- It's our last full day in New Zealand and what better way to spend it than spearfishing with Jackson Shields & Sophie Hamilton. We have fantastic conditions with flat seas and excellent visibility. I struggle to find fish and Hannah encounters a rather frisky king wrasse. Jackson as usual does what he does best - find fish! Thank you for watching, we'll see you next time in Australia!

00:00 Perfect conditions
01:11 King of faffing
02:11 Demoiselle fish shoal
02:49 Snapper hunt
5:20 Frisky fish
5:45 Trying for snapper again
7:39 Jackson the king, king Развлечения
Casually spears 2 fish at once & doesn’t even address it 😅😅 5:48
To be fair they aren’t too difficult to spear and it was for burley 🤣
King wrasse can be aggressive to new "additions" to fish tanks so as you were the new addition to the largest fish tank it probably got a bit frisky. Plus you had some food lol
perfect and entertaining Spearfishingkayong from Indonesia is very inspired by this video. Thank You
Another great video, Daniel! Looking forward to The Australian adventures.
Love the videos man! Thanks for putting them out and taking us on the dives with you🤙 from Virginia Beach, VA
I am sooo jealous!!! Amazing Bro !!!Bravo !!
And another banger has been uploaded 💪🏼 I suppose we can take your word on spearing the snapper… cant wait for Australia videos! Thanks!
oook,we get it , it's sill summer downunder! 😆
Another great episode Mr. Mann!
Exiting video. Always on this side rooting you on. Thanks👍
Another great video from D.M! Thanks for taking us (virtually) with you! I would appreciate if you could share some information about your diving conditions like water temperature and the wetsuit thickness you have chosen and the effects of your weighting and so on. But wait! Keep the great travel videos coming, and maybe you could do a "how to" video? 🙂
Thanks Joachim, I was using a 7mm jacket with 5mm pants. I changed weights depending on the depth I was hunting.
Very enjoying the video!!
Bravo Daniel and Friends for sharing.
Always a pleasure seing your videos mate!
Greetings from Mayorca Spain.
Thank you Dimitrios!
Those highlights already show what an amazing time it’s been down there! Looking forward to watching the full thing on the tv this evening.
Hope you enjoy!
@@DanielMann @daniel Here's a potential solution to GoPros: DJI Osmo Action... Better audio, never overheats (probably not an issue in NZ, tho) and as a pro videographer I suspect you may even appreciate its colors more. Though granted, not sure of the battery time on them.
Also, I have noticed over the years that sometimes you have an extra camera for your selfie-in-water-vlogging camera but sometimes you unscrew your head cam. You could consider making a quick release head strap, I did despite not vlogging. I think you'll find it extremely handy. I used a DJI quick release mount for mine but they aren't easy to find anylonger. Going from head cam to vlogging becomes a 3sec operation, literally. Basically, I cut off the GoPro lugs on the head strap and epoxied in the base mount of the DJI quick release. And yep, you can mount a GoPro on that mount, too.
Let me know if you wanna know more and I'll dig out some pics of it.
Thank you! I got the Osmo action 3 after this trip and I agree, much nicer camera to use. I considered 3D printing a quick release mount for the head strap but with the increasing size of GoPros/action cameras I didn’t want to add any extra bulk.
@@DanielMann I may consider making a mount for my float to put let’s say another GoPro or osmo. Where in that case you could un clip it quickly for whatever reason.
@@DanielMann way better audio on the last gen compared to similar gen GoPro when housed. Underwater white balance good down to 20m compared to GoPro’s lack of one. Smaller size with similar recording times. More than adequate image stabilization. What’s not to like:-)
My Osmo 3 is on its way - hope to find that all the above is still true.
As for bulk on the mount, the solution I touted doesn’t really add much if any. Maybe a few mm if you do the mod carefully.
I’ll try to shoot a video of it in action and beep you up on Insta. For a proper creator/vlogger like you, I really think you’d be amazed with how well it works. As it is now, I imagine you often question whether the hassle of taking the cam off will be worth what you wanna say in the moment;-)
Complimenti Daniel bel video e belle catture.
Great visibility and nice fish!! It must be amazing to be able to spearfishing to all those different places. Take care Daniel!! Greetings from Greece!
Thanks Giannis, it certainly is loads of fun spearfishing different countries.
Another awesome banger mate. Now that makes me want to really get there to visit my lady friend. Beautiful scenery by the way 😊😊😊
Awesome! Hope you make it back down under soon!!
Next four videos are all from Australia 👌
just checked yesterday for a new video the best❤️
The timing and the conversation just makes @1:22 hilarious 😂 glad you had a great trip, look forward to your content from the rest of it.
Was a lot of bants that couldn’t make the Final Cut 🤣
@@DanielMann but those are the best!
Who doesn't wear their flip flops like that right?! 🤣🤣
Awesome video dude that kingfish at the end was lovely 😎
Sitting here in the mountains -17*F/ -27.22*C 🤔thinking, i wish i was looking for snapper! Awesome video, thank you for sharing your adventures!
If you’ve got snow I’d take that for sure!
@@DanielMann Oh i have lots of it! LOL
I always enjoy your videos
Thanks Brendan!
Nice catch 🫶
Quick little video but a fun one. That was a nice King fish.
Perfect eating size.
Very inspiring,,want to learn spearfishing in deep water..😁
Cheers Daniel pleased you got some diving in here during winter , dam go pros actually all camera gear causes problems in the wild hope you're making some coin from your videos to cover some cost,,get back down there ..lol
Also dope shot here at 5:48
hi Daniel love your videos
Thanks Max!
Отличная пеламида! Отличная нырялка и компания !🤠
5:40 FYI it’s called a Sandaggers Wrasse and they love to be hand fed Kina and will even let you stroke them like you would a cat or dog
That’s cool, we call them king wrasse in Australia and hardly ever see them that size.
I've had a simliar incident with a different species of wrasse here in Western Australia that was super agressive and kept trying to chase me out of the area
awesome cinematography there bro you rock and your channel soo underrated
Thanks Loki!
The wrasse have probably been feed before an want some food if you split the Kina in half they will eat out of your hand super friendly fish
rass are super friendly here, theyll let you pat them if you holding a open kina
❤️❤️🔥🔥💯
The wrasse was after a feed Ollie from PRIMAL PURSUIT also in New Zealand always give them a feed and pat .top shot 2 fish 1 shot not bad mate see you in next one SHOOT STRAIGHT GRUMPY
Dan, you make the best freedive spearfishing video's. Ironic that you're not that good at spearfishing 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Anyway thanks, loved the video 👈
I want to see you in Jamaica 🇯🇲🇯🇲
KILLER!!
🥇
Should do some spearfishing on the wellington coast, from titahi bay (porirua), all the way around to Wellington south coast, if you want to take in the sites drive around the wairarapa coast, great diving and spearfishing. But awesome to see aotearoa being put on the map for something other than rugby. Love the content
Will have to do a bit more south of Auckland next time. For a geographically small country there is so much to see!
@@DanielMann yes bro or even north of Auckland in the far north is good scenery and diving
🐟🎥👍
200k subs 🎉
Thank you!
You should go to lake Taupo and get some brown bullhead catfish because they are so easy to spear and they are pests so no license needed but do t shoo trout thats illegal
👍
Australia next? Yes time for some real fishing!!!
Loads of fish in the coming episodes!
Are there are species in UK that groundbaits can be used to attract ?? Seems like an efficient way to hunt 🤔
Good video again.. Short but entertaining
I’ve never tried it in the U.K. but I don’t think there would be many that would go for it. Perhaps Gilthead bream maybe.
Was this old footage? I hear lots of mention of winter in NZ, but its currently summer in the Southern Hemisphere which is why I was wondering.
Yes, this was in September.
@@DanielMann NZ is incredible in the cool weather. Im hoping to make a trip there next year.
Hi Daniel Mann, Im a 10 year old spearo and a fan could you please reply, and also good video. 🐟
Hi Harrison, thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it!
@@DanielMann Thank you so much, this is very inspirational. Your a really nice guy.
The Wrasse wanted her to crack open the kina for a feed they like when you do that for them
Noted!
I went diving today and got spooked by a 3m monster of a bronze whaler 🤣
That’s a big one!
Any tips for flying with your speargun in europe?
Sportube and don’t fly with Ryanair. Check the airline restrictions carefully!
Daniel Mann : You dont catch fish sitting in a boat.
xD
*Unless you cheat and use and Rod & line
@@DanielMann Hahahahaha just kidding with ya man! Love the content :D
bro it wants some of that urchin thats why the fish was bein all crazy
Great vid mate, but now in Nz its actually summer not winter
I know, this was shot in September!
Oh okay that make sense, why the locals also referred to it as winter times.
Double shot
Lol you can tell a New Zealander told you the name of the Domino Damsels you saw, for some weird reason they pronounce it demasel which is entirely incorrect. It seems every NZ spearo I see on RUclips says that.
Not sure it’s entirely incorrect. Fish base refers to it as. demoiselle. www.fishbase.se/summary/Chromis-dispilus.html
@@DanielMann I stand corrected then, I took some time to compare the Domino Damsel I mentioned and the Demoiselle and while they look very similar, the dot placement is different. After years of having tanks in South Africa it really looked like the same fish.
I went spearing today and saw a 3.5m bull shark😮
That’s a big one!
Mokes?
Didn’t have time to go all the way out there!
Is this hen and chicks?
Yes

Trimakasih BOS.......
10 kina? You need more like 30 for a burly bro
What happened to your voice??
Had a head cold when I recorded the voice over.
@@DanielMann get well soon
