Great tutorial as usual! When I do T-shirt quilts I always either meander so that I can have control over where I sew or not or I do a very large open Panto by hand for the same reason. i’m currently working on five, yes five I am stupid, quilts of baby clothes. I took all the buttons off, and sewed all the placards down. I will hand put the buttons on later. See stupid reference above. Also, interfacing won’t stick to shirts that have fabric softener in them. Learned that one the hard way.
Thank you for showing us what you do and how you do it. Love your commentary, too! I quilt for clients and I’ve been able to incorporate some of your techniques, which I think, makes me a better quilter. I’m in Texas as well - north of Dallas, about 15 miles from the Oklahoma border. Thanks again for sharing. Have a safe rest of the year.
Yes I have two clients with Three tee shirt quilts to do. Thanks for the encouragement. I’ve warned them. One has tee shirts in the middle of the backing. Told her I can’t control what gets stitched though on the back. Grrrrr.
Nice job!! I am with you, tshirt quilts can be the biggest buggers to quilt! I use my Q24 longarm, and do not have the computer for it. I did 2 Harley Davidson tshirt quilts and man, the graphics were miserable on some shirts. The cheaper the tshirt, the worse it was! Whew! Love your video, never thought to piece my batting like that! Perfect!
Great video! But on my gosh your puppy is so adorable!! 💗. Our corgi, Brutus, is my shop assistant. He's a terrible assistant though. Haha. Constantly sleeping and always underfoot. Good thing he's cute!
thanks for the video and the hints, I piece my batting too, but I use a wide zig zag stitch, and sew them, I think I will like your method better!! Getting ready to do a t-shirt quilt this weekend. I try to put them off but ....gotta do it and get er done :) (and over with!)
roxanne godsey they are used for removing stitches in medical situations! You will find them in every hospital.so many great things for sewing can be found in unexpected places.
Fullness means some “surfing” needs to happen. I feel your pain. I do LOTS of TShirt quilts. Love my Statler too. I have good luck with ballpoint needles on T-shirt quilts. Have you tried them?
What brand name is the iron you are using, it looks like a great portable steam iron,, I need to purchase a cordless soon. I hate T-shirt quilts to longarm, they are a pill, and the only ones I have to watch diligently on my machine. I just decided they are to much trouble for the money, so I refuse to take any to quilt. Love your channel, have a great week-end.
Hi can I ask you why so you do a panto on a t shirt quilt? If I'm quilting a t shirt quilt, I just do a stipple. It takes about 2 to 3 hours. And I don't have to sew over vinyl. I'm just learning. Thanks for your lessons and videos
I have a lot of issues with puddling and warpage on borders I found quilting quilts on horizontal says time because you only do maybe 3-4 rows and less rolling the quilt . When quilting on vertical.. it takes more rolling because of row and I find you can still control warpage but every roll the border may not lay flat. The truth it’s a time saver . As long as quilt doesn’t have a directional design . This works .. cuts quilting time by 1/3

I use woven interfacing on my t-shirt quilts. I don’t get the wrinkles/pleats because it now doesn’t give/stretch like a knit fabric.

Use a pressing sheet to iron your front T-shirt’s decals

I don't like quilting t-shirt quilts. Making them is fine but quilting them......I always thought I was doing something wrong.
Is there a reason that you put the t-shirt quilt on the frame with the top and bottom sideways??
