Not far away from Melbourne. Got quote from curtain shop. For 3.2m slding door, If we install curtain plus sheer about $3000. Sheer with roller blinds about $2000😂😂😂
Hey Bill, I would love a video on how to hang a curtain from the ceiling. I have a room I want to hang a curtain at the entrance. Room is approximately 3.2mtr wide.
I also like the option of letting light in while still having some privacy with the sheer curtains. I tried to achieve that with dual roller blinds, I like that option. Which reminds me….I bought roller blinds that are too big for some of my windows because they were on clearance. Maybe a good idea for a video could be how to trim roller blinds down to size
Spotlight will trim the width down to size for a fee per blind. I did mine myself. Cut the inner tube with a hack saw. Trimmed the blind material with sharp dress making scissors. Very hard to cut straight. Spotlight have a machine that brings it out perfect.
@@leannelollypop1869 I did hear about spotlight doing it and asked and they said they only do it for blinds you buy there. And they didn’t do it on site where I live. Same with Bunnings, they will trim some for you via an order form but it’s only a couple of the brands they sell and they basically just order them in cut to the size elsewhere. I did 1 blind cutting the tube with an angle grinder and laying the blind fully out on a table and cutting it against a 1.8m level with a scalpel. But had to shift it along the table a couple times and it’s tough to get straight
I love how it's so common in NZ to call your audience "guys". There was once a gathering in Los Angeles of the local liberal party to hammer out that years talking points. Hilariously, someone said "guys" and the meeting devolved for hours into a debate on pronouns and misgendering! Great use of funds to rent a hall and rabble about gender pronouns!😅
@billshowto Is there a rule of thumb of how far underneath the cornice you need to go? Or can you go right off the bottom of it? Thanks, great video mate!
where you get the s fold rods from? the bunnings s fold rods are only 1 way. I am not sure about the freedom s fold rods, but it looks the same. I saw people joined the freedom s fold rods, but yours s fold rods do not look joined.
Love your work mate👌🏼. I find your videos more helpful than any others on RUclips 👍🏻. I was wondering if you might be able to do a video on running Ethernet cable through walls cause my boys want them for gaming and I'm not 100% sure on how to go about it
Did you cut the string in the tracks in the middle so that the curtains open from the middle? In my curtain rod, the string goes the whole way across so my curtains are opening from one side only
Can you trim or connect the curtain tracks? In my case we want to mount curtains on double sliding doors which measure 4.2m wide and the tracks only come in 2.2m. Appreciate your videos they have been extremely helpful.
@@billshowto we’ve got a 4.2m wall to hang sheers / curtains on. On this space we’ve weighed it as about 8kg’s worth of curtains and there’s 12 brackets in the wall. Confident in that holding it or would you not be?
the weight will fluctuate depending on where they are all stacked most of the time and during operation. At 4.2m you will have approximately half of the brackets going into studs. If half go into studs just make sure you use a good wall anchor that can carry weight for the rest. 👍
Well that makes life easier, you can use wall mate anchors that hold approximately 20kg each or there’s another brand at bunnings ( can’t remember the name) that look like a 20 cent piece that can hold up to 50kg but a bit of a pain to install.
Thanks for the vid. I appreciate you! Just wondering where you got those blinds and sheers, they are lovely.
Same question here I’m going to spotlight next week see if there’s any sheers like that 😊
@@andyzhang8886 let me know how you go 👍
S-Fold curtain track and bracket from Windoware at Bunnings

Could you please show us what the hooks looked like on the back of the curtains?
Nice one. You forget how good curtains can look. It’s all some form of blinds I usually see these days

Trim the length or width?

Thank you 😊 Great video, Lovely clear instructions ! Give me more confidence to do it myself
You’re welcome 👍
You're a legend, Bill! Brilliant video instructions. Think I can now do this blindfolded!
What brand of tracks have you used? Thank you!!
Yo mate. Nice video! May I ask where did you get those rails and curtains from? Were they from spotlight?
Very helpful thanks mate
Hi Bill, great video. Do you buy these from an online retailer?
Excellent video as always Bill! Legend!

Amazing..please, where did you buy the curtains from and the tracks from? They look lovely..
I’d love to see how the hook looked on the back of the curtains and how you got those to look so nicely waved and evenly spaced.
You ever work this out?
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge 😊

Go straight to 2:21 to hear Bill become an amateur DJ then giggle at himself 😂😂
Thanks for your video.
May I ask where did you got the tracks, sheer and blinds from?
What brand are they?
Freedom, very easy to install.
Did you cut the string in the tracks in the middle so that the curtains open from the middle? In my curtain rod, the string goes the whole way across so my curtains are opening from one side only
No, don’t cut the string. These are specifically made to split from the middle.
Can you still do this on a steel frame house? I had trouble putting screws in the steel stud behind the gyprock..
You can, just need to use metal screws not timber.
Can you trim or connect the curtain tracks? In my case we want to mount curtains on double sliding doors which measure 4.2m wide and the tracks only come in 2.2m. Appreciate your videos they have been extremely helpful.
Depends on the make, usually you can👍
What curtain manufacturer do you recommend ?
Where did u get those brackets
Hey mate, would I be ok drilling these straight into the wall under the cornice, using green wall plugs?
Unfortunately not. Curtains are generally pretty heavy and should be installed into studs or other solid surface

I’m in Australia so it’s into gyprock walls

Is the railing screwed directly into brick wall? If so what screw do you use?
This was screwed into the studs👍
Where to buy these ?
You were saying we have a stud here in the wall, what is that? Thanks
Timber in the wall to screw into 👍
Ok thanks! And thanks for the very clear video!! 🎉😀❤
you’re very welcome 👍
Always looking forward to new videos. Appreciate it
