of this masterpiece of cinema
This song was used brilliantly in the film...pulsated low in the background throughout the entire 10-minute opening, increasing in volume at tense moments and then fading away. Just masterful.
Drive was the most refreshing 80's genre movie I have seen in years. Awesome
man did the song ever work well in Drive during the first getaway scene. Bloody brilliant, low tone in the background. phenomenal atmospheric movie,. best i've ever seen.
I love how this song on it's own is pretty chilled but with Refn's visuals it's so intense you can't breathe.
Does anyone agree this track sounds like the theme Music to John Carpteners' The Thing a bit, tricked out to its own style. I can hear it inside it this. I love this track it is just awesome.
17 people didnt make it to the car in 5 min

13 minutes and 28 seconds of bliss.

#Drive This tune makes me feel like I'm in the 1980's and up to no good...
I listen to this at work on repeat... all day...
Played for the first 7 mins or so of Drive. Absolutely perfect!!
Loved this movie and this song! It fit perfectly with the intensity of the opening scene
Amazing soundtrack and the Movie. Love ''Drive''
was great in the movie Drive. really enjoyed the soundtrack in this movie.
the opening scene of this movie is simply an artistic MASTERPIECE. genius...
best music video ever.
Glad people enjoyed 'Drive'. This was my favorite track from the film. 'Nightcall' was awesome too though..
This is a pure example of why we need sound in movies.

Awesome track for an awesome film.
minutes 8 through 10 remind me of the THX sound, pretty good.
You haven't heard this song until you hear it in the theater with the first scenes. Completely epic.

SWEET SONG AND MOVIE!!!!
@saucony3dgrid Story goes that Refn sent the composer a bunch of tracks he liked, and that he were to create something similar sounding. This music here is probably what came out.

Hypnotic music, I love it !
When this came on during the intro in "DRIVE" it was perfect pretty good movie by the way.
@TheRealBarrett That's exactly what it is. I play it for my friends and they are like "it sounds okay." but they aren't thinking of it in the same context that I am thinking of it in. drive best film of the year
@elwingy I agree completley. I felt that way during most of this film. This is one of the few films I have seen which had my complete emotional involvement. I got a distinct feel from every scene, this film is ASTOUNDING! It was genius I agree.

drive evokes the micheal mann movie thief with it's style, pace, subtlety. thats a good thing!
amazing song!!!!!!!!!!!!
Loved this movie, great soundtrack. As much as the ladies fall over Gosling, he's a pretty bad ass character in this movie.
@westongarr I have seen many Cohen Bros. films and they are incredible. The first sequence was the best.
What a cool track. Reminds me a little of Gary Numan's Cry the clock said. Must be the Roland CompuRythm style beat.
im here becaus this movie and song WHERE GREAT!!! and because of hutch!
the perfect song for when you're out at night to do something exceptionally bad-ass.
Oh how my bass takes this to a new level...
Hypnotizing track. Drive ♥
@mikisotak Saw It yesterday in paris, premiere. I have no words to describe the awesomeness. Made me think about History of violence in a way.
It's just jaw-dropping.
Love how this long is. Pretty hypnotic..… ¶_______________¶
Yeah for hutch, he was right. I'm glad i was introduced to this
The sound of this song gives me a chill. I think it's scary, don't know why.
I like it!
DRIVE
@MobilRay89 A guy who works for machinima who did a commentary for battlefield 3 yesterday and mentioned this song
@thesparitan haha its a machinima premier director. he had a battlefield video and talked about this song :D
ryan gosling biggest rising actor
@sheatheman
yes,. worth rewatching it many times just for that.
@mikisotak The crowd I was with loved it. I have no idea if the marketing of this movie worked but word of mouth will keep it around for a while I reckon.
idk how i could have respected Ryan Gossling more. but then Drive came out and he is just more bad ass
Ya know who is awesome, hutch, and damn i love his taste, sweet.
@TheRealBarrett That's crazy bro! Haha, I'm happy for you! I hope you like it as much as I did. Tell me about it when you see it bro.
right on.
Awesome song as it has a "Jan Hammer" type of vibe too it. This song would have fitted perfectly in an episode of Miami Vice.
walk someplace thats crowded with this song in your head..you'll immediately feel like Jason Bourne
This is strong!
@KikiLine0721 TOTALLY AGREED. THE MOVIE IS OH MY LORD.

master piece, some scene reminds me taxi driver, and the end what to say? he dies like a cowboy in ancient movies,on this horse goes to the seting sun,
a classic !!!
@MobilRay89 one of the most famous Machinima directors.
Not often do you find a song that you could literally do ANYthing to.
@dean7879 Definitley it is Carpenterish, it does sound a bit like Assault on Precint 13 a bit too. I like it a lot its got its own original style but you can def. hear influences in the background. This song is really a good one to drive too. It makes me start thinking Im getting followed by police lol.

heard this during the trailer and said to myself. Must get this shit and DRIVE
if you love Drive OST this song is awesome
@rishi851 As I said, The Lion King is an idea that had already been done to death by the time it came out 19 years ago. @REMY45HST haha, raising arizona was awesome! one of the few movies that i really liked nicholas cage in
Ryan Gosling dropped me here with his car !!!
@Heartlessjim1990 the action scenes are pretty similar to History of Violence. Especially the one where he caves the dude's face in on the elevator.
@westongarr No not really. If you explain what you meant a little bettter because its hard to understand emotion from typed comments. Just explain what you were trying to say. You want a sequel?
@Heartlessjim1990 Yes, A History of Violence, that's what it reminded me of!
Cult CLASSIC!
listening to this while I drive gives me that incognito feeling from the cops
This is mixed differently than the soundtrack... but I think it's the same as the version in the actual film.
Unfortunately, not too many people went to go see this movie. Instead, they decided they wanted to go see a 19 year old movie just because it was in 3D. I now hate Disney for ruining the release of this masterpiece of cinema
Hutch
NICE~
